The distinction and precise identification of tumor nodules are crucial for timely lung cancer diagnosis andplanning intervention. This research work addresses the major issues pertaining to the field of medical imageprocessing while focusing on lung cancer Computed Tomography (CT) images. In this context, the paper proposesan improved lung cancer segmentation technique based on the strengths of nature-inspired approaches. Thebetter resolution of CT is exploited to distinguish healthy subjects from those who have lung cancer. In thisprocess, the visual challenges of the K-means are addressed with the integration of four nature-inspired swarmintelligent techniques. The techniques experimented in this paper are K-means with Artificial Bee Colony (ABC),K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), K-means with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Kmeanswith Firefly Algorithm (FFA). The testing and evaluation are performed on Early Lung Cancer ActionProgram (ELCAP) database. The simulation analysis is performed using lung cancer images set against metrics:precision, sensitivity, specificity, f-measure, accuracy,Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC), Jaccard, and *** detailed evaluation shows that the K-means with Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) significantly improved thequality of lung cancer segmentation in comparison to the other optimization approaches utilized for lung cancerimages. The results exhibit that the proposed approach (K-means with CSA) achieves precision, sensitivity, and Fmeasureof 0.942, 0.964, and 0.953, respectively, and an average accuracy of 93%. The experimental results prove thatK-meanswithABC,K-meanswith PSO,K-meanswith FFA, andK-meanswithCSAhave achieved an improvementof 10.8%, 13.38%, 13.93%, and 15.7%, respectively, for accuracy measure in comparison to K-means segmentationfor lung cancer images. This work presents the first electrical and optical measurements of the initial phase of hydrogen discharge in the upgraded spherical tokamak GLAST-III, initiated with electron cyclotron heating（ECH）. Diagnostic measurements provide insights into expected and unexpected physics issues related to the initial phase of discharge. A triple Langmuir probe（TLP） has been developed to measure time series of the floating potential, plasma electron temperature and number density over the entire discharge, allowing monitoring of the two phases of the discharge： the ECH pre-ionization phase following by the plasma current formation phase. A TLP has the ability to give time-resolved measurements of the floating potential（V_（float））, electron temperature（T_e） and ion saturation current（I_（sat）∝n_e√kT_e）.sat e eThe evolution of the ECH-assisted pre-ionization and subsequent plasma current phases in one shot are well envisioned by the probe. Intense fluctuations in the plasma current phase advocate for efficient equilibrium and feedback control systems. Moreover, the emergence of some strong impurity lines in the emission spectrum, even after only a few shots, suggests a crucial need for improvements in the base vacuum level. A noticeable change in the shape of the temporal profiles of the floating potential, electron temperature, ion saturation current（I_（sat）） and light emission has been observed with changing hydrogen fill pressure and vertical magnetic field.

Synergistic antibacterial effect of honey and Herba Ocimi Basilici against some bacterial pathogens

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the antibacterial activity of the combination of different honey brands and methanolic fraction of Herba Ocimi Basilici using agar well diffusion assay. METHODS： The antibacterial activity was deter- mined against thirteen pathogenic bacterial clini- cal isolates including six gram negative （Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimirium, Xanthomonas campestris） and six gram positive strains （Enterococcus faecalis faecalis, Bacillus subti- lis, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens type C, Clostridium perfringens type D, CIostridium chauvoei）. Agar well diffusion method was used while zones of inhibition were measured with verni- er scale. RESULTS： At higher concentration, all the honey brands showed good to significant activity. Thehighest activity was observed for Hamdard brand honey （27.60±0.40） against Enterococcus faecalis. CONCLUSION： These results revealed that combi- nations of plant extracts of Herba Ocimi Basilici with honey can be used for the development of potent and novel antibacterial agents.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the antimicrobial activity of commercially available honey and raw honey samples in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Pakistan,against pathogenic bacterial ***:Well diffusion assays were performed to screen pure and diluted honey samples for antibacterial activity against six Gram-negative and six Gram-positive bacterial *** of inhibition were measured and compared with 10 mg ***:When honey samples were diluted to20%-70%,the honey samples showed no activity to mild antibacterial *** highest antibacterial activity was recorded when 90%and pure undiluted honey samples were tested and compared with a control Gentamycin disc(10 mg).CONCLUSION:Commercially processed honey and raw honey samples from north-west of Pakistan possess good antimicrobial potential.

Nickel phthalocyanine(Ni Pc) film was deposited onto the surface of flexible conductive glass by rubbing-in technology and used to fabricate devices based on ITO/Ni Pc/CNT/rubber structure. The I–V characteristics of the devices were investigated under different uniaxial pressures of 200, 280, and 480 gf/cm^(2), applied perpendicular to the surface of the Ni Pc film. Results showed that the nonlinearity coefficients of the I–V curves are in the range of 2 to 3, which was found to be decreased with the increase of the pressure. The rectification ratio of the devices was estimated to be varied from 1.5 to 3 based on the applied pressure. Concluding, the resistance of the active layers was decreased with the increase of both pressure and voltage. We believe that using the rubbing-in technology under sufficient applied pressure it is possible to utilize Ni Pc for the development of various electronic devices such as diodes, nonlinear resistors, and sensors.
