Morphometric and Volumetric Evaluation of Maxillary Sinus as an Aid in Sex Identification in Forensic Odontology-A Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Study

Background:Various methods are used in forensic odontology for the purpose of sex and personal *** of them include cheiloscopy,rugoscopy,mandibular measurements,and study of paranasal *** our study,we have used maxillary sinus as an aid in sex *** this purpose,we have evaluated the morphometric and volumetric measurements of the maxillary sinus using a 3-Dimensional imaging modality,Cone Beam Computed *** and Objectives:Sex and age identification are important in the process of identification of both the living and the ***,this transverse retrospective study was done to appraise the precision of the dimensions and volume of the maxillary sinus to aid in sex and age *** and Methods:Eighty full Field of View(FOV)Cone-Beam Computed Tomography(CBCT)images were retrieved from the archives which were matched with age and *** maxillary sinuses on either side were measured mediolaterally in the axial section and supero-inferiorly in the coronal *** volumetric analysis of the sinus was done in the sagittal *** sex was classified using discriminant function analysis and the differences were compared using independent *** differences with age were analyzed using one-way ***:Independent t-test was done for comparison of the sinuses between both *** sinuses measurements were larger among the males both superior-inferiorly on either side(P<0.001)and mediolaterally on the right(P<0.049)showed statistically significant values.A significant correlation existed while comparing the maxillary sinus volume among both the sexes on either side(P<0.001 and<0.002 in the case of right and left respectively).On comparing the supero-inferior and mediolateral measurements and the maxillary sinus volume on either side among the various age groups,the values were statistically *** study shows that the maxillary sinus measurements using Cone-beam computed

The smart grid has enabled users to control their home energy more effectively and efficiently.A home energy management system(HEM)is a challenging task because this requires the most effective scheduling of intelligent home appliances to save ***,we presented a meta-heuristic-based HEM system that integrates the Greywolf Algorithm(GWA)and Harmony Search Algorithms(HSA).Moreover,a fusion initiated on HSA and GWA operators is used to optimize energy ***,many knapsacks are being utilized to ensure that peak-hour load usage for electricity customers does not surpass a certain *** has proven beneficial in achieving numerous objectives simultaneously,decreasing the peak-to-average ratio and power *** MATLAB simulations are cast-off to evaluate the routine of the anticipated method,Harmony GWA(HGWA).The simulations are for a multifamily housing complex outfitted with various cool *** simulation results indicate that GWA functions better regarding cost savings than *** reputes of PAR,HSA is significantly more effective than *** suggested method reduces costs for single and ten-house construction by up to 2200.3 PKR,as opposed to 503.4 in GWA,398.10 in HSA and 640.3 in *** suggested approach performed better than HSA and GWA in PAR *** single-family homes in HGWA,GWA and HSA,the reduction in PAR is 45.79%,21.92%and 20.54%,*** hybrid approach,however,performs better than the currently used nature-inspired techniques in terms of Cost and PAR.

In this paper, a bank of tubes containing a flowing fluid which is immersed in a cross flow second medium of fluid with different temperature has been studied numerically using computational fluid dynamics. Laminar steady flow with a low Reynolds number has been studied in this work. Inlet mass flow rate and the bulk temperature are known and numerical method has been implemented to study the convective heat transfer to investigate the temperature and flow fields. Effects of different inlet bulk temperatures and mass flow rates have been investigated on temperature and pressure variations.

Mice deficient in the transcription factor pleomorphic adenoma gene 1(PLAG1)exhibit reproductive issues that are characterized,in part,by decreased progressive sperm motility in the ***,the underlying cause of this impairment is *** epididymal transit is critical for sperm maturation and motility,the morphology of the epididymis of Plag1-deficient mice was investigated and the spatial expression patterns of PLAG1 protein and mRNA were *** X-gal staining and in situ hybridization,PLAG1 was shown to be widely expressed in both the epithelium and stroma in all regions of the mouse ***,the X-gal staining pattern was markedly different in the cauda,where it could be suggestive of PLAG1 secretion into the epididymal *** all ages investigated,the morphology of epididymides from Plag1 knockout(KO)mice was aberrant;the tubule failed to elongate and coil,particularly in the corpus and cauda,and the cauda was malformed,lacking its usual bulbous ***,the epididymides from Plag1 KO mice were significantly reduced in size relative to body *** 20%of Plag1-deficient mice,the left testicle and epididymis were *** impaired morphogenesis of the epididymal tubule is likely to be a major contributing factor to the fertility problems observed in male Plag1-deficient *** results also establish PLAG1 as an important regulator of male reproduction,not only through its involvement in testicular sperm production,but also via its role in the development and function of the epididymis.

NO-cGMP-K channel-dependent anti-nociceptive activities of methanol stem bark extract of Piptadeniastrum africanum(Mimosaceae) on rats

Objective: To explore anti-hyperalgesic properties of methanol extract of Piptadeniastrum africanum stem bark(PAME) and it possible action mechanism. Methods: PAME was tested on carrageenan ?induced hyperalgesia using plantar test(thermal) and analgesymeter(mechanical) in rats, on prostaglandin E_2(PGE_2) induced mechanical hyperalgesia and vincristine induced neuropathic pain in rat, both with analgesymeter. Modulators of NO/cG MP/K^+ channel pathway and endogenous opioids receptor antagonists and/or agonists were used to determine the possible action mechanism of PAME. Results: PAME significantly decreased carrageenan induced thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia, as well as PGE_2 induced mechanical hyperalgesia. PAME significantly protected the animals against the installation of neuropathic pain. Anti-nociception activity produced by PAME was significantly blocked in animals pre?treated with all the antagonists(naloxone, NW-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME), methylene blue and glibenclamide). Conclusions: Results of this study reveal that, PAME administrate orally, can induce anti-hyperalgesic action against installation of inflammatory pain as well as neuropathic pain. The mechanism underlying PAME antihyperalgesic effect could probably be associated with an activation of opioid receptors and NO/cG MP/K^+ channel pathway.

Land Use and Environmental Gradients Influence on Riparian Woody Plant Diversity and Structure in Lake Manyara Watershed Ecosystem, Tanzania

Riparian vegetations are important in supporting ecological connectivity between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The structure and species composition of riparian woody plants have been subjected to multiple forces with varying degree of influences. This study examined the influence of land use and environmental gradient to the structure and composition of the riparian woody plants in northern Tanzania. A total of 270 plots were surveyed for woody plant species in the riparian ecosystems and later analysed to determine the influence of land use categories (homegarden, crop field, woodlot, open canopy forest, and closed canopy forest) and environmental variables (temperature, precipitation, elevation and slope) to the species richness, abundance, and stand parameters. Basal area was higher in woodlots, homegardens and crop fields than in the open and closed canopy forests;and as expected the reverse was true for the number of stocking density. Correlation among stand parameters with environmental variables varied significantly. Species richness and species abundance were negatively correlated to precipitation, temperature and elevation, while stocking density and basal area were positively correlated to precipitation. The study recommends continual retentions of trees on farm, further promoting of agroforestry interventions and sustainable utilization of woody plants in open and close canopy forests.
