Decline of semen quality during IVF is not associated with subjective male stress

The aim of the present study was to assess if semen quality declines during in vitro fertilization （IVF） and whether or not this phenomenon is triggered by chronic male stress. In order to test this hypothesis, we first investigated a retrospective cohort of 155 male IVF patients （testing cohort）. Subsequently, we started a prospective cohort study in men undergoing their first IVF and assessed semen quality and subjective male chronic stress using a validated tool, i.e. the Fertility Problem Inventory （FPI） questionnaire. The association between stress and sperm quality decline measured 4-6weeks before the start of IVF （T1） and at the day of oocyte retrieval （T2） was the primary outcome. Live birth rate, first trimester abortion and rate of poor responders were secondary outcomes. In the testing cohort, mean progressive motility, but not mean sperm density significantly declined. There were 78/154 （51%） men who showed a decline in semen density and 50/154 （32%） men who showed a decline in progressive motility. In the validation cohort, progressive motility declined, whereas, sperm density increased from T1 to T2. Of 78 men, 27 men had increased stress （FPI-score 〉 146）. Sperm density and progressive motility were not significantly different in men with and without stress. However, in the presence of male stress, couples had a higher rate of poor responders, miscarriages and a lower rate of live births. Subjective stress is not associated with a decline in semen quality observed during IVF but may be associated with adverse ore^nancv outcome.

Symbiotic root nodules are root lateral organs of plants in which nitrogen-fixing bacteria(rhizobia)convert atmospheric nitrogen to *** formation and number of nodules in legumes are precisely controlled by a rhizobia-induced signal cascade and host-controlled autoregulation of nodulation(AON).However,how these pathways are integrated and their underlying mechanisms are ***,we report that microRNA172c(miR172c)activates soybean(Glycine max)R hizobia-induced CLE1(GmRICI)and GmRIC2 by removing the transcriptional repression of these genes by Nodule Number Control 1(NNC1),leading to the activation of the AON ***1 interacts with GmNINa,the soybean ortholog of Lotus NODULE INCEPTION(NIN),and hampers its transcriptional activation o i G m RICI and ***,GmNINa acts as a transcriptional activator of ***,NNC1 can transcriptionally repress miR172c expression,adding a negative feedback loop into the NNC1 regulatory ***,GmNINa interacts with NNC1 and can relieve the NNC1-mediated repression of miR172c ***,the GmNINa-miR172c-NNC1 network is a master switch that coordinately regulates and optimizes NF and AON signaling,supporting the balance between nodulation and AON in soybean.

We thank the commentator for his valuable insights as expressed in the above commentary. We fully agree that numerous lines of evidence support the assumption that male as well as female stress and the interaction of the stressed couple plays a role in the success of assisted reproduction. Furthermore, it is common ground that in vitro fertilization （IVF）/intracytoplasmic sperm injection （ICSI） couples are an especially vulnerable patient collective in this respect. We have, however, not yet identified the optimal means of measuring stress or the relevant aspects of it during the management of couples undergoing IVF/ICSI. This fact is also highlighted by our findings,t Further work is necessary to identify efficient and reliable tools to measure and treat stress in males and females undergoing IVF/ICSI with the goal of further improving reproductive outcomes.

Understanding how plants respond to nitrogen in their environment is crucial for determining how they use it and how the nitrogen use affects other processes related to plant growth and development. Under nitrogen limitation the activity and affinity of uptake systems is increased in roots, and lateral root formation is regulated in order to adapt to low nitrogen levels and scavenge from the soil. Plants in the legume family can form associations with rhizobial nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and this association is tightly regulated by nitrogen levels. The effect of nitrogen on nodulation has been extensively investigated, but the effects of nodulation on plant nitrogen responses remain largely unclear. In this study, we integrated molecular and phenotypic data in the legume Medicago truncatula and determined that genes controlling nitrogen influx are differently expressed depending on whether plants are mock or rhizobia inoculated. We found that a functional autoregulation of nodulation pathway is required for roots to perceive, take up, and mobilize nitrogen as well as for normal root development. Our results together revealed that autoregulation of nodulation, root development, and the location of nitrogen are processes balanced by the whole plant system as part of a resource-partitioning mechanism.

Recent shifts in shade tolerance and disturbance traits in forests of the eastern United States

Near horizon ott black hole asymptotic symmetries and soft hair

We study the near horizon geometry of both static and stationary extremal Oliva Tempo Troncoso(ott)black holes. For each of these cases, a set of consistent asymptotic conditions is introduced. The canonical generator for the static configuration is shown to be regular. For the rotating ott black hole, the asymptotic symmetry is described by the time reparametrization, the chiral Virasoro and centrally extended u(1) Kac-Moody algebras.

Diffuse Large b-Cell Lymphoma with Anaplastic Clear Cells: A Rare Variant

Introduction: Diffuse Large b-Cell Lymphoma (DLbCL) is a heterogeneous group conformed by morphological and clinical varieties of neoplasms;it originates from peripheral b-cells and is distinguished into three groups: germinal center (GC), activated b lymphocyte (AbL), and the third type. The existence of DLbCL with anaplastic morphology and expression of CD30 without t (2;5) translocation is rare. The aim of the present article is to describe this morphologic variant in a 54-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man, respectively. Materials and Methods: Patients diagnosed with DLbCL with anaplastic variant were identified from the surgical pathology records. Results: Out of 357 biopsies with this diagnosis, 11 (3%) corresponded to the anaplastic variant, 2 presented morphological clear cells;they became visible because of an increase in volume in the cervical area of 4 months of evolution, usually associated to diaphoresis and weight loss with clinical fulminating progression. An autopsy study was performed to one patient and it showed infiltration in supraclavicular lymph nodes, thyroid, and lung. The neoplastic cells presented abundant clear cytoplasm and pleomorphic nuclei that expressed CD20, CD30 and CD45. Conclusion: This variation is rare. The clinical presentation and prognosis are controversial;we present the morphological and immunophenotype changes of this variant. The differential diagnosis from other clear cell neoplasms should be made.

Feelings of stigmatization are an important somatopsychic consequence of psoriasis, affecting the quality of life. It is thus relevant to supplement reliable statements about the detailed changes of stigmatization experience and psoriasis over time. In this study we compared the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI), the ’ self-administered PASI’ (SPASI) and the ’ Questionnaire on Experience with Skin Complaints’ of 166 psoriasis patients (64 women, 102 men) in a 1- year follow- up to assess the relation between these factors over time. The results suggest a more pronounced feeling of discrimination in women with no significant somatic differences between gender at the first measurement. In a prospective evaluation we found a clear proportion of ’discordant’ courses of these parameters, mainly in women, indicating a contradictory relation of somatic improvement or deterioration vssubjective experience with skin complaints. All in all, these results show a moderate but significant relevance of skin state for feeling of stigmatization over time only in men, thus suggesting a considerable influence of other psychic variables, probably coping skills, especially in women.
