Research has identified factors (assets) that protect youth from engaging in risk behaviors including alcohol use. Very little research has examined asset/nonuse of alcohol associations by youth gender or determined if asset/nonuse of alcohol associations are influenced by the neighborhood environment. The purpose of the study was to determine if multiple youth assets and neighborhood factors are differentially associated with youth nonuse of alcohol by gender. Method: Five waves of data were collected annually from households (N = 1111) randomly selected to participate in the Youth Asset Study. Seventeen assets and 6 neighborhood factors assessed at waves 1 - 4 were analyzed longitudinally using marginal logistic regression to predict nonuse of alcohol at waves 2 - 5. Results: Sample mean age was 14.3 years, 52% female;39% white, 28% Hispanic, 23% African-American, and 9% other. Numerous assets were prospec- tively associated with alcohol nonuse for females (12 assets) and males (16 assets). Three assets were significantly more protective from alcohol use for males compared to females. Final modeling indicated that three assets were protective from alcohol use for both genders and that one asset was protective only for males. There were no significant associations between the neighborhood variables and nonuse of alcohol, and the neighborhood variables did not influence the asset/nonuse of alcohol associations. Conclusions: Youth assets appear to protect both genders from future alcohol use but males may benefit even more from asset-building prevention programming. Youth alcohol use and alcohol nonuse/asset associations may not be influenced by the neighborhood environment.

The effects of variable electrical conductivity and radiation absorption on high-speed MHD (Magnetohydrodynamics) free convective flow past an exponential accelerated inclined plate with higher order chemical reaction have been investigated. The electrical conductivity has been considered as a function of temperature. The chemical reaction has also been considered as the higher order. The usual transformations have been used to obtain the coupled dimensionless momentum, energy and concentration equations. Then the obtained non-dimensional partial differential equations have been solved numerically by explicit finite difference method. For excellent accuracy, stability and convergence test have been carried out. A computer program Compaq Visual FORTRAN 6.6a has been used to calculate the numerical results. The obtained numerical results concerned with the fluid velocity, temperature, concentration, concerned with skin friction, Nusselt number, Sherwood number, streamlines and isotherms are imprinted graphically by Tecplot and discussed in details. It is noticed that increasing of magnetic parameter increases the temperature and decreases the velocity, skin friction and Nusselt number. It is also observed that the temperature profile is increasing with the increasing values of Dufour number. However, the order of the chemical reaction increases the concentration profile.

In this paper, the effect of neuronal gain in discrete delayed neural network model is investigated. It is observed that such neural networks become highly chaotic due to the presence of high neuronal gain. On the basis of the largest Lyapunov exponent and largest eigenvalue of Jacobian matrix, chaos analysis has been done. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to justify our results.

Proximal tubule(PT)transports most of the renal Ca^(2+),which was usually described as paracellular(passive).We found a regulated Ca^(2+)entry pathway in PT cells via the apical transient receptor potential canonical 3(TRPC3)channel,which initiates transcellular Ca^(2+)*** TRPC3 knockout(−/−)mice were mildly hypercalciuric and displayed luminal calcium phosphate(CaP)crystals at Loop of Henle(LOH),no CaP+calcium oxalate(CaOx)mixed urine crystals were spotted,which are mostly found in calcium nephrolithiasis(CaNL).Thus,we used oral calcium gluconate(CaG;2%)to raise the PT luminal[Ca^(2+)]o further in TRPC3−/−mice for developing such mixed stones to understand the mechanistic role of PT-Ca^(2+)signaling in ***,CaG-treated mice urine samples presented with numerous mixed crystals with remains of PT cells,which were pronounced in TRPC3−/−mice,indicating PT cell ***,PT cells from CaG-treated groups switched their mode of Ca^(2+)entry from receptor-operated to store-operated pathway with a sustained rise in intracellular[Ca^(2+)]([Ca^(2+)]i),indicating the stagnation in PT Ca^(2+)***,those PT cells from CaG-treated groups demonstrated an upregulation of calcification,inflammation,fibrotic,oxidative stress,and apoptotic genes;effects of which were more robust in TRPC3 ablated ***,kidneys from CaG-treated groups exhibited fibrosis,tubular injury and calcifications with significant reactive oxygen species generation in the urine,thus,indicating in vivo *** together,excess PT luminal Ca^(2+)due to escalation of hypercalciuria in TRPC3 ablated mice induced surplus CaP crystal formation and caused stagnation of PT[Ca^(2+)]i,invoking PT cell injury,hence mixed stone formation.

The second dissociation constant, pK2, and related thermodynamic quantities for TAPSO have been previously determined and reported from the temperatures (278.15 to 328.15) K. In the current study there are five buffer solutions without NaCl and five buffer solutions with NaCl present which yield an ionic strength (I = 0.16 mol·kg-1) similar to that of blood plasma. These buffer solutions have been evaluated in the temperature range of (278.15 to 328.15) K using the extended Debye-Hückel equation, due to the limitations of the bates-Guggenheim convention such that it is only valid when I -1. The liquid junction potential (Ej) values between the TAPSO solution and the saturated KCl calomel electrode solution have been estimated at (298.15 and 310.15) K using a flowing junction cell measurement. The previously mentioned Ej values have been used in determining the operational pH values at (298.15 and 310.15) K. These TAPSO buffer solutions are recommended as reference solutions for pH measurements in saline media with an ionic strength of I = 0.16 mol·kg-1.

尿里有念珠菌仍然是真正的麻烦事。它是一种腐生物还是一种病原体?白色念珠菌是最著名的一种,而且又是最常与粘膜及皮肤病变有关的。曾经报道白色念珠菌,热带念珠菌,假热带念珠菌,口炎性腹泻念珠菌(C Parapsilosis)与吉利蒙氏念珠菌与泌尿生殖道感染有关。定义真菌是植物界异养性多细胞的一员。它们没有根、茎、叶的分化,因而属于菌藻植物。由于缺乏叶绿素而与藻类有别。它们比细菌大一些且具有较复杂的结构。呈有性生殖与无性生殖,有性生殖菌称完全真菌;例如面包与水的霉菌,对无性生殖的为不全性真菌。后者常是致病的,主要为白色念珠菌。
