Susceptibility of gastrointestinal dysmotility increases with age-associated colonic degeneration.A paucity of remedies reversing colonic degeneration per se hinders the fundamental relief of *** we discovered the correlation between colon degeneration and altered nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD)level in aged *** to 3-month-old young controls,2-year-old mice showed a spectrum of degenerative colonic phenotypes and exhibited a significant elongated transit time and slowed stool frequency in the context of Lomotil-induced slow-transit *** upregulated colonic tryptophan hydroxylases expression,serotonin release and expression of colon-predominant type IV serotonin receptor,reduced viability of interstitial cells of Cajal while enhanced aquaporins(Aqp1,3 and 11)led to a less colonic motility and increased luminal dehydration in aged ***,this colonic degeneration was accompanied with reduced key NAD^(+)-generating enzyme expression and lowered NAD^(+)/NADH ratio in aged ***-month continuous administration of beta nicotinamide mononucleotide,a NAD^(+)precursor,elevated colonic NAD^(+)level and improved defecation in aged *** contrast,pharmacological inhibition of nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase,the rate-limiting enzyme for NAD^(+)biosynthesis,induced a reduction in colonic NAD content and impaired gastrointestinal function in young *** together,these findings suggest the beneficial effect of NAD^(+)in maintaining colonic homoeostasis and reactivating NAD^(+)biosynthesis may represent a promising strategy to counteract age-related gastrointestinal degeneration.

The genus Musa is one of three genera in the family Musaceae, which includes bananas and plantains, which are monocotyledonous plants. Bananas have valuable nutritional content of vitamin C, B6, minerals, and dietary fiber and are a rich food energy source, given that carbohydrates account for 22%–32% of fruit weight. Molecular markers are valuable for crop improvement and population genetics studies. The availability of whole-genome sequence and in silico approaches has revolutionized bulk marker discovery. We describe an online web genomic resource, BanSatDB(http://***/bansatdb/) having the highest number(>341,000) of putative STR markers from Musa genera so far, represented by three species: M. acuminata(110,000), M. balbisiana(107,000), and M. itinerans(124,000)from 11 chromosomes of each species. BanSatDB has also been populated with 580 validated STR markers from the published literature. It is based on a three-tier architecture using MySQL, PHP and Apache. The markers can be retrieved by use of multiple search parameters including chromosome number(s), microsatellite types(simple or compound),repeat nucleotides(1–6), copy number, microsatellite length, pattern of repeat motif, and chromosome location. These markers can be used for Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability(DUS) tests of variety identification and for marker assisted selection(MAS) in variety improvement and management. These STRs have also proved to be helpful in classification of Musa germplasm to distinguish individual accessions and in the development of a standardized procedure for genotyping. These markers can also be used in gene discovery and QTL mapping. The database represents a source of markers for developing and implementing new approaches for molecular breeding, which are required to enhance banana productivity.

We present an independent catalog(FRIIRGcat)of 45,241 Fanaroff–Riley TypeⅡ(FR-Ⅱ)radio galaxies compiled from the Very Large Array Faint Images of the Radio Sky at Twenty-centimeters(FIRST)survey and employed the deep learning *** them,optical and/or infrared counterparts are identified for 41,425 FR-Ⅱ*** catalog spans luminosities 2.63×10^(22)≤L_(rad)≤6.76×10^(29)W Hz^(-1)and redshifts up to z=*** spectroscopic classification indicates that there are 1431 low-excitation radio galaxies and 260 high-excitation radio *** the spectroscopically identified sources,black hole masses are estimated for 4837 FR-Is,which are in 10^(7.5)■M_(BH)■10^(9.5)M_(⊙).Interestingly,this catalog reveals a couple of giant radio galaxies(GRGs),which are already in the existing GRG catalog,confirming the efficiency of this FR-I ***,284new GRGs are unveiled in this new FR-I sample;they have the largest projected sizes ranging from 701 to1209 kpc and are located at redshifts 0.31

Facial nerve schwannoma occurring within the parotid gland is a rare tumour. We report a case of schwannoma within the parotid gland in a young female patient, who underwent ultrasound and magnetic resonanceimaging(MRI) and subsequent surgical excision of the lesion. The lesion showed hyperintensity on T2-weighted and diffusion-weighted MRI. There was no adjacent lymphadenopathy. Although hyperintensity on diffusionweighted MRI could suggest malignant tumours, the characteristic "string sign" provided the clue for the diagnosis of schwannoma.
