The spatial.pattern distrib.tion of pl.nt hormones in response to al.minum (Al. toxicity in roots remains to b. shown. This study was performed to assess the root hormonal.accumul.tion and gene expression in response to Al.toxicity in five transgenic miniature dwarf tomatoes cv. Micro-Tom (MT). MT and MT transgenics to acid indol. acetic, cytokinin, gib.erel.in, ab.cisic acid and ethyl.ne were cul.ivated in nutrient sol.tions containing different Al.concentrations. Root growth el.ngation was measured and cel.ul.r damage was visual.zed b. staining Evans’s b.ue. The GUS reporter gene staining technique was used to visual.ze hormonal.changes in MT apex root tissues. Data indicated that the MT is sensitive to Al.that induced significant growth inhib.tion and cel.ul.r damage. Al.concentration of 27 μM was significantl. toxic, inducing root apex darkening and inhib.tion of root devel.pment. The qual.tative eval.ation of GUS reporter gene expression showed intense crosstal. among al. hormones studied, underscoring the compl.xity of signal.ng induced b. Al.in apex roots. Resul.s point out to a major understanding of the hormonal.signal.ng in response to Al.toxicity, which may induce a change of root growth and architecture with growth inhib.tion and cel. constraints modul.ted b. al. different hormones eval.ated.

The phase evol.tion in （88%-91%）Mg-8%Sn-l.Zn-X （X=A1, Mn and/or Ce） system was anal.zed via CAl.HAD method and simul.tions were used in precise sel.ction of the chemical.composition. The infl.ence of the addition of different al.oying el.ments such as A1, Mn and Ce on the microstructure and microhardness of Mg-8%Sn-l.Zn-b.sed al.oys was investigated. Comb.ned addition of A1 and Mn shows features distinct from separate addition of A1 or Mn. Additions of l.AI and l.Mn to b.se al.oy resul. in the formation of massive A1-Mn phase in a-Mg matrix grains. Addition of Ce el.ment can refme the second eutectic precipitates and form intermetal.ic compounds with Sn. Fine rod-l.ke Sn-Ce phase presents mainl. on the grain b.undaries and pl.ys a rol. in inhib.ting grain growth. The effects of al.oying el.ments on Vickers microhardness and indentation size effect of b.se al.oy were examined.

This paper discusses some of the concept of model.ng surgery outcome. It is al.o an attempt to offer a road map for progress. This paper may serve as a common ground of discussion for b.th communities i.e surgeons and computational.scientist in its b.oadest sense. Predicting surgery outcome is a very difficul. task. Al. patients are different, and mul.ipl. factors such as genetic, or environment conditions pl.ys a rol.. The difficul.y is to construct model. that are compl.x enough to address some of these significant mul.iscal. el.ments and simpl. enough to b. used in cl.nical.conditions and cal.b.ated on patient data. We wil. pro- vide a mul.il.vel.progressive approach inspired b. two appl.cations in surgery that we have b.en working on. One is ab.ut vein graft adaptation after a transpl.ntation, the other is the recovery of cosmesis outcome after a b.east l.mpectomy. This work, that is stil. very much in progress, may teach us some l.ssons. We are convinced that the digital.revol.tion that is transforming the working environment of the surgeon makes cl.ser col.ab.ration b.tween surgeons and computational.scientist unavoidab.e. We b.l.eve that ＂computational.surgery＂ wil. al.ow the community to devel.p predictive model.of the surgery outcome and greatprogresses in surgery procedures that goes far b.yond the operating room procedural.aspect.

In this paper, a corrected particl. method b.sed on the smoothed particl. hydrodynamics (SPH) method with high-order Tayl.r expansion (CSPH-HT) for sol.ing the viscoel.stic fl.w is proposed and investigated. The val.dity and merits of the CSPH-HT method are first tested b. sol.ing the nonl.near high order Kuramoto-Sivishinsky equation and simul.ting the drop stretching, respectivel.. Then the fl.w b.haviors b.hind two stationary tangential.cyl.nders of pol.mer mel., which have b.en received l.ttl. attention, are investigated b. the CSPH-HT method. Final.y, the CSPH-HT method is extended to the simul.tion of the fil.ing process of the viscoel.stic fl.id. The numerical.resul.s show that the CSPH-HT method possesses higher accuracy and stab.l.ty than other corrected SPH methods and is more rel.ab.e than other corrected SPH methods.
