In-plane compression experiments are performed on 3D fine weave pierced C/C composite at a wide strain rate range of 0.0001/s-1000/s.The in-plane compressive failure mechanism of the composite at quasi-static and high strain rates is analyzed by a scanning electron microscope.The results show that the in-plane compressive modulus,maximum stress and the corresponding strain increase with increasing strain rate.The quasi-static in-plane compressive failure mode of the 3D fine weave pierced C/C composite is characterized by the shear failure at the angle of 45°and the local buckling of the^direction fiber bundles.In comparison,the high strain rate in-plane compression failure mode of the composite is characterized by the compressive fracture of the interlaminar matrix and the progressive compression failure of the a>direction fiber bundles.A strain-rate-dependent in-plane compressive constitutive model is proposed to predict the dynamic in-plane compressive response of the composite.The proposed constitutive model is verified by experimental data.

Squeeze casting is a well-established and reliable process for fabricating high-integrity metallic alloys,bimetals,and composites.The quality and high performance of squeeze cast components are dependent on optimum casting conditions.Inappropriate selection of parameter values may adversely affect the quality of the casting.The squeeze cast components are generally subjected to secondary processing such as heat treatment,extrusion,and other bulk deformation processes to improve the microstructural features and mechanical properties.Heat treatment further refines the grains and reduces porosity,consequently improving tensile strength,and hardness;however,ductility decreases.This paper provides a comprehensive review on studies concerning the influence of processing parameters on porosity,density,percentage elongation,strength,hardness,wear,and fracture of squeeze casting alloys,aiming to provide sufficient information on the squeeze casting process and the effects of processing parameters on product quality.

High C:N ratio in the wastewater limits biological nitrogen removal(BNR),especially in anammox based technologies.The present study attempts to improve the COD tolerance of the BNR process by associating methanogens with nitrogen removing bacterial(NRB)populations.The new microbial system coined as‘Methammox’,was investigated for simultaneous removal of COD(C)and ammonia(N)at C:N ratio 1.5:1 to 14:1.The ammonia removal rate(11.5 mg N/g VSS/d)and the COD removal rates(70.6 mg O/g VSS/d)of Methammox was close to that of the NRB(11.1 mg N/g VSS/d)and the methanogenic populations(77.9 mg O/g VSS/d),respectively.The activities established that these two populations existed simultaneously and independently in‘Methammox’.Further studies in biofilm reactor fetched a balanced COD and ammonia removal(55%–60%)at a low C:N ratio(£2:1)and high C:N ratio(≥9:1).The population abundance of methanogens was reasonably constant,but the nitrogen removal shifted from mixotrophy to heterotrophy as the C:N ratio shifted from low(C:N£2:1)to high(C:N≥9:1).The reduced autotrophic NRB(ammonia-and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and Anammox)population at a high C:N ratio was compensated by the fermentative group that could carry out denitrification heterotrophically.The functional plasticity of the Methammox system to adjust to a broad C:N ratio opens new frontiers in biological nitrogen removal of high COD containing wastewaters.

Healthy chickens are necessary to meet the ever-increasing demand for poultry meat.Birds are subjected to numerous stressful conditions under commercial rearing systems,including variations in the envi-ronmental temperature.However,it is difficult to counter the effects of global warming on the livestock industry.High environmental temperature is a stressful condition that has detrimental effects on growth and production performance,resulting in decreased feed intake,retarded growth,compromised gut health,enhanced oxidative stress,and altered immune responses.Traditional approaches include nutritional modification and housing management to mitigate the harmful effects of hot environments.Currently,broiler chickens are more susceptible to heat stress(HS)than layer chickens because of their high muscle mass and metabolic rate.In this review,we explored the possibility of in ovo manipulation to combat HS in broiler chickens.Given their short lifespan from hatching to market age,embryonic life is thought to be one of the critical periods for achieving these objectives.Chicken embryos can be modulated through either temperature treatment or nourishment to improve thermal tolerance during the rearing phase.We first provided a brief overview of the harmful effects of HS on poultry.An in-depth evaluation was then presented for in ovo feeding and thermal manipulation as emerging strategies to combat the negative effects of HS.Finally,we evaluated a combination of the two methods using the available data.Taken together,these investigations suggest that embryonic manipulation has the po-tential to confer heat resistance in chickens.

Companies are eager to have a smart supply chain especially when they have adynamic system. Industry 4.0 is a concept which concentrates on mobility andreal-time integration. Thus, it can be considered as a necessary component thathas to be implemented for a dynamic vehicle routing problem. The aim of thisresearch is to solve large-scale DVRP (LSDVRP) in which the delivery vehiclesmust serve customer demands from a common depot to minimize transit costswhile not exceeding the capacity constraint of each vehicle. In LSDVRP, it isdifficult to get an exact solution and the computational time complexity growsexponentially. To find near-optimal answers for this problem, a hierarchicalapproach consisting of three stages: “clustering, route-construction, routeimprovement”is proposed. The major contribution of this paper is dealing withLSDVRP to propose the three-stage algorithm with better results. The resultsconfirmed that the proposed methodology is applicable.

IoT usage in healthcare is one of the fastest growing domains all over the world which applies to every age *** of Medical Things(IoMT)bridges the gap between the medical and IoT field where medical devices communicate with each other through a wireless communication network.Advancement in IoMT makes human lives easy and better.This paper provides a comprehensive detailed literature survey to investigate different IoMT-driven applications,methodologies,and techniques to ensure the sustainability of IoMT-driven systems.The limitations of existing IoMTframeworks are also analyzed concerning their applicability in real-time driven systems or applications.In addition to this,various issues(gaps),challenges,and needs in the context of such systems are highlighted.The purpose of this paper is to interpret a rigorous review concept related to IoMT and present significant contributions in the field across the research fraternity.Lastly,this paper discusses the opportunities and prospects of IoMT and discusses various open research problems.

A set of 45 diverse Asian and African origin/bred populations of pearl millet were investigated multi-locationally for morphological traits including grain yield and assessed for their fertility restoration ability on three cytoplasmic male sterility(CMS) systems in two contrasting seasons. Significant genetic variation was found for all the yield linked traits. Multivariate analysis for grain yield and its component traits grouped these populations into five clusters. Most of the Asian origin populations grouped into single cluster(Cluster III) and separated from the rest of the African origin populations indicating the presence of correspondence between clustering pattern and geographical origin of the populations. Clusters dominated with Asian populations(As-As) had linkages with early flowering, short plant height, more number of tillers, small and thin panicles, small seeded and low grain yield compared to the clusters dominated by African populations(Af-Af) or African origin and Asian bred(Af-As) populations.Genetically related populations having common parentage were found grouped in same clusters.Fertility restoration/maintainer frequency of 45 populations on three diverse CMS systems revealed that overall fertility restoration frequency was highest for A1(86%) followed by A4(37%) and for A5(7%) CMS system. Five populations were identified as potential sources for developing maintainer lines for all three CMS systems and eight populations were identified specifically for A;and A;CMS systems. A set of 11 and four populations were identified for restorer line development exclusively for A;and A;CMS system,respectively. Six populations were identified for the development of dual restorers for both A;and A;CMS system.

Electric vehicles(EVs)are one of the more emerging and significant areas,representing the future of transportation.Moreover,the increased demand for EVs brings greater attention toward the development of the charging infrastructure.Therefore,this paper addresses the multifunctional charging system integrated with the grid,EV battery and household utilities.It presents an improved idea about the charging system with grid connection and its connection to the varying local nonlinear load.It consists of a voltage source converter(VSC)tied to the grid and bidirectional converter,which charges/discharges the battery and also regulates the constant voltage across the DC bus,where all the vehicles are connected for charging.It also shows the operations of charging/discharging the battery of EVs and the voltage and current profile across the battery as per the state of charge(SOC)limits.Moreover,the sparse constrained proportionate normalized least mean fourth(SCP-NLMF)based method is used to control the charging system by estimating the active component of load current.The derived mean square error(MSE)of load current is improved due to low convergence rates in later periods.The adaptation process becomes more accurate by mitigating the MSE error of load current to converge faster and the dynamic response is further improved.The simulated and tested results validate the accuracy and efficacy of the SCPNLMF technique and charging system.

The performance of a helical soil nailed structure is dependent on the installation torque required and the consequent pullout resistance developed.The present research work aims at proposing theoretical models to estimate the required torque during installation of helical soil nails.Moreover,theoretical models are also developed to predict the pullout capacity of single and group of the helical nail for uniform and staggered arrangements.The proposed model predicts the pure-elastic and elastic-plastic pullout behavior of different helical nails.An equation for estimating the capacity-totorque Ratio(Kt)has also been developed for different nail shaft diameters.The results from the proposed models are validated with experimental results obtained from model testing of both single and group of helical nails.The predicted results are also compared for validation with the published literature.The results for installation torque and pullout load depict that the developed models predict values which are in accordance with the experimental results and are also found in good agreement with the published literature.Thus,the proposed models can effectively be used by the filed engineers for estimating the required installation torque and corresponding pullout capacities for single or double plate helical soil nails in cohesionless soil under surcharge pressure range of 0–50k Pa.

In Agriculture Sciences, detection of diseases is one of the mostchallenging tasks. The mis-interpretations of plant diseases often lead towrong pesticide selection, resulting in damage of crops. Hence, the automaticrecognition of the diseases at earlier stages is important as well as economicalfor better quality and quantity of fruits. Computer aided detection (CAD)has proven as a supportive tool for disease detection and classification, thusallowing the identification of diseases and reducing the rate of degradationof fruit quality. In this research work, a model based on convolutional neuralnetwork with 19 convolutional layers has been proposed for effective andaccurate classification of Marsonina Coronaria and Apple Scab diseases fromapple leaves. For this, a database of 50,000 images has been acquired bycollecting images of leaves from apple farms of Himachal Pradesh (H.P)and Uttarakhand (India). An augmentation technique has been performedon the dataset to increase the number of images for increasing the accuracy.The performance analysis of the proposed model has been compared with thenew two Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models having 8 and 9 layersrespectively. The proposed model has also been compared with the standardmachine learning classifiers like support vector machine, k-Nearest Neighbour, Random Forest and Logistic Regression models. From experimentalresults, it has been observed that the proposed model has outperformed theother CNN based models and machine learning models with an accuracy of99.2%.
