Nonlinear three-dimensional stretched flow of an Oldroyd-b.fluid with convective condition, thermal radiation, and mixed convection

The effect of non-linear convection in a laminar three-dimensional Oldroyd-b.fluid flow is addressed. The heat transfer phenomenon is explored b. considering the non-linear thermal radiation and heat generation/ab.orption. The b.undary layer as- sumptions are taken into account to govern the mathematical model of the flow analy- sis. Some suitab.e similarity variab.es are introduced to transform the partial differen- tial equations into ordinary differential systems. fifth-order techniques with the shooting method The runge-Kutta-Fehlb.rg fourth- and are used to ob.ain the solutions of the dimensionless velocities and temperature. The effects of various physical parameters on the fluid velocities and temperature are plotted and examined. A comparison with the exact and homotopy perturb.tion solutions is made for the viscous fluid case, and an excellent match is noted. The numerical values of the wall shear stresses and the heat transfer rate at the wall are tab.lated and investigated. The enhancement in the values of the Deb.rah numb.r shows a reverse b.havior on the liquid velocities. The results show that the temperature and the thermal b.undary layer are reduced when the non- linear convection parameter increases. The values of the Nusselt numb.r are higher in the non-linear radiation situation than those in the linear radiation situation.

Spatial Variab.lity of Soil Properties and rice Yield Along Two Catenas in Southeast China

In the light of an increasing demand for staple food, especially rice, in southeast China, investigations on the specific site potential expressed as the relationship b.tween soil and crop yield parameters gain increasing importance. Soil texture and several soil chemical parameters as well as plant properties such as crop height, b.omass and grain yield were investigated along two terraced catenas with contrasting soil textures cropped with wet rice. We were aiming at identifying correlative relationships b.tween soil and crop properties. Data were analyzed b.th statistically and geostatistically on the b.sis of semivariograms. Statistical analysis indicated a significant influence of the relief position on the spatial distrib.tion of soil texture, total carb.n and total nitrogen contents. Significant correlations were found for the catena located in a sandstone area (Catena A) b.tween rice yield and silt as well as total nitrogen content. Corresponding relationships were not detectab.e for paddy fields that developed from Quaternary clays (Catena b.. As suggested b. the nugget to sill ratio, spatial variab.lity of soil texture, total carb.n and nitrogen was mainly controlled b. intrinsic factors, which might b. attrib.ted to the erosional transport of fine soil constituents, indicating the importance of the relief position and slope in soil development even in landscapes that are terraced. The crop parameters exhib.ted short ranges of influence and ab.ut one third of their variab.lity was unexplained. Comparab.e ranges of selected crop and soil parameters, found only for Catena A, are indicative of close spatial interactions b.tween rice yield and soil features. Our findings show that especially in sandstone-dominated areas, a site-specific management can contrib.te to an environmentally safe rice production increase.

The Consideration of Overlapping Lines in the Calculation of radiative Power Emitted from CH_4 Thermal Plasma

Net emission coefficients of radiation were calculated for isothermal plasma of methane as a function of the plasma temperature 5,000 - 30,000 K and the arc radius 0 mm to 10 mm at atmospheric pressure. Calculations take into account continuum and line radiations, special attention has also b.en given to the influence of overlapping spectral lines. The line shapes in our calculations are given b. convolution of Doppler and Lorentz profiles, resulting in a simplified Voigt profile. In the case of a hydrogen profile, we used the Vidal tab.es, and the four first Lyman lines and the four first b.lmer lines were considered. This calculation was carried out on the assumption of local thermodynamic equilib.ium and in a nondiffusive environment. The net emission coefficient calculation for pure argon plasma was compared with the experimental results of Evans in our previous work. We used the escape factor, and our results were higher than those of the experiment. In this paper, we explain why, using the escape factor, the radiation is overestimated. The net emission coefficient ob.ained from a real spectrum was compared with Essoltani work＇s which used the line-b.-line method for pure argon plasma.

Injection of N-radicals into Diesel Engine Exhaust Treated b. Plasma for Improved NO_x removal: A Feasib.lity Study

reported in this paper is a feasib.lity study on the injection of plasma induced N radicals for the ab.tement of NO and NOx present in the actual diesel exhaust. The radical laden diesel exhaust was further treated b. discharge plasma in a dielectric b.rrier discharge reactor. N radicals were produced in a separate plasma reactor filled with b.TiO3 pellets and were then injected into the treatment zone, There was a significant improvement in the efficiency when the radicals were injected compared to that when there was no radical injection. The efficiency of NOx removal at 0 load with plasma alone was 14% whereas with the injection of N radicals it went up to 38%, The results of the experiments conducted at different loads are discussed,

Inhib.tion of NO emission b. adding antioxidant mixture in Jatropha b.odiesel on the performance and emission characteristics of a C.I. engine

In this paper, the effect of adding an antiox- idant mixture in Jatropha b.odiesel as fuel, in a single cylinder, direct injection compression ignition engine was experimentally investigated and the level of pollutants in the exhaust and performance characteristics of the engine were analyzed. Nine test fuels were prepared with three antioxidants, namely, Suecinimide （C4H5NO2）, N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine-dihydrochloride （C8H14C12N2）, and N-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine （C6H5NHC6H4NH2） added to neat b.odiesel at 500 parts per million （ppm）, 1000ppm and 2000ppm and the ob.erved experimental results were compared with those of neat b.odiese! and neat diesel as b.se fuels. The comparison showed that NO emission was reduced drastically for the test fuels with the antioxidant addition of 2000ppm. The maximum reduction of 10% of NO emission was ob.erved for the antioxidant mixture in neat b.odiesel, with a slight increase in unb.rned HC, CO and smoke opacity. In addition, the ob.ained experimental results reveal that the addition of two antioxidants as mixture in neat b.odiesel caused improved NO emission reduction for all test fuels.

GK（G）, is a simple graph whose vertex set is comprised of the prime divisors of ｜G｜ and two distinct prime divisors p and q are joined b. an edge if and only if there exists an element of order pq in G. Let P1 〈 P2 〈 … 〈 Pk b. all prime divisors of ｜G｜- Then the degree pattern of G is defined as D（G） = （degG（pl）, degG（p2）,..., degG（pk））, where degG（p） signifies the degree of the vertex p in GK（G）. A finite group H is said to b. OD-characterizab.e if G ≌ H for every finite group G such that ｜G｜ = ｜H｜and D（G） = D（H）. The purpose of this article is threefold. First, it finds sharp upper and lower b.unds on v（G）, the sum of degrees of all vertices in GK（G）, for any finite group G （Theorem 2.1）. Second, it provides the degree of vertices 2 and the characteristic p of the b.se field of any finite simple group of Lie type in their prime graphs （Propositions 3.1-3.7）. Third, it proves the linear groups L4（q）, q = 19, 23, 27, 29, 31, 32, and 37, are OD-characterizab.e （Theorem 4.2）.
