Diabetic foot ulcers（DFUs） are a serious vascular disease. Currently, no effective methods are available for treating DFUs. Pro-protein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9（PCSK9） regulates lipid levels to promote atherosclerosis. However, the role of PCSK9 in DFUs remains unclear. In this study, we found that the expression of PCSK9 in endothelial cells（eCs） increased significantly under high glucose（HG）stimulation and in diabetic plasma and vessels. Specifically, PCSK9 promotes the e3 ubiquitin-protein ligase NeDD4 binding to vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2（VeGFR2）, which led to the ubiquitination of VeGFR2, resulting in its degradation and downregulation in eCs. Furthermore, PCSK9 suppresses the expression and activation of AKT, endothelial nitric oxide synthase（eNOS）, and eRK1/2, leading to decreased nitric oxide（NO） production and increased superoxide anion(O2·-) generation, which impairs vascular endothelial function and angiogenesis. Importantly, using evolocumab to limit the increase in PCSK9 expression blocked the HG-induced inhibition of NO production and the increase in O2·-production, as well as inhibited the phosphorylation and expression of AKT, eNOS, and eRK1/***, evolocumab improved vascular endothelial function and angiogenesis, and promoted wound healing in diabetes. our findings suggest that targeting PCSK9 is a novel therapeutic approach for treating DFUs.

Predictive Factors of Renal Failure in COVID-19 Patients at the Anti-COVID Center in Lome, Togo

background: Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 has been identified as the receptor that allows the entry of SarsCov2 into the human cell. Its expression in the kidney is 100 times higher than in the lung;thus, making the kidney an excellent target for SarsCov2 infection manifesting as renal failure (RF). The objective of this study was to determine the predictive factors of RF during COVID-19 in the Togolese context. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive and analytical study conducted at the Lomé Anti-COVID Center including the records of patients hospitalized for COVID-19, of age ≥ 18 years and having performed a creatinemia. RF was defined by a GFR 2 calculated according to the MDRD formula. Patients were randomized into 2 groups according to GFRResults: 482 patients were selected for this study with a mean age of 58.02 years. Sixty-five percent of the patients were men, i.e., a sex ratio of 1.88. Fifty-two patients had RF, i.e., a frequency of 10.8%.There were 65% men (315 cases), for a sex ratio (M/F) of 1.88. Risk factors for renal failure in COVID-19 were age ≥ 65 years (ORa 2.42;CIa95% [1.17 - 4.95];p = 0.016), anemia (ORa 2.49;CIa95% [1.21 - 5.26];p = 0.015), moderate (ORa 13;CIa95% [2.30 - 2.44];p = 0.017), severe (ORa 26.2;CIa95% [4.85 - 4.93];p = 0.002) and critical (ORa 108;CIa95% [16.5 - 21.76];p Conclusion: Renal failure would therefore be related to the severity of COVID-19 and is the most formidable factor, conditioning the course of the disease and the patient’s vital prognosis.

随着世界经济的快速发展,以及全球变暖导致的气候问题日益加重,制冷技术对现代社会的影响越来越深入。全氯氟烃(CFCs)和含氢氯氟烃(HCFCs)类氟利昂制冷剂在常规的气体压缩制冷技术中一直占据主要地位,但这一类制冷剂的使用会加剧全球的温室效应。为了实现全球碳中和,寻求高效环保的制冷方案成为科学家们的重点研究方向,而基于外场诱导的固态相变技术就提供了一种很有前景的方案,其中压卡效应备受关注。近年来,科学家们相继在一系列被称为塑晶的材料中发现了庞压卡效应,其熵变比传统的固态相变制冷材料高一个数量级。在此之后,科研界对塑晶材料压卡效应的研究逐渐增多,并不断探寻出新的具有优异性能的塑晶材料作为压卡制冷技术的工质。这极大地促进了压卡制冷技术的发展,为未来实现绿色环保的高效制冷技术提供了更多可能性。本文将简单解释塑晶压卡效应的物理机制,对C_(5)H_(12)O_(2)(NPG)、(NH_(2))C(CH_(2)OH)_(3)(TRIS)以及碳硼烷等几种典型的塑晶材料在压卡效应上的综合表现进行陈述和对比,并对塑晶压卡效应在新型固态制冷技术中的应用进行展望。

Introduction: The epidemiology of both hepatitis b virus (HbV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections among drug users (DUs) is little known in West Africa. The study aimed to assess the prevalence of hepatitis b and C viruses among drug users in burkina Faso. Methodology: This was a cross-sectional biological and behavioral survey conducted between June and August 2022, among drug users in ouagadougou and bobo Dioulasso, the two main cities of burkina Faso. A respondent-driven sampling (RDS) was used to recruit drug users. Hepatitis b surface antigen was determined using lateral flow rapid test kits and antibodies to hepatitis C virus in serum determined using an enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay. Data were entered and analyzed using Stata 17 software. Weighted binary logistic regression was used to identify the associated factors of hepatitis b and C infections and a p-value Results: A total of 323 drug users were recruited with 97.5% males. The mean age was 32.7 years old. The inhaled or smoked mode was the most used by drug users. The adjusted hepatitis b and hepatitis C prevalence among study participants were 11.1% and 2.3% respectively. The marital status (p = 0.001), and the nationality (p = 0.011) were significantly associated with hepatitis b infection. The type of drug used was not significantly associated with hepatitis b infection or hepatitis C infection. Conclusion: The prevalence of HbsAg and anti-HCV antibodies among DUs are comparable to those reported in the general population in burkina Faso. This result suggests that the main routes of contamination by HbV and HCV among DUs are similar to those in the population, and could be explained by the low use of the injectable route by DUs in burkina Faso.

哺乳期是机体钙磷代谢的一个特殊时期。在此阶段,母体钙磷和骨代谢状态在钙磷调节激素的作用下发生一系列变化,以期通过母乳为新生儿提供充足的钙质。本文就哺乳期产妇钙磷代谢及骨密度变化特点进行综述。研究表明,哺乳期间母体血钙水平保持正常,血磷水平轻度升高,同时,骨吸收和骨形成指标升高,并出现短暂性骨密度丢失,这些变化与升高的甲状旁腺激素相关蛋白(parathyroid hormone related protein,PTHrP)、泌乳素(prolactin,PRL)水平及低水平的雌二醇(estradiol,e2)有关。但随着停止哺乳、月经复潮,产妇骨代谢水平、骨密度逐渐恢复至孕前水平。

Vision-based positioning system

Conventional outdoor navigation systems are usually based on orbital satellites, e.g., global positioning system （GPS） and global navigation satellite system （GLONASS）. The latest advances from wearable, e.g., baidueye and Google Glass, have enabled new approaches to leverage information from the surrounding environment. For example, they enable the change from passively receiving information to actively requesting information. Thus, such changes might inspire brand new application scenarios that were not possible before. In this work, we propose a vision-based navigation system based on wearable like baidu eye. We discuss the associated challenges and propose potential solutions for each of them. The system utilizes crowd sensing to collect and build a traffic signpost database for positioning reference. Then it leverages context information, such as cell identification （Cell ID）, signal strength, and altitude combined with traffic sign detection and recognition to enable real-time positioning. A hybrid cloud architecture is proposed to enhance the capability of sensing devices （SD） to realize the proposed vision.
