The purpose of this research was to apply statistical design for the preparation of a gastric floating tablet(GFT)of propranolol HCl and to investigate the effect of formulation variables on drug release and the buoyancy properties of the delivery *** contents of polyethylene oxide(PEO)WSR coagulant and sodium bicarbonate were used as independent variables in central composite design of the best *** effects and interaction terms of the formulation variables were evaluated quantitatively using a mathematical model approach showing that both independent variables have significant effects on floating lag time,%drug release at 1 h(D_(1h))and time required to release 90%of the drug(t_(90)).The desired function was used to optimize the response variables,each with a different target,and the observed responses were in good agreement with the experimental *** and DSC studies of the statistically optimized formulation revealed there was no chemical interaction between drug and *** statistically optimized formulation released drug according to first order kinetics with a non-Fickian diffusion *** of the optimized formulation in vivo in human volunteers showed that the GFT was buoyant in gastric fluid and that its gastric residence time was enhanced in the fed but not the fasted state.

Aim: Whole genome sequencing and functional annotation of bacillus nealsonii strain AAU1, an amylolytic anaerobic spore forming isolate from ruminal contents of buffalo. Methods and Results: Morphologically, the strain was observed as slender Grampositive rods, occurring in pairs. Optimal growth was observed at 40°C (range: 30°C to 45°C) and pH 6.5 (range: 5.5 to 7.5) when cultivated in Hungate’s medium supplemented with starch. The microorganism showed extracellular constitutive amylolytic activity, proving to be capable of utilizing glucose, maltose, mannose, trehalose, dextrin and starch under anaerobic conditions. Sequence analysis revealed a GC content of 35.1 mol%. Comparison of housekeeping gene sequences for RNA polymerase subunit b (rpob) and gyrase A (gyrA) identified sequence similarity within the bacillus genus, confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity which identified bacillus nealsonii DSM 15077 as the closest publically available relative. Chemotaxonomic analysis provided conflicting results with straight-chain saturated C16: 0/C16:0 aldehyde, C16:0 DMA, C14:0 and monounsaturated 16:1w7c and 16:1w9c the major fatty acids in contrast to those reported for b. nealsonii DSM15077. Further characterization using AN-bilog and physiological parameters provided genotypic and phenotypic support for taxonomic classification of isolate AAU1 with published bacillus species including b. licheniformis, b. subtilis, b. circulans and b. nealsonii. Conclusion: based on the data presented, isolate is likely to represent a new strain/subspecies, for which the identifier b. nealsonii AAU1 is proposed. Significance and Impact of Study: The strict anaerobic conditions prevailing in the bovine rumen from where AAU1 was isolated may have resulted in genetic polymorphism influencing its metabolic characteristics.

Development and Validation of Stability Indicating LC Method for Olmesartan Medoxomil

The present method provides the detailed description of development and validation of a simple stability indicating re- verse phase column liquid chromatographic method for Olmesartan in the presence of its impurities namely Imp-A, Imp-b, Imp-C, Imp-D, Imp-E, Imp-F and Imp-G and degradation products generated from forced degradation studies. The drug substance was subjected to stress conditions of aqueous hydrolysis, Oxidative, photolytic and thermal stress degradation. The degradation of Olmesartan was observed under acid hydrolysis, base hydrolysis and peroxide. The drug was found to be stable to other stress conditions attempted. Successful separation of the drug from synthetic impu- rities and degradation products formed under stress conditions was achieved on symmetry C18, 150 mm × 4.6 mm, 5μ column using a phosphate buffer, Acetonitrile and Milli Q water. The developed LC method was validated with respect to specificity, linearity, accuracy, precision, raggedness and robustness. The assay method was found to be linear in the range of 250 μg?mL–1 to with 1000 μg?mL–1 correlation coefficient of 0.9999 and the linearity of the impurities was es- tablished from LOQ to 0.4%. Recoveries of assay and impurities were found between 98.5% and 101.2%. The devel- oped LC method to determine the related substances and assay determinations of Olmesartan can be used to evaluate the quality of regular production samples and stability samples. To best of our knowledge, the validated stability indi- cating LC method which separates all the impurities disclosed in this investigation was not published elsewhere.

The corrosion inhibition efficiencies of four compounds namely N-[（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]-N-phenylamine（CQMA）,N-（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]-N-（4-fluorophenyl）amine（CQMFA）,N-（4-chloro phenyl）-N-[（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]amine（CQMCA）,and N-（4-bromo phenyl）-N-[（1E）-（2-chloroquinolin-3-yl）methylene]amine（CQMbA）on mild steel corrosion in hydrochloric acid media were investigated using mass loss,potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance *** all the studied inhibitors the inhibition efficiency values were found to increase with increasing concentration up to 5.00×10-4 mol·*** electron microscopic technique showed the formation of a thick film on the steel surface in the presence of inhibitors.

Hepatitis b virus(HbV) infection is a global health problem. It is estimated there are more than 2 billion individuals exposed to the virus and 250 million are chronically infected. Hepatitis b is the cause of more than 600000 annual deaths due to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. An effective vaccine exists and preventative initiatives center around universal vaccination especially in those at highest risk. Effective vaccination algorithms have led to a significant decline in the development of new infections and its devastating consequences. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly in three doses, with 95% showing long lasting serologic immunity. An additional fourth dose or a repeated higher dose three course regimen is given to those that fail to show immunity. Despite these additional regimens, some remain vulnerable to hepatitis b and are deemed nonresponders. Individuals with chronic disease states such as kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, as well as those with a genetic predisposition, and those on immunomodulation therapy, have the highest likelihood of non-response. Various strategies have been developed to elicit an immune response in these individuals. These include increased vaccination dose, intradermal administration, alternative adjuvants, alternative routes of administration, co-administration with other vaccines, and other novel therapies. These alternative strategies can show improved response and lasting immunity. In summary, HbV vaccination is a major advance of modern medicine and all individuals at risk should be sought and vaccinated with subsequent adequate titers demonstrated.

Influence of Thickness on the Photosensing Properties of Chemically Synthesized Copper Sulfide Thin Films

We report here the influence of thickness on the photosensing properties of copper sulfide (CuS) thin films. The CuS films were deposited onto glass substrate by using a simple and cost effective chemical bath deposition method. The changes in film thickness as a function of time were monitored. The films were characterized using X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), optical measurement techniques and electrical measurement. X-ray diffraction results indicate that all the CuS thin films have an orthorhombic (covellite) structure with preferential orientation along (113) direction. The intensity of the diffraction peaks increases as thickness of the film increases. Uniform deposition having nanocrystalline granular morphology distributed over the entire glass substrate was observed through FE-SEM studies. The crystalline and surface properties of the CuS thin films improved with increase in the film thickness. Transmittance (except for 210 nm thick CuS film) together with band gap values was found to decrease with increase in thickness. I-V measurements under dark and illumination condition show that the CuS thin films give a good photoresponse.

In fast reactors, the inherent neutron source strength is often insufficient for monitoring the reactor start-up operation with ex-core detectors. To increase the subcritical neutron flux, an auxiliary neutron source subassembly(SSA) is generally used to overcome this problem. In this study, the estimated neutron source strength and detector count rate of an antimony-beryllium-based SSA are obtained using the deterministic transport code DORT and Monte Carlo calculations. because the antimony activation rate is a critical parameter, its sensitivity to the capture cross section and neutron flux spectrum is studied. The reaction cross section sensitivity is studied by considering data from different evaluated nuclear data *** is observed that, because of the variation in the cross sections from different evaluated nuclear data files, the values of the saturation gamma(> 1.67 MeV) activity and neutron strength predicted by ORIGEN2 lie within ±2%.The obtained antimony activation rate and sensitivity to the neutron flux are partially validated by irradiating samples of antimony in the KAMINI reactor. The average onegroup capture cross sections of bare and cadmium-covered 123Sb samples obtained by the ratio method are 4.0 and 1.78 b, respectively. The results of the calculation predicting the activated neutron source strength as a function of operating time and sensitivity to the neutron spectrum in the irradiation region are also presented.

To the editor： Endogenous bacterial endophthalmitis accounts for a small minority （2%-6%） of cases of endophthalmitis, but the visual outcome is almost always poor.＇ Group b streptococcus （GbS） accounts for only 5.2% among 267 endogenous endophthalmitis cases,1 and only about 30 cases have been reported in literature. We describe a rare case of bilateral GbS endogenous endophthalmitis and suggest that GbS should be a leading suspect in bilateral endogenous endophthalmitis.
