Evaluation of Patient-Specific Quality Assurance for Carbon Ion Radiotherapy Using Full Energy Scanning Method at QST Hospital

Purpose: Patient-specific QA (PSQA) measurements for carbon ion radiotherapy (CIRT) are critical components of processes designed to identify discrepancies between calculated and delivered doses. We report the results of PSQA conducted at the QST Hospital during the period from September 2017 to March 2018. Methods: We analyzed PSQA results for 1448 fields for 10 disease sites with various target volumes, target depths and number of energy layers. For the PSQA, all the planned beams were recalculated on a water phantom with treatment planning software. The recalculated dose distributions were compared with the measured distributions using a 2D ionization chamber array at three depths, including 95% of the area of the prescription dose. These recalculated dose distributions were evaluated using the 3%/3mm gamma index with a passing threshold of 90%. Results: The passing rates for prostate, head and neck, and bone and soft tissue were 96.8%, 99.3%, and 91.7%, respectively. Additionally, 94.7% of lung plans with low energy beams passed. Overall, the CIRT in the QST Hospital reached a high passing rate of more than 95%. Although the remaining 5% failed to pass, there was no dependence between measurement depth and disease sites in these failures. Conclusion: Using PSQA measurements, we confirmed consistency between the planned and delivered doses for CIRT using the full energy scanning method.

自古以来,中国文人常以“风”与“水”的意象论述优秀的文学作品。他们意图讨论的首先是文学所具备的“力”,如杜甫“词源倒流三峡水”等,通过强大激烈的风与水的意象,呈现出文学的力及其带来的运动、变化。进入宋代,与上述性质略有不同的风与水的意象也逐渐增多。自北宋苏洵以“风行水上,涣”来论述文学本质,又经苏轼等人的提倡,这种风与水的意象逐渐普遍化。通过这种自在变化、无碍地改换姿态的风与水的比喻,文人们试图讨论“无意”,亦即超越作者支配而发挥作用的文学及其创造的“自然”之美。通过追溯风与水意象的系谱,可以阐明自六朝至宋代广泛存在的两种类型的诗学即“有力”的诗学与“无意(自然)”的诗学之间关系的诸相,以及由此展现的文学观,特别是关于作者及其“意”“力”的认识。

Selective Mimics of Strigolactone Actions and Their Potential Use for Controlling Damage Caused by Root Parasitic Weeds

Strigolactones （SLs） are a novel class of plant hormones and rhizosphere communication signals, although the molecular mechanisms underlying their activities have not yet been fully determined. Nor is their application in agriculture well developed. The importance of plant hormone agonists has been demonstrated in both basic and applied research, and chemicals that mimic strigolactone functions should greatly facilitate strigolactone research. Here, we report our discovery of a new phenoxyfuranone compound, 4-Br debranone （4BD）, that shows similar activity to that of the major strigolactone （SL） analog GR24 in many aspects of a biological assay on plants. 4BD strongly inhibited tiller bud outgrowth in the SL-deficient rice mutant d10 at the same concentration as GR24, with no adverse effects, even dur- ing prolonged cultivation. This result was also observed in the Arabidopsis thaliana SL-deficient mutants max1, max3, and max4. However, the application of 4BD to the Arabidopsis SL-insensitive mutant max2 induced no morphological changes in it. The expression of SL biosynthetic genes was also reduced by 4BD treatment, probably via negative feed- back regulation. However, in a seed germination assay on Striga hermonthica, a root parasitic plant, 4BD showed far less activity than GR24. These results suggest that 4BD is the first plant-specific strigolactone mimic.

On improving strigolactone mimics for induction of suicidal germination of the root parasitic plant Striga hermonthica

Strigolactones(SLs)are plant hormones that regulate the branching of plants and seed germination stimulants of root parasitic *** root parasites are a great threat to agricultural production,the use of SL agonists could be anticipated to provide an efficient method for regulating root parasites as suicidal germination inducers.A series of phenoxyfuranone-type SL mimics,termed debranones,has been reported to show potent bioactivities,including reduction of the tiller number on rice,and stimulation of seed germination in the root parasite Striga *** exert both activities,two substituents on the phenyl ring of the molecules were important but at least a substituent at the 2-position must be an electron-withdrawing ***,little is known about the effect of the properties of the substituents at the 2-position on ***,we found that different substituents at the 2-position give different preferences for *** debranones were more effective than the others and SL agonist GR24 for inhibiting rice tiller but far less effective in the induction of *** ***,nitrile and methyl derivatives clearly stimulated the germination of *** *** their IC_(50) values were 100 times higher than that of GR24 in the receptor competitive binding assay,their physiological activities were approximately 1/10 of *** differences could be due to their uptake in plants and/or their physicochemical stability under our experimental *** findings could support the design of more potent and selective SL agonists that could contribute to solving big agricultural issues.

Influence of Spatial Features on Land and Housing Prices

The analysis of hidden spatial features is crucial for the improvement of hedonic regression models for analyzing the structure of land and housing prices. If critical variables representing the influence of spatial features are omitted in the models, the residuals and the coefficients estimated usually exhibit some kind of spatial pattern. Hence, exploration of the relationship between the spatial patterns and the spatial features essentially leads to the discovery of omitted variables. The analyses in this paper were based on two exploratory approaches: one on the residual of a global regression model and the other on the geographically weighted regression (GWR) technique. In the GWR model, the regression coefficients are al- lowed to differ by location so more spatial patterns can be revealed. Comparison of the two approaches shows that they play supplementary roles for the detection of lot-associated variables and area-associated variables.

Discrimination of hie and hiesho using toe blood pressure in young women

OBJECTIVE： In Western medicine, hie （cold sensation） is thought as a subjective complaint. Consequently, despite women＇s complaints of health problems due to hie, such as distress and decreased quality of life, it is not diagnosed as a disease or given active treatment. However, hie sometimes requires emergency treatment or is a symptom of other disorders. Thus, diagnosing hie and eliminating distress due to hie are clinically significant. This research aimed to discriminate between hie and hiesho （cold disorder） and quantify hie by using objective assessments in addition to subjective assessments. METHODS： A questionnaire was administered to 159 healthy young women without any underlying disease that could cause hie, followed by assessment of vascular function. These data were examined through exploratory factor analysis, exploratory cluster analysis, and multivariate logistic analysis. Two- and three-group comparisons were made using the Mann-Whitney test and KruskaI-Wallis test, respectively, followed by multiple comparisons using Scheffe＇s ***： The hie （including hiesho） and normal groups comprised 81 （51%） and 78 （49%） subjects, respectively. The questionnaire was a low reliability screening method for determining the severity of hie symptoms. As an index of discrimination of hie and hiesho, we determined the toe-brachial index （TBI） to be 0.81 and toe systolic blood pressure （SBP） to be 87.73 mmHg with a linear function （TBI=0.007 5xtoe SBP＋0.152, adjusted R2=0.829, F（1,79）=388.79, P〈0.001）. CONCLUSION： Toe SBP and TBI were suggested to be capable of discriminating and quantifying symptoms when used in combination with a questionnaire.

Chemical Genetic Dissection of Brassinosteroid-Ethylene Interaction

We undertook a chemical genetics screen to identify chemical inhibitors of brassinosteroid （BR） action. From a chemical library of 10,000 small molecules, one compound was found to inhibit hypocotyl length and activate the expression of a BR-repressed reporter gene （CPD：：GUS） in Arabidopsis, and it was named brassinopride （BRP）. These effects of BRP could be reversed by co-treatment with brassinolide, suggesting that BRP either directly or indirectly inhibits BR biosynthesis. Interestingly, the compound causes exaggerated apical hooks, similar to that caused by ethylene treatment. The BRP-induced apical hook phenotype can be blocked by a chemical inhibitor of ethylene perception or an ethylene-insensitive mutant, suggesting that, in addition to inhibiting BR, BRP activates ethylene response. Analysis of BRP analogs provided clues about structural features important for its effects on two separate targets in the BR and ethylene pathways. Analyses of the responses of various BR and ethylene mutants to BRP, ethylene, and BR treatments revealed modes of cross-talk between ethylene and BR in dark-grown seedlings. Our results suggest that active downstream BR signaling, but not BR synthesis or a BR gradient, is required for ethylene-induced apical hook formation. The BRP-related compounds can be useful tools for manipulating plant growth and studying hormone interactions.
