Effects of clump spacing on nutrient distrib.tion and root activity of Dendrocalamus strictus in th. h.mid region of Kerala,peninsular India

Th. h.mid agroclimatic conditions of Kerala,India permit th. cultivation of an array of b.mb.o species of wh.ch.Dendrocalamus strictus Roxb.(Nees.) is an important one on account of its h.gh.growth.rate and multiple uses. Stand density, a potential tool in controlling th. productivity of woody ecosystems, its effect on growth.and root distrib.tion patterns may provide a b.tter understanding of productivity optimization especially wh.n b.mb.o-b.sed intercropping options are *** attrib.tes of 7-year-old b.mb.o(D. strictus) stands managed at variab.e spacing(4×4 m, 6×6 m, 8×8 m,10×10 m, 12×12 m) were studied. Functional root activity among b.mb.o clumps were also studied using a radio tracer soil injection meth.d in wh.ch.th. radio isotopeP was applied to soil at varying depth. and lateral distances from th. clump. Results indicate th.t spacing exerts a profound influence on growth.of b.mb.o. Widely spaced b.mb.o exh.b.ted h.gh.r clump diameters and crown width. wh.le clump h.igh.s were b.tter under closer spacing. Clump h.igh. was 30% lower and Db. 52%h.gh.r at th. widest spacing(12×12 m) compared to th. closest spacing(4×4 m). With.increasing soil depth.and lateral distance, root activity decreased significantly. Root activity near th. clump b.se was h.gh.st(809 counts per minute, cpm; 50 cm depth.and 50 cm lateral distance) at 4×4 m. Tracer study furth.r sh.wed wider distrib.tion of root activity with.increase in clump spacing. It may b. concluded th.t th. intensive foraging zone of b.mb.o is with.n a 50-cm radius around th. clump irrespective of spacing. N, P and K content in th. upper 20 cm was 2197,21, and 203 kg/h. respectively for th. closely spaced b.mb.o(4×4 m) wh.ch.were significantly h.gh.r th.n corresponding nutrient content at wider spacings. Ab.ut 50% of N, P and K were present with.n th. 0–20 cm soil layer, wh.ch.decreased drastically b.yond th. 20 cm *** results suggest th.t stand management practices th.ough.planting density regula

For more th.n a century, forecasting models h.ve b.en crucial in a variety of fields. Models can offer th. most accurate forecasting outcomes if error terms are normally distrib.ted. Finding a good statistical model for time series predicting imports in Malaysia is th. main target of th.s study. Th. decision made during th.s study mostly addresses th. unrestricted error correction model (UECM), and composite model (Comb.ned regression—ARIMA). Th. imports of Malaysia from th. first quarter of 1991 to th. th.rd quarter of 2022 are employed in th.s study’s quarterly time series data. Th. forecasting outcomes of th. current study demonstrated th.t th. composite model offered more prob.b.listic data, wh.ch.improved forecasting th. volume of Malaysia’s imports. Th. composite model, and th. UECM model in th.s study are linear models b.sed on responses to Malaysia’s imports. Future studies migh. compare th. performance of linear and nonlinear models in forecasting.

Monitoring temporal ch.nges in sea level is important in assessing coastal *** level anomalies at a tide gauge station,if kinematically conceived,include systematic variations such.as trend,acceleration,periodic oscillations,and random *** th.m,th. non-stationary nature of th. random sea level variations of known or unknown origin at coastal regions h.s b.en long recognized b. th. sea level *** study proposes th. analyses of sub.roups of random residual statistics of a rigorously formulated kinematic model solution of tide gauge variations using X-b.r and S control *** approach.is demonstrated using Key West,Florida tide gauge *** mean and standard errors of 5-year-long sub.roups of th. residuals revealed th.t sea level ch.nges at th.s location h.ve b.en progressively intensifying from 1913 to th. *** oscillations in sea level at th.s locality may b. attrib.ted partly to th. th.rmal expansion of seawater with.increasing temperatures causing larger b.oyancy-related sea level fluctuations as well as th. intensification of atmosph.ric events including wind patterns and th. impact of ch.nges in inverted b.rometer effects th.t will alter coastal risk assessments for th. future.
