It is of great scientific and economic value to recycle waste poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)into high-value PET-based metal organic frameworks(MOFs)and further convert it into porous carbon for green energy storage *** the present study,a facile and costeffective hydrothermal process was developed to direct recycle waste PET bottles into MIL-53(Al)with a 100% conversation,then the MOFderived porous carbon was assembled into electrodes for high-performance *** results indicated that the as-synthesized carbon exhibited high SSA of 1712 m^(2)g^(-1)and unique accordion-like structure with hierarchical *** to these advantageous characters,the assembled three-electrode supercapacitor displayed high specific capacitances of 391 F g^(-1)at the current density of 0.5 A g^(-1)and good rate capability of 73.6% capacitance retention at 20 A g^(-1)in 6 mol L^(-1)KOH ***,the assembled zinc ion capacitor still revealed outstanding capacitance of 335 F g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1),excellent cycling stability of 92.2% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles and ultra-high energy density of 150.3 Wh kg^(-1)at power density of 90 W kg^(-1)in 3 mol L^(-1)ZnSO_(4)*** is believed that the current work provides a facile and effective strategy to recycle PET waste into high-valuable MOF,and further expands the applications of MOF-derived carbons for high-performance energy storage devices,so it is conducive to both pollution alleviation and sustainable economic development.

background:Peatlands form one of the largest carbon pools in the terrestrial ecosystems,representing approximately one-third of the world’s soil *** aim of this study was to evaluate C:N:P stoichiometry as an indicator of changes initialized by dehydration in Histosols of varied *** types of Histosols from lowland and mountain areas were investigated:fibric Histosols,hemic Histosols,sapric Histosols and Histosols ***:We established the concentration and stoichiometry of carbon,nitrogen and phosphorous in the Histosols,and found marked differences in C:N:P stoichiometry between the different types–especially the dehydrated *** mean C:N:P ratio of dehydrated soil was narrower than the C:N:P ratio of soil under the influence of water,which demonstrates that dehydrating Histosols leads to a narrower C:N:P *** is directly related to the intensification of the organic matter mineralisation process and the resulting loss of organic *** recorded a 50%lower carbon stock in the case of Histosols drainic compared to the other types of ***:The narrower C:N:P stoichiometry in Histosols drainic is the result of an decrease in the ratio of N and P to the C ***,this study demonstrates that C:N:P stoichiometry is a useful indicator of the changes that occur in Histosols as a result of dehydration.

In Poland the phase in which precipitation occurs impacts the availability of water in its reservoirs,the potential for hydrological droughts,snowfall flooding and winter *** influence of warming on the occurrence of precipitation phases on the Polish scale has not been studied so *** on data from 42 synoptic stations for the period 1966-2020,this study discusses trends in the indices of liquid(Lq),mixed(Mx)and solid(Sd)precipitation describing their totals(T),frequencies(Nd)and contribution to overall precipitation totals(T%)and a number of days with overall precipitation(Nd%)from a seasonal ***,the influence of seasonal and daily air temperatures on longterm variability in the precipitation phase indices was *** precipitation phase was discriminated based on the observations of weather phenomena noted as current and past weather considering days with precipitation0.1 *** phases significantly reacted to current *** strongest and widespread were increasing trends in rains(+1.74 for LqNd,+5.35 mm for LqT,+3.51%for LqNd%,+4.08%for LqT%per decade)and decreasing trends in snowfalls(-1.92 for SdNd,-3.12 mm for SdT,-3.65%for SdNd%,-3.26%for SdT%per decade)in winter when the warming was weakest but average temperature was close to freezing *** winter,air temperature explained 60%e80%of the variance in the frequency of snowfall and *** air temperature>-2℃ contributed to trends in winter rainfall while daily air temperature>1C most contributed to trends in winter *** trends in winter mixed precipitation were due to opposite changes in its frequency above and below 1℃.In spring,the increase in a liquid phase was due more to the melting of a solid and mixed phase,while in autumn,it was due more to the transformation of a mixed phase into a liquid *** spring,air temperature explained at most 30%-50%of the variance in the indices of snowfall *** trends in mixed precipit

The main objective of our study has been to determine the role of deadwood in the shaping of the amount of soil organic matter fractions in mountain forest *** this purpose,a climosequence approach comprising north(N)and south(S)exposure along the altitudinal gradient(600,800,1000 and 1200 m a.s.l.)was set *** comparing the properties of decomposing deadwood and those of the soils located directly beneath the decaying wood we drew conclusions about the role of deadwood in the shaping of soil organic matter fractions and soil carbon storage in different climate *** basic properties,enzymatic activity and fractions of soil organic matter(SOM)were determined in deadwood and affected directly by the components released from decaying *** decomposed deadwood impacts soil organic matter stabilization more strongly than the less decayed deadwood and the light fraction of SOM is more sensitive to deadwood effects than the heavy fraction regardless of the location in the altitude *** in SOM mineral-associated fraction C content is more pronounced in soils under the influence of deadwood located in lower locations of warmer *** released from decaying wood stimulate the enzymatic activity of soils that are within the range of deadwood influence.

We investigated the relationships between dehydrogenase activity and the physicochemical properties of mountain soils over three and five years from Norway spruce(Picea abies L. Karst) logging residue spot burning and the occurrence of epigeic carabid beetles. Six study sites were utilised, including18 study plots(nine plots in a mixed coniferous mountain forest site and nine plots in a mixed broadleaf mountain forest site), with five replicate pitfall traps at each site located in southern *** samples from the organic horizon were taken for p H, organic carbon, nitrogen, base cation content,acidity and dehydrogenase activity *** beetles were monitored in weekly intervals during the period of July to August 2016. The burning of logging residues led to modified soil properties,especially the dehydrogenase activity. In all the tested variants, the activity was higher in soil samples after the burning in comparison to the control variants. We show no positive correlation between dehydrogenase activity and the number of carabid specimens. The preferences of dominant predatory hygrophilous carabids to acid habitats with weakly decomposed organic matter were proven. Simultaneously, the soil organic matter content was positively related to the carabid abundance. The significant impact of forest site conditions and the date of logging residue burning on the number of caught specimens were confirmed. In contrast, no relationships between the species richness, species diversity, mean individual biomass and spot burning effect were found. This work supports the recommendation of spruce fine woody debris utilisation by spot burning on mountain regions with rich habitats presenting moderate wet conditions and small land falls.

Interactions between ecological communities of herbivores and microbes are commonly mediated by a shared plant. A tripartite interaction between a pathogenic fungus-host plant-herbivorous insect is an example of such mutual influences. In such a system a fungal pathogen commonly has a negative influence on the morphology and biochemistry of the host plant, with consequences for insect herbivore performance. Here we studied whether the biotrophic fbngus Podosphaera ferruginea, attacking the great burnet Sanguisorba officinalis, affects caterpillar performance of the endangered scarce large blue butterfly Phengaris teleius. Our results showed that the pathogenic ftmgus affected the number and size of inflorescences produced by food-plants and, more importantly, had in direct, plant-mediated effects on the abun dance, body mass and immune response of caterpillars. Specifically, we found the relationship between caterpillar abundance and variability in inflorescence size on a plant to be positive among healthy food-plants, and negative among infected food-plants. Caterpillars that fed on healthy food-plants were smaller than those that fed on infected food-plants in one studied season, while there was no such difference in the other season. We observed the relationship between caterpillar immune response and the proportion of infected great burnets within a habitat patch to be positive when caterpillars fed on healthy food-plants, and negative when caterpillars fed on infected food-plants. Our results suggest that this biotrophic fungal infection of the great burnet may impose a significant indirect influence on P. teleius caterpillar performance with potential consequences for the population dynamics and structure of this endangered butterfly.

background: Fires have a fundamental impact on phytocoenoses and, depending on the size of the fire, can have a positive or negative effect. The role of fires in the formation of the species composition of plants, restoration of stands and changes in soil properties is well studied. However, the long-term relationship between forest management methods, soil properties and epigeic entomofauna assemblages in post-fire areas is still not clear. The effects of Scots pine stand management methods on biochemical soil properties and ground beetle assemblages in the largest post-fire area in Central Europe after the second World were investigated. The study was conducted in the Rudy Raciborskie Forest district in southern Poland. The soil properties and epigeic beetle community structure were analysed. The research covered areas with natural and artificial pine regeneration, which were sub.ected to various care ***: The tendency for higher accumulations of organic matter in the soil of stands that underwent natural regeneration was proven. The stimulating role of soil organic carbon on the activity of dehydrogenases in the soil of naturally renewed areas with silvicultural treatment(NRAT) was noted. Regardless of the manner of stand regeneration, the activity of β-glucosidase was higher in the areas in which breeding treatments were ***, managed forest stands presented a higher abundance of carabid beetles than stands without treatment practices. Thirteen epigeic beetle species from the families Geotrupidae, Carabidae, Curculionidae,Cerambycidae and Silphidae were captured, with beetles from the first two families being the most numerous. Rare epigeal carabid species in the fauna of Poland and Europe, such as Carabus glabratus(Paykull) and Carabus auronitens Fabr., found appropriate habitat conditions for survival in the post-fire areas. Objective： Iron deficiency is a common complication in patients with polycythemia vera （PV）. Hepcidin is a principal regulator of iron homeostasis. The aim of our study was to assess prohepcidin, a hepcidin precursor, and other iron status pa- rameters in the serum of PV patients. Methods： The study was performed in 60 patients （F/M 26/34） aged 38-84 （66＋ 10） years. The control group consisted of 20 healthy volunteers, age and sex matched. The following parameters were determined in blood serum samples： prohepcidin concentration, iron content, unsaturated iron binding capacity （UIbC）, total iron binding capacity （TIbC）, transferrin saturation （TfS）, and concentrations of ferritin and solub.e transferrin receptor （sTfR）. Results： All PV patients showed significantly lower levels of prohepcidin, higher levels of sTIR and TIbC compared to the control group. 40% of the patients from the study group showed concentrations of ferritin below the normal range and significantly lower levels of serum iron and TfS, and significantly higher levels of sTIR, UIbC and TIbC in comparison with the rest of the study group. In this group of patients, prohepcidin concentrations were significantly lower than those in other patients. Conclusion： The results indicate that PV patients suffer from iron metabolism disorders. The decreased serum level ofprohepcidin in PV patients may be a result of iron deficiency.

In the present work,the transparent oxyfluoride glass-ceramic samples containing GdF3:RE^3+(RE=Tb,Eu)nanocrystals(nGCs)were fabricated via controlled heat-treatment of precursor xerogels prepared using a sol-gel *** formation of GdF3 nanocrystalline phase from gadolinium(III)trifluoroacetate was verified based on XRD *** average crystal sizes calculated from Scherrer formula were estimated to^10 nm as well as^6 nm for Tb^3+-and Eu^3+-doped samples,*** optical behavior of prepared sol-gel samples was evaluated based on photoluminescence excitation(PLE)and emission spectra(PL)as well as luminescence decay *** samples exhibit the 5D4→7FJ(J=6-3,Tb3+)and the 5D0→7FJ(J=0-4,Eu3+)emission bands recorded within the visible spectral area under excitation at near-UV(393 nm(Eu^3+),351,369,378 nm(Tb^3+))as well as middle-UV illumination(273 nm(Gd3+)).Additionally,based on recorded decay curves,the luminescence lifetimes(τm)for the 5D4(Tb^3+)and the 5D0(Eu3+)excited states were also *** general,recorded luminescence spectra and doub.e-exponential character of decay curves for nGCs indicate a successful migration of Tb^3+and Eu^3+dopant ions from amorphous silicate framework to lowphonon energy GdF3 nanocrystal phase.
