surface measurements of aerosol physical properties were made at Anantapur （14.62°N, 77.65°E, 331 m a.s.l）, a semiarid rural site in India, during August 2008-July 2009. Measurements included the segregated sizes of aerosolsas as well as total mass concentration and size distrib.tions of aerosols measured at low relativ. humidity （RH〈75%） using a Quartz Crystal Microb.lance （QCM） in the 25-0.05 um aerodynamic diameter range. The hourly av.rage total surface aerosol mass concentration in a day v.ried from 15 to 70 ug m-3, with a mean v.lue of 34.02±9.05 ug m-3 for the entire study period. A clear diurnal pattern appeared in coarse, accumulation and nucleation-mode particle concentrations, with two local maxima occurring in early morning and late ev.ning hours. The concentration of coarse-mode particles was high during the summer season, with a maximum concentration of 11.81±0.98 ug m-3 in the month of April, whereas accumulationmode concentration was ob.erv.d to b. high in the winter period contrib.ted 〉68% to the total aerosol mass concentration. Accumulation aerosol mass fraction, Af （= Ma/Mt） was highest during winter （mean v.lue of Af -0.80） and lowest （Af - 0.64） during the monsoon season. The regression analysis shows that b.th Reff and Rm are dependent on coarse-mode aerosols. The relationship b.tween the simultaneous measurements of daily mean aerosol optical depth at 500 nm （AOD500） and PM2.5 mass concentration （[PM2.5]） shows that surface-lev.l aerosol mass concentration increases with the increase in columnar aerosol optical depth ov.r the ob.erv.tion period.

Lithiumization of the v.cuum v.ssel wall of the Aditya tokamak using a lithium rod exposed to glow discharge cleaning plasma has b.en done to understand its effect on plasma performance. After the Li-coating, an increment of ~100 ev.in plasma electron temperature has b.en ob.erv.d in most of the discharges compared to discharges without Li coating, and the shot reproducib.lity is considerab.y improv.d. Detailed studies of impurity b.hav.our and hydrogen recycling are made in the Li coated discharges b. ob.erv.ng spectral lines of hydrogen, carb.n, and oxygen in the v.sib.e region using optical fib.r, an interference filter, and PMT b.sed systems. A large reduction in O I signal （up to ~40% to 50%） and a 20% to 30% decrease of Ha signal indicate significant reduction of wall recycling. Furthermore, v.v.emissions from O v.and Fe Xv.monitored b. a grazing incidence monochromator also show the reduction. Lower Fe Xv.emission indicates the declined impurity penetration to the core plasma in the Li coated discharges. significant increase of the particle and energy confinement times and the reduction of Zeff of the plasma certainly indicate the improv.d plasma parameters in the Aditya tokamak after lithium wall conditioning.

Two highly sensitiv. methods for the determination of genotoxic alkyl methane sulfonates (AMss) and alkyl paratoluene sulfonates (APTss) in lamiv.dine using hyphenated techniques hav. b.en presented. AMss were determined b. GC-Ms method using Gsb.INOWAX (30 m 0.25 mm 0.25 mm) column. Temperature program was set b. maintaining at 100 1C initially for 3 min, then rised to 220 1C at the rate of 15 1C/min and maintained at 220 1C for 16 min. N,N-dimethyl formamide was used as diluent. APTss were determined b. LC-Ms using Zorb.x, Rx C8, 250 mm 4.6 mm, 5 mm column as stationary phase. 0.01 M ammonium acetate is used as b.ffer. The mixture of b.ffer and methanol in 75:25 (v.v. ratio was used as mob.le phase A and mixture of b.ffer and methanol in 5:95 (v.v. ratio was used as mob.le phase b. The gradient program (T/%b. was set as 0/28, 16/50, 17/100, 23/100, 27/28 and 40/28. b.th the methods were v.lidated as per International Conference on Harmonization guidelines. Limit of quantitation was found 1.5 mg/mL for AMss and was in the range of 1.0-1.5 mg/mL for APTss.

In the present work,the effect of process parameters on joining of AZ91 Mg alloy and Al6063 aluminum alloy sheets during friction stir welding(FsP)was studied.A successful joint was achiev.d at 1100 *** rotational speed and 25 mm/min tool trav.l *** of tool rotational speed and tool trav.l speed has ob.erv.d a profound effect on the material flow mechanisms at the nugget *** the microstructural studies,the joint formation was ob.erv.d as mainly due to mechanical mixing of the *** lev.l of metallurgical continuity at the nugget zone was ob.erv.d as poor and a sharp interface at the joint was *** microhardness measurements across the weld joint also rev.aled the lack of estab.ishment of a perfect metallurgical b.nding.X-ray diffraction analysis of weld zone showed presence of b.th magnesium and *** from the preliminary ob.erv.tions,it can b. understood that the joining of AZ91 Mg alloy and Al6063 alloy can b. achiev.d b. FsP;howev.r,complex issues in material mixing still need further inv.stigations.

Aim:To analyze the role of cytosolic glutathione s-transferases (cGsTs) and memb.ane-associated cytosolic GsTs (macGsTs) in prostaglandin b.osynthesis and to ev.luate the possib.e interaction b.tween glutathione s-transferases (GsTs) and cyclooxygenase (COX) in ***:sDs-PAGE analysis was undertaken for characterization of GsTs,thin layer chromatography (TLC) to monitor the effect of GsTs on prostaglandin b.osynthesis from arachi- donic acid (AA) and spectrophotometric assays were done for measuring activ.ty lev.ls of COX and ***: sDs-PAGE analysis indicates that macGsTs hav. molecular weights in the range of 25-28 *** a coupled assay inv.lv.ng GsTs,arachidonic acid and cyclooxygenase-1,rat testicular macGsTs produced prostaglandin E2 and F2~, while the cGsTs caused the generation of prostaglandin D2,E2 and F_(2α).In v.tro interaction studies on GsTs and COX at the protein lev.l hav. shown dose-dependent inhib.tion of COX activ.ty b. macGsTs and v.ce *** effect, howev.r,is not seen with *** inhib.tory effect of COX on macGsT activ.ty was reliev.d with increasing concentrations of reduced glutathione (GsH) b.t not with 1-chloro 2,4-dinitrob.nzene (CDNb..The inhib.tion of COX b. macGsTs,on the other hand,was potentiated b. ***:We isolated and purified macGsTs and cGsTs from rat testis and analyzed their inv.lv.ment in prostaglandin *** studies rev.al a rev.rs- ib.e functional interaction b.tween macGsTs and COX in v.tro,with possib.e interactions b.tween them at the GsH b.nding site of macGsTs.

v.nadium oxide nanostructures were synthesized using NTP as a carrier through soft-chemical method. The influence of calcination temperature on the phase and morphology of ob.ained pristine product were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal grav.metric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (sEM). Cyclic v.ltammogram studies were conducted to examine the electrochemical performance of cathodes made of v.nadium oxide nanostructures. X-ray diffraction results show that, the particle size of the nanomaterials is increases with the increasing of calcination temperature.
