background :Non-Hodgkin lymphomas are the first childhood cancer in sub-Saharan Africa. Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess non-Hodgkin lymphomas cases in our setting. Methodology: A retrospective and descriptive study carried out in the pediatric oncology unit of the Gabriel Touré Teaching Hospital bamako over 10 years from 1st January 2005 to 31th December 2015. Results: We exploited 274 (21.6%) cases of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma out of 1295 cancer cases registered, the age group 6 - 10 years was the most represented (46.4%);the male sex was predominant with a sex-ratio of 1.8;digestive signs were the most common signs of discovery (44.2%) followed by maxillary swelling (42.7%);the majority of patients (52.9%) consulted between 1 and 3 months after the onset of signs;the malnutrition rate was 39.8%, of which 24.1% were severe cases and 15.7% were moderate rate. Abdominal localization was the most common (43.1%) followed by maxillofacial localization (33.9%). Almost all were burkitt type cytology (92.7%), the majority (73.4%) were in Murphy stage III. Almost all (96%) had received chemotherapy and the modified LMb 01 protocol was widely used (62.4%). The majority of patients (85%) were chemosensitive at day 7 or after the third cyclophosphamide injection but at the end of induction only 31% were in complete remission. Gastrointestinal toxicity was the most common (37.13%) followed by hematologic toxicity 35.09 %;9.12 % of patients were lost of follow-up and 22.26% died. Tumor progression was the most common cause of death (60.66%) followed by infection (21.31%). Conclusion: In light of these findings, the late diagnosis and the poor management of NHL, as well as the limited ability to primarily treat metabolic complications, explain the high case-fatality rate, hence the important role of early diagnosis and treatment multidisciplinary.

Introduction: Neonatal asphyxia (NA) is one of the most likely causes of neuro-developmental abnormalities in children. In Mali it is responsible for half of the early deaths and the third of neonatal mortality. Updated data would help understand and improve intervention strategies to reduce mortality. Objective: It is the study of epidemiological and clinical characteristics, the immediate outcome and the factors associated with newborn (Nb) mortality with NA. Material and Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study from June 27th to September 3rd 2016 about the Nbs admitted for NA in the Hospital Teaching Gabriel Touré of bamako. The clinical and biological data including the prognosis were collected from the health records of women, the liaison sheets and the medical file. The analysis was done using the software Epi info version 3.5.1. Results: 76 Nbs were included which represented 23.45% of hospitalizations. The majority (89.5%, n = 68) were admitted to less than 24 hours of life for NA grade III according to the Sarnat classification (43.4%, n = 33). The average age of mothers was 24.17 ± 5.5 years. Almost half (41.3%, n = 31) were primigravida. The most common obstetrical event was dystocia (64.5%, n = 49). The prognosis was poor in grade III anoxia in our patients (56%) of deaths. Conclusion: The périnatal anoxia (PA) is a major health issue in Mali because of its frequency and severity. Monitoring of pregnancies, delivery assisted by skillful and qualified personnel, mastery of neonatal resuscitation techniques are good means of prevention.

b_(4)C/Al composites are widely utilized as neutron absorbing materials for the storage and transportation of spent nuclear *** order to improve the high-temperature mechanical properties of b_(4)C/Al composites,in-situ nano-Al_(2)O_(3)was introduced utilizing oxide on Al powder *** this study,the Al_(2)O_(3)content was adjusted by utilizing spheroid Al powder with varying diameters,thereby investigating the impact of Al_(2)O_(3)content on the tensile properties of(b_(4)C+Al_(2)O_(3))/Al *** was found that the pinning effect of Al_(2)O_(3)on the grain boundaries could hinder the recovery of dislocations and lead to dislocation accumulation at high *** the result,with the increase in Al_(2)O_(3)content and the decrease in grain size,the high-temperature strength of the composites increased *** finest Al powder used in this investigation had a diameter of 1.4μm,whereas the resultant composite exhibited a maximum strength of 251 MPa at room temperature and 133 MPa at 350℃,surpassing that of traditional b_(4)C/Al composites.

Rare earth-doped mixed Ni-Cu-Zn ferrites as an effective photocatalytic agent for active degradation of Rhodamine b dye

In this study, a series of Gd^(3+)-doped mixed Ni-Cu-Zn ferrites with composition of Zn_(0.5)Ni_(0.3)Cu_(0.2)Fe_(2-x)Gd_(x)O_(4)(x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1) was prepared using self-ignition sol-gel method. The prepared nanoparticles with an average size ranging from 22 to 26 nm show a single-phase cubic structure belonging to the spinel matrix. A rise in the Gd^(3+)concentration leads to an increase in crystallite size and lattice parameter. In Fourier transform infrared spectra, two main absorption bands belonging to the spinel structure are observed. The high-frequency bands(v_(1)) represent the tetrahedral complex, while the lowfrequency bands(v_(2)) signify the octahedral complex. The optical bandgap of the nanoferrites is found within the range of 2.91 to 2.41 eV, depending on their size. The magnetic characteristics of the material,such as saturation magnetization and coercivity are significantly altered with the concentration of Gd^(3+)in the solution. Using Rhodamine b(Rhb) as a model organic pollutant, an in-depth investigation of the photocatalytic activity of the compounds was carried out. The present outcomes show that adding an adequate amount of Gd^(3+)significantly enhances the number of hydroxyl radicals produced by the ferrite,in turn, increasing the photocatalytic activity of the material. Mechanism elucidated by scavenger studies reveals that ·OH and holes are the primary reactive radicals responsible for the degradation *** photocatalysts show an insignificant performance loss in five consecutive cycles. Thus, it is concluded that these photocatalysts are highly suitable for the remediation of dye-contaminated wastewater.

Gravity models given by higher-order scalar curvature corrections are believed to bear important consequences. Einstein-bel-Robinson (EbR) gravity with quartic curvature modification motivated Sajadi et al. to explore static spherically symmetric black hole solutions using perturbative methods. In this study, inspired by their work, we investigate AdS black hole shadows in EbR gravity and demonstrate how the gravity parameter alters the energy emission rate. Finally, we address the same problem in the presence of plasma, because the black holes are thought to be surrounded by a medium that changes the geodesic of photons.

Soils in extraterrestrial space: Need for studies under microgravity

With the increased interest of plants in space, gravity cannot be ignored when studying soil-plant-water relations. Therefore, it is important to understand the water relations of soils under zero gravity in space or under reduced gravity on the Moon or Mars. This paper outlines the problems of moving water in soils under zero gravity or microgravity, as well as growing plants in these soils. It is suggested that microgravity experiments could be done on Earth using both soils and plants. Results from such experiments could be used to grow plants when mankind establishes bases on the Moon and Mars.

CompactChain:an efficient stateless chain for UTXO-model blockchain

In this work,we propose a stateless blockchain called CompactChain,which compacts the entire state of the UTXO(Unspent Transaction Output)based blockchain systems into two RSA *** first accumulator is called Transaction Output(TXO)commitment which represents the TXO *** second one is called Spent Transaction Output(STXO)commitment which represents the STXO *** this work,we discuss three algorithms:(i)To update the TXO and STXO commitments by the *** miner also provides the proofs for the correctness of the updated commitments;(ii)To prove the transaction’s validity by providing a membership witness in TXO commitment and non-membership witness against STXO commitment for a coin being spent by a user;(iii)To update the witness for the coin that is not yet spent;The experimental results evaluate the performance of the CompactChain in terms of time taken by a miner to update the commitments and time taken by a validator to verify the commitments and validate the *** compare the performance of CompactChain with the existing state-of-the-art works on stateless *** shows a reduction in commitments update complexity and transaction witness size which inturn reduces the mempool size and propagation latency without compromising the system throughput(Transactions per second(TPS)).

In recent years,many researchers focused on unsupervised learning for network anomaly detection in edge devices to identify *** deployment of the unsupervised autoencoder model is computationally expensive in resource-constrained edge *** study proposes quantized autoencoder(QAE)model for intrusion detection systems to detect *** is an optimization model derived from autoencoders that incorporate pruning,clustering,and integer quantization *** autoencoder uint8(QAE-u8)and quantized autoencoder float16(QAE-f16)are two variants of QAE built to deploy computationally expensive Al models into Edge ***,we have generated a Real-Time Internet of Things 2022 dataset for normal and attack *** autoencoder model operates on normal traffic during the training *** same model is then used to reconstruct anomaly traffic under the assumption that the reconstruction error(RE)of the anomaly will be high,which helps to identify the ***,we study the performance of the autoencoders,QAE-u8,and QAE-f16 using accuracy,precision,recall,and F1 score through an extensive experimental *** showed that QAE-u8 outperforms all other models with a reduction of 70.01%in average memory utilization,92.23%in memory size compression,and 27.94%in peak CPU ***,the proposed QAE-u8 model is more suitable for deployment on resource-constrained IoT edge devices.
