This paper deals with an unsteady magnetohydrodynamics(MHD)heat and masstransfer for a viscous incompressible fluid through a vertical stretching surface embedded ina Darcy-Forchheimer porous medium in the presence of a non-uniform heat source/sink andfirst-order chemical reaction.The porous surface is subjected to a uniform transverse magneticfield.The influence of velocity,thermal,and concentration slip is also investigated.The governing equations are coupled non-linear partial differential equations,which have been converted via similarity transformation into a set of ordinary differential equations.The resultantsystem of non-linear ordinary differential equations has been solved numerically with the helpof the“MATLAb”bVP4C Solver.Results are presented graphically to analyze the effects ofvarious physical parameters discovered in the problem such as Hartmann number(M),Forchheimer number(Fr),Grashof number(Gr),solutal Grashof number(Gc),suction parameter(S),porosity parameter(el),dimensionless velocity slip(Sv),Prandtl number(Pr),dimensionless thermal slip(St),space-dependent heat source/sink parameter(eA1),temperature-dependent heat source/sink(eb)1),Eckert number(Ec),Schmidt number(Sc),chemical reaction parameter(g),unsteadiness parameter(A),and dimensionless concentration slip(Sc)on non-dimensionalvelocity ec0ðhÞ,temperature zðhÞ,and concentration efðhÞprofiles.The influence of these parameters on skin-friction coefficient(C)f),Nusselt number(Nu)x),and Sherwood number(Sh)x)areexpressed in tabular form.It is observed that an enhancement in Fr and el results in the declination of the velocity profile.There is an enhancement in temperature with an increment in theeA)1 and eb)1.The physical representation of flow characteristics that appeared in the problem ispresented using various graphs to depict real-world applications in industrial and engineeringoperations.The results were compared to previous studies,revealing that the two are in goodagreement.The novelty of the present investigation is:To interpre

The present study aims to perform computational simulations of twodimensional(2D)hemodynamics of unsteady blood flow via an inclined overlapping stenosed artery employing the Casson fluid model to discuss the hemorheological properties in the arterial region.A uniform magnetic field is applied to the blood flow in the radial direction as the magneto-hemodynamics effect is considered.The entropy generation is discussed using the second law of thermodynamics.The influence of different shape parameters is explored,which are assumed to have varied shapes(spherical,brick,cylindrical,platelet,and blade).The Crank-Nicolson scheme solves the equations and boundary conditions governing the flow.For a given critical height of the stenosis,the key hemodynamic variables such as velocity,wall shear stress(WSS),temperature,flow rate,and heat transfer coefficient are computed.

Microstructures of co-axially folded vein segments and crenulation cleavage： Evidence for dissolution phenomena in the Chamba Thrust Sheet, western Himalayas

The metasediments in the Chamba region experienced three phases of deformation: DF1, DF2 and DF3.Folded quartz veins are co-folded with the F2 crenulation folds. Their geometric and tectonic significance is studied by microstructures and shortening adjacent to the discrete crenulation cleavage, S2. Microstructures of folded vein segments, their geometric changes and truncation to cleavage (S2) are mainly due to pressure-solution phenomena and the estimated volume loss from reconstructed vein segments range from 16 to 25.5%,which is closely related to volume decrease (26%) calculated from the polydeformed slates of North Wales areas.

Tunica albuginea versus buccal mucosa graft urethroplasty for anterior urethral stricture: A prospective randomised pilot study

Objective:The objective of the study was to compare the outcome of tunica albuginea urethroplasty(TAU)and buccal mucosa graft(bMG)urethroplasty for anterior urethral stricture.Methods:Thirty patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomised into two groups:TAU(Group A)and bMG urethroplasty(Group b).Surgical outcome was evaluated with pre-and post-operative work-up involving retrograde urethrogram,voiding cystourethrogram,uroflowmetry,and urethroscopy.Patients were followed up till 1 year.Results:Mean duration of surgery was statistically significant between two groups(p=0.0005).Maximum urine flow rate was comparable when compared between two groups(p=0.22)but statistically significant when compared pre-and post-operatively(pb.A total of five patients who had unsuccessful results required redo urethroplasty.Complications were minimal in both the groups.Conclusion:TAU provides outcomes equivalent to those of bMG urethroplasty.TAU has less operative time,easy to perform,and beneficial in patients with poor oral hygiene.

Target-based anticancer indole derivatives and insight into structure-activity relationship:A mechanistic review update(2018—2021)

Cancer,which is the uncontrolled growth of cells,is the second leading cause of death after heart disease.Targeting drugs,especially to specific genes and proteins involved in growth and survival of cancer cells,is the prime need of research world-wide.Indole moiety,which is a combination of aromatic-heterocyclic compounds,is a constructive scaffold for the development of novel leads.Owing to its bioavailability,high unique chemical properties and significant pharmacological behaviours,indole is considered as the most inquisitive scaffold for anticancer drug research.This is illustrated by the fact that the U.S.Food and Drug Administration(FDA)has recently approved several indole-based anticancer agents such as panobinostat,alectinib,sunitinib,osimertinib,anlotinib and nintedanib for clinical use.Furthermore,hundreds of studies on the synthesis and activity of the indole ring have been published in the last three years.Taking into account the facts stated above,we have presented the most recent advances in medicinal chemistry of indole derivatives,encompassing hot articles published between 2018and 2021 in anticancer drug research.The recent advances made towards the synthesis of promising indole-based anticancer compounds that may act via various targets such as topoisomerase,tubulin,apoptosis,aromatase,kinases,etc.,have been discussed.This review also summarizes some of the recent efficient green chemical synthesis for indole rings using various catalysts for the period during 2018—2021.The review also covers the synthesis,structure-activity relationship,and mechanism by which these leads have demonstrated improved and promising anticancer activity.Indole molecules under clinical and preclinical stages are classified into groups based on their cancer targets and presented in tabular form,along with their mechanism of action.The goal of this review article is to point the way for medicinal chemists to design and develop effective indole-based anticancer agents.

Carotid artery injury in endoscopic endonasal surgery: Risk factors, prevention, and management

Objective:Endoscopic approaches for sinus and skull base surgery are increasing in popularity.The objective of this narrative review is to characterize risk factors for internal carotid artery injury in endoscopic endonasal surgery(EES),highlight preventative measures,and illustrate key management principles.Data Sources:Comprehensive literature review.Methods:Relevant literature was reviewed using PubMed/MEDLINE.Results:Carotid artery injury in EES is rare,with most studies reporting an incidence below 0.1%.Anatomic aberrancies,wide dissection margins,as well as specific provider and hospital factors,may increase the risk of injury.Multidisciplinary teams,comprehensive preoperative imaging,patient risk assessment,and formal training in vascular emergencies may reduce the risk.Management protocols should emphasize proper visualization of the injury site,fluid replacement,rapid packing,angiography,and endovascular techniques to achieve hemostasis.Conclusions:While EES is a relatively safe procedure,carotid artery injury is a devastating complication that warrants full consideration in surgical planning.Important preventative measures include identifying patients with notable risk factors and obtaining preoperative imaging.Multidisciplinary teams and management protocols are ultimately necessary to reduce morbidity and mortality.

Mathematical model of micropolar fluid in two-phase immiscible fluid flow through porous channel

This paper is concerned with the flow of two immiscible fluids through a porous horizontal channel. The fluid in the upper region is the micropolar fluid/the Eringen fluid, and the fluid in the lower region is the Newtonian viscous fluid. The flow is driven by a constant pressure gradient. The presence of micropolar fluids introduces additional rotational parameters. Also, the porous material considered in both regions has two different permeabilities. A direct method is used to obtain the analytical solu- tion of the concerned problem. In the present problem, the effects of the couple stress, the micropolarity parameter, the viscosity ratio, and the permeability on the velocity profile and the microrotational velocity are discussed. It is found that all the physical parameters play an important role in controlling the translational velocity profile and the microrotational velocity. In addition, numerical values of the different flow parameters are computed. The effects of the different flow parameters on the flow rate and the wall shear stress are also discussed graphically.

Fusion of spherical-octupole pairs of colliding nuclei for compact and elongated configurations

The deformation and associated optimum/uniquely fixed orientations play an important role in the syn-thesis of compound nuclei via cold and hot fusion reactions,respectively,at the lowest and highest barrier energies.The choice of optimum orientation(0_(op))for the'cold or elongated'and hot or cormpact'fusion configurations of quadrupole(β_(2))deformed nuclei depends only on the+/-signs ofβ_(2)-deformation[J.Phys.G:Nucl.Part.Phys.31,631-644(2005)].In our recent study[Phys.Rev.C 101,051601(R)2020],we proposed a new sct of Oopt(iferent from the values reported for quadrupole deformed nuclei)after the inclusion of octupole deformation(up to b3)ef-fects.Using the respective 0op1 of b3-deformed nuclei for cold and hot optimum orientations,we analyzed the im-pact of the soft-and rigid-pear shapes of octupole deformed nuclei on the fusion barrier characterstics(barrier height Vg and barrier position Rb).This analysis is applied to approximately 200 spherical-plus b3 deformed nucle-ar partners,that is,^(16)O,^(18)Cat octupole deformed nuclei.Compared with the compact configuration,the elongated fu-sion configuration has a relatively larger impact on the fusion barrier and cross sections ow ing to the inclusion of de-formations up to b3.Its agreement with available experimental data for the^(16)O+^(150)Sm reaction(β_(22)-0.205,β_(32)=0.055)also improves when the optimum orientation degree of freedom is fixed in view of octupole deformations.This reinforces the fact that nuclear structure effects play an important role in the nuclear fusion process.Thus,octu-pole deformed nuclei can be used for the synthesis of heavy and superheavy nuclei.

The study investigated the long-term effect of feeding processed solvent extracted karanj(Pongamia glabra) cake(SkC) on gross pathology and histopathological changes in some vital organs, and on the activities of serum enzymes in Jalauni lambs. Twenty-four male lambs were divided into 4 groups and allotted randomly to a soybean meal(SbM) based control(CON) and 3 treatment groups receiving concentrate mixtures, containing water washed(WW), 2.5% lime(LM) and 0.4% binder(bN) treated SkC replacing 50% nitrogen of SbM to meet the protein requirements. blood was collected after 150 days from all the lambs and serum activities of aspartate aminotransferase(AST), alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) were assayed. All lambs were sacrificed after 196 days, and vital organs screened for gross pathological lesions. The representative tissues of liver, intestine, parathyroid gland,testis, and epididymis were sampled, preserved in 10% formalin and processed to examine histopathological changes by staining with haematoxylin and eosin(HE). The serum enzyme activities of AST and ALT were similar in the treatments, but the activity of LDH was higher(P kC-fed groups than the control. The weight and size of the liver were decreased in bN group, while those of testes were decreased in both LM and bN groups. The histological sections of the testes and epididymis of lambs from LM group showed hypoplastic seminiferous tubules and empty ductules, respectively. The histological sections of the parathyroid gland in the same diet revealed smaller and non-secretory chief cells. The small intestine of lambs from bN group showed infiltration of mononuclear cells(MNC) in lamina propria with mild fibroplasia in intervillous areas. The histological section of liver from this group showed MNC infiltration in portal areas. The inclusion of water washed SkC in the concentrate mixture of lambs did not show gross pathological and histological alterations in the tissues in the vital organs;however, the activ

Mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of pristine and functionalized carbon nanotube reinforced metallic glass composites:A molecular dynamics approach

This work uses the molecular dynamics approach to study the effects of functionalization of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)on the mechanical properties of Cu64Zr36 metallic glass(MG).Three types of functional groups,carboxylic,vinyl and ester were used.The effect of CNT volume fraction(Vf)and the number of functional groups attached to CNT,on the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of CNT-MG composites was analysed using biovia Materials Studio.At lower values of Vf(from 0 to 5%),the percentage increase in Young’s modulus was approximately 66%.As the value of Vf was increased further(from 5 to 12%),the rate of increase in Young’s modulus was reduced to 16%.The thermal conductivity was found to increase from 1.52 W/mk at Vf?0%to 5.88 W/mk at Vf?12%,thus giving an increase of approximately 286%.Functionalization of SWCNT reduced the thermal conductivity of the SWCNT-MG composites.
