The typical problem in the mechanics of deformable solids comprises a mathematical model in the form of systems of partial differential equations or inequalities. Subsequent investigations are then concerned with analysis of the model to determine its well-posedness, followed by the development and implementation of algorithms to obtain approximate solutions to problems that are generally intractable in closed form. These processes of modelling, analysis, and computation are discussed with a focus on the behaviour of elastic-plastic bodies;these are materials which exhibit path-dependence and irreversibility in their behaviour. The resulting variational problem is an inequality that is not of standard elliptic or parabolic type. Properties of this formulation are reviewed, as are the conditions under which fully discrete approximations converge. A solution algorithm, motivated by the predictor-corrector algorithms that are common in elastoplastic problems, is presented and its convergence properties summarized. An important extension of the conventional theory is that of straingradient plasticity, in which gradients of the plastic strain appear in the formulation, and which includes a length scale not present in the conventional theory. Some recent results for strain-gradient plasticity are presented, and the work concludes with a brief description of current investigations.

Transition metal selenides have attracted great interest in electrochemical energy storage applications because of their good electrochemical activity and conductivity ***,we reported the metal molybdenum selenide(M Se/Mo_(3)Se_(4)(M:Zn,Mn,and Ni))electrode materials on their morphological and electrochemical properties by varying the metal ions via a facile hydrothermal *** effects of the structural,morphological,and surface area properties of the prepared powder materials on their electrochemical performance were *** to the hierarchical porous and unique interconnected structure,the nickel molybdenum selenide nanosheet spheres(NMS NSSs)-based electrode material delivered an excellent specific capacity value of 252 mAh g^(-1) at a current density of 1 Ag^(-1).Moreover,the optimized NMS NSSs electrode exhibited outstanding cycling stability with a capacity retention of 80%and a corresponding coulombic efficiency of 99%after 80,000 ***,a pouch-type hybrid supercapacitor(HSC)device was assembled using NMS NSSs material as a positive electrode and activated carbon as a negative electrode in 1 M aqueous KOH ***,the assembled HSC device exhibited superior energy and power density values as well as magnificent cycling *** real-time practical applications,light-emitting diodes and a digital display were powered using two series-connected HSC ***,the obtained tremendous results strongly suggest that the NiSe/Mo_(3)Se_(4) NSSs-based materials could be a promising electrode for ultralong-life energy storage applications.

Simulations of fixed beds having column to particle diameter ratio （D/dp） of 3, 5 and 10 were performed in the creeping, transition and turbulent flow regimes, where Reynolds number （dpVLρL/μL） was varied from 0.1 to 10,000. The deviations from Ergun＇s equation due to the wall effects, which are important in D/dp 〈 15 beds were well explained by the CFD simulations. Thus, an increase in the pressure drop was observed due to the wall friction in the creeping flow, whereas, in turbulent regime a decrease in the pressure drop was observed due to the channeling near the wall. It was observed that, with an increase in the D/dp ratio, the effect of wall on drag coefficient decreases and drag coefficient nearly approaches to Ergun＇s equation. The predicted drag coefficient values were in agreement with the experimental results reported in the literature, in creeping flow regime, whereas in turbulent flow the difference was within 10-15%.

Strategic maintenance plays a key role in ensuring high availability and utilization of the haul trucks,and as equipment began to grow more complex towards the end of the 20th century,there was a need for a proactive maintenance strategy,which led to the development of condition-based *** condition monitoring(RTCM)is the ability to perform condition monitoring in real-time and has the ability to alert maintenance and operations of abnormal *** alarms can be used as an indication leading to a problem,and if a suitable corrective action is initiated in time,it could result in significant savings of equipment downtime and repair *** study aims to compare some maintenance performance indicators prior to and after implementation of RTCM strategy at a mine site using some tests of statistical *** study also indicated the presence of seasonality in the data,and thus the data was deseasonalized and detrended prior to being subjected to the statistical ***,the results indicated that RTCM strategy has proven to be successful in improving the availability for some of the failure categories chosen in this study.

This study explores the effects of electro-magneto-hydrodynamics,Hall currents,and convective and slip boundary conditions on the peristaltic propulsion of nanofluids(considered as couple stress nanofluids)through porous symmetric *** phenomena of energy and mass transfer are considered under thermal radiation and heat source/*** governing equations are modeled and non-dimensionalized under appropriate dimensionless *** resulting system is solved numerically with MATHEMATICA(with an in-built function,namely the Runge-Kutta scheme).Graphical results are presented for various fluid flow quantities,such as the velocity,the nanoparticle temperature,the nanoparticle concentration,the skin friction,the nanoparticle heat transfer coefficient,the nanoparticle concentration coefficient,and the trapping *** results indicate that the nanoparticle heat transfer coefficient is enhanced for the larger values of thermophoresis ***,an intriguing phenomenon is observed in trapping:the trapped bolus is expanded with an increase in the Hartmann ***,the bolus size decreases with the increasing values of both the Darcy number and the electroosmotic parameter.

Study of Temperature Distribution Along an Artificially Polluted Insulator String

Insulator becomes wet partially or completely, and the pollution layer on itbecomes conductive, when collecting pollutants for an extended period during dew, light rain, mist,fog or snow melting. Heavy rain is a complicated factor that it may wash away the pollution layerwithout initiating other stages of breakdown or it may bridge the gaps between sheds to promoteflashover. The insulator with a conducting pollution layer being energized, can cause a surfaceleakage current to flow (also temperature-rise). As the surface conductivity is non-uniform, theconducting pollution layer becomes broken by dry bands (at spots of high current density),interrupting the flow of leakage current. Voltage across insulator gets concentrated across drybands, and causes high electric stress and breakdown (dry band arcing). If the resistance of theinsulator surface is sufficiently low, the dry band arcs can be propagated to bridge the terminalscausing flashover. The present paper concerns the evaluation of the temperature distribution alongthe surface of an energized artificially polluted insulator string.

We investigated the aerobic oxidation of ethylbenzene in the absence of solvent or any additive carried out over Ni on different types of supports namely SiO2, hydroxyapatite, SbA-15, and USY Zeolites. The oxidation of ethylbenzene activities was measured in a round bottom flask immersed in oil bath at known reaction temperature. The physicochemical characteristics of the catalysts were examined by bET surface area, XRD, FT-IR and the oxidation activities were correlated with the acidities of the catalysts obtained by TPD of NH3. It was observed that both hydroxyapatite and USY （13% Na2O） supported Ni catalysts displayed higher ethylbenzene conversion and 80% selectivity towards acetophenone.

A rapid and eco-friendly one-pot protocol for the synthesis of nitriles has been developed by treating various araldehydes bearing electron withdrawing as well as electron donating groups with hydroxylamine hydrochloride in the presence of non-toxic,non-corrosive and reusable zinc oxide（ZnO） as the catalyst under solvent-free microwave *** present approach offers the advantages of a clean reaction,simple methodology,employing readily available catalyst,short reaction duration（〈1 min）,high selectivity;and high yield（90-98%）.

In the present paper, the high velocity impact of 9 mm soft lead projectile on 10 mm and 30 mm thick Eglass/epoxy composites was studied using a 450 kV Flash X-ray radiography(FXR) system. The basic parameters of FXR imaging, such as effect of ratio of target to film(TF) and source to target(ST) distances and X-ray penetration thickness of the composite material were optimized based on clarity and the actual dimensions of the objects. The optimized parameters were used in the FXR imaging of the ballistic event of 9 mm soft projectile on E-glass/epoxy composite. The real time deformation patterns of both the projectile and composite target during the ballistic impact were captured and studied at different time intervals. The notable failure modes of the 10 mm thick target with time include fibre breakage, bulging on the back side, delamination, recovery of the bulging, reverse bulging and its recovery. However, with increase in thickness of the target to 30 mm the only failure mechanism observed is the breaking of fibres. The ballistic impact event was also numerically simulated using commercially available LS-DYNA software. The numerically simulated deformation patterns of the projectile and target at different time intervals are closely matching with the corresponding radiographic images.
