This paper presents an analytical study of creeping motion of a permeable sphere in a spherical container filled with a micro-polar fluid. The drag experienced by the permeable sphere when it passes through the center of the spherical container is studied. Stream function solutions for the flow fields are obtained in terms of modified bessel functions and Gegenbauer functions. The pressure fields, the micro-rotation components, the drag experienced by a permeable sphere, the wall correction factor, and the flow rate through the permeable surface are obtained for the frictionless impermeable spherical container and the zero shear stress at the impermeable spherical container. Variations of the drag force and the wall correction factor with respect to different fluid parameters are studied. It is observed that the drag force, the wall correction factor, and the flow rate are greater for the frictionless impermeable spherical container than the zero shear stress at the impermeable spherical container. Several cases of interest are deduced from the present analysis.

The Chlorella microalgae were mixotrophically cultivated in an unsterilized and unfikered raw foodprocessing industrial wastewater. both inorganic carbon （CO2-air） and organic carbon （wastewater） were provided simultaneously for microalgae growth. The aim of the study is to find out the utilization rates of total organic carbon （TOC） and chemical oxygen demand （COD） under mixotrophic conditions for a given waste water. About 90% reduction in TOC and COD were obtained for all dilutions of wastewater. Over 60% of nitrate and 40% of phosphate were consumed by microalgae from concentrated raw wastewater. This study shows that microalgae can use both organic and inorganic sources of carbon in more or less quantity under mixotrophic conditions. The growth of microalgae in food-processing industrial wastewater with all studied dilution factors, viz. zero （raw）, 1.6 （dilution A）, and 5 （dilution b） suggests that the freshwater requirement could be reduced substantially （20%-60%）. The degradation kinetics also suggests that the microalgae cultivation on a high COD wastewater is feasible and scalable.

Thalidomide treats multiple myeloma and protracts life-span of patient, but its bioavailability is limited as it is poorly water soluble. Thalidomide nano-flakes are produced to improve the drug dissolution rate. Two nanoflake production methods are utilized for a comparative study： a supercritical antisolvent （SAS） method and a supercritical antisolvent with enhanced mass transfer （SAS-EM）. SAS-EM utilizes ultrasonication to improve dispersion upon injection within the supercritical carbon dioxide. Comparative study of SAS and SAS-EM thalidomide confirmed that the application of ultrasonication improved the micro/nano particles produced by SAS. The effects of ultrasound power on the formation of thalidomide particles are examined. The particle size and morphology were characterized by SEM. The thalidomide nano-flakes produced by SAS-EM were smaller than the particles produced by SAS. Dissolution rates of the produced particles, evaluated by HPLC, demonstrated an increase in the thalidomide dissolution rate for the SAS-EM produced particles, The polymorphs and crystallinity of thalidomide particles （flakes） were observed by FTIR and XRD. In this research, the supercritical processing significantly modified the crystal formation of thalidomide from an original state of a β-polymorph to the amorphous state α-polymorph after suoercritical orocessing.

In this study,polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)–ionic liquid(IL) membranes were prepared for the separation of isopropyl alcohol(IPA)–water azeotropic mixtures by ***-IL composite membranes were prepared by simple solvent evaporation method using four ILs,viz.,1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride(bMIMCl),1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride(HMIMCl),1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tetra fluoroborate(HMIMbF4) and 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride(OMIMCl).Three ILs were used to study the effect of alkyl chain on the pervaporation *** study had focused on the effect feed water concentration from 10%–40%and effect of feed temperature from 50–80°*** properties of all the membranes were studied using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and contact angle *** Arrhenius activation energies for permeation were estimated to be in the range 4–12 kJ·mol-1 from the temperature dependent permeation values.

This work explores the use of carbon dioxide,water,and their mixtures as solvent for the precombustion beneficiation of raw coal without using any toxic mineral acids in the temperature range of 200-400℃.The fluid polarity,ionic constant,and supercritical point can be adjusted by H_(2)O/CO_(2)ratio and *** carbon dioxide to hydrothermal fluid also increases the ionization by forming carbonic *** with supercritical fluids have several benefits including enhanced mass transport,ease of separation and recycle,wide range of extractive capability and tunability,better inherent safety,and in the case of carbon dioxide and water-low cost.A semi-continuous extraction system was designed and built in which pressure,temperature and the relative flow rates of CO_(2)and H_(2)O can be *** powder is kept in a packed bed and the extraction is carried out at 143 bar *** sulfur as a model heteroatom,extractive efficiency is examined as a function of the temperature,fluid composition,fluid flow,and extraction *** results indicate that carbon dioxide,water,and supercritical water-carbon dioxide(ScWC)all can effectively extract about 50%of total sulfur from bituminous coal in 1 *** above 350℃decreased effectiveness,and extraction above the supercritical point of pure water caused hydrothermal *** extraction may provide necessary control to prevent organic dissolution while removing sulfur.

Discovery of immune checkpoint inhibitors has revolutionized the field of *** checkpoints play a key role in maintaining immune homeostasis and preventing *** normal situation,immune responses are regulated by a balance between co-stimulatory and inhibitory signals referred to as"immune checkpoints".Activated T cells express multiple co-inhibitory receptors such as lymphocyte-activation gene 3(LAG-3),programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)and cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4(CTLA-4)that are primary mediators of immune effector responses to self-proteins,chronic infections and tumor *** tumors these immune checkpoints allow the tumor cells to dodge anti-tumor response(1).Checkpoint inhibitors(CPI)block these immune checkpoints allowing the immune system to attack tumor cells(2).Although the immune system has the inherent ability to distinguish self from non-self and thus typically mount an attack on the non-self-cancer cells;over-activation of the immune response can lead to serious adverse events collectively called immune-related adverse events(irAEs)(3).While activation of the immune system and development of irAEs has been associated with better outcomes for underlying cancer(4),the associated side effects increase morbidity and mortality in addition to having a negative impact on patient’s quality of *** associated with CPI therapy can have delayed manifestation and present after the CPI have been discontinued(5).

Dissemination of vancomycin resistance from hospital to community strains is a serious threat to public health. Our study aimed to provide evidence for transmission of Van A type resistance from the hospital to the community. Wild-type community and hospital associated methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains were studied in vitro and in a model that mimicked a natural environment to ascertain their ability to acquire and maintain the vancomycin resistance determinant （Van A gene） from vancomycin resistant Enterococcus faecalis. Fitness was assessed and the cost of Van A acquisition and retention was estimated. In vitro mating experiments were carried out using a filter mating technique and a model of a natural water body environment. Transfer of resistance was carried out in two different conditions： restricted and favorable. Transconjugants were confirmed by E test and PCR using specific primer sets. Growth kinetics and fitness measurements were done by spectrometric analysis. Using the in vitro filter mating technique, high transfer frequencies that ranged from 0.7 × 10^-3（0.0006） to 3.1 ×10^-4（0.00011） were recorded, with the highest transfer frequencies for CA MRSA （thermosensitively homogenous）（0.7 × 10^- 3）, and 1.2 × 10^-4 to 2.4 × 10^-4 in the model. HA MRSA （homogenous） showed a greater capacity （3.6 ×10^-4） to receive the Van A gene, while CA MRSA showed a reduced ability to maintain the gene after serial subcultures. CA and HA thermosensitively heterogeneous MRSA transconjugants exhibited higher growth rates. The present study provides evidence for the enhanced ability of CA and HA MRSA clones to acquire and maintain Van A type resistance.
