Utility of current thrombophilia screening in young patients with stroke and TIA

Introduction Approximately 40%of strokes in young adults are *** diagnostic yield of thrombophilia screening remains *** aimed to determine utility of current thrombophilia testing for young patients with stroke and transient ischaemic attack(TIA).Methods We present a retrospective review of all patients with stroke and TIA≤60 years presenting to University College London Hospital stroke unit and daily TIA clinic from 1 January 2015 to 1 August *** clinical records and thrombophilia tests,including factor V Leiden(FVL),prothrombin G20210A mutation(PGM),antiphospholipid antibody(APA),and protein S,C and antithrombin(AT)levels,were *** The mean age of 628 patients with stroke and TIA was 49.1 years(SD 9.2).Thrombophilia testing was performed in 360(57%)patients,including 171 with stroke and 189 with *** tests were found in 50(14%)patients,of whom 24 patients were<50 *** results were found in 36(10%)with acute ischaemic stroke,4(1%)with haemorrhagic stroke and 10(3%)with *** patients(4%)had homozygous/heterozygous FVL or PGM,and 27(7.5%)had positive APA(anticardiolipin antibody,anti-β2 glycoprotein antibody or lupus anticoagulant).Of 27(7.5%)patients with protein C,S or AT deficiency,10(2.8%)had primary deficiency,presumed hereditary with other secondary causes excluded.9%of patients with protein C,S or AT and 27%with APA were followed by confirmatory *** Thrombophilia testing was positive in only 14%of cases *** mutations and protein C,S or AT abnormalities were found rarely and were very uncommon in patients with ***-up of abnormal results was generally poor for all groups,which further limited the impact of the thrombophilia testing policy.

Thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of quark matter within non-extensive Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field model

In the present study,we applied Tsallis non-extensive statistics to investigate the thermodynamic properties and phase diagram of quark matter in the Polyakov chiral SU(3)quark mean field *** this model,the properties of the quark matter were modified through the scalar fieldsσ,ζ,δ,χ,vector fieldsω,ρ,ϕ,and Polyakov fieldsΦandΦ¯at finite temperature and chemical ***-extensive effects were introduced through a dimensionless parameter q,and the results were compared to those of the extensive case(q→1).In the non-extensive case,the exponential in the Fermi-Dirac(FD)function was modified to a q-exponential *** influence of the q parameter on the thermodynamic properties,pressure,energy,and entropy density,as well as trace anomaly,was *** speed of sound and specific heat with non-extensive effects were also ***,the effect of non-extensivity on the deconfinement phase transition as well as the chiral phase transition of u,d,and s quarks was *** found that the critical end point(CEP),which defines the point in the(T−μ)phase diagram where the order of the phase transition changes,shifts to a lower value of temperature,TCEP,and a higher value of chemical potential,μCEP,as the non-extensivity is increased,that is,q>1.

Simultaneous inversion of permeability,skin and boundary from pressure transient test data in three-dimensional single well reservoir model

This study presents a novel approach for simultaneous inversion of the key reservoir parameters like horizontal permeability,vertical permeability,skin,and boundary distances for spatial distribution across the grid cells in a 3D single well reservoir model(SWRM).These parameters are first estimated from the standard pressure transient analysis of well test pressure and rate data,which also act as a priori for the inverse problem.A field-worthy layer cake geological model is prepared based on the prior information obtained from pressure transient analysis,followed by a sequential flow simulation of field well test *** simulation results provide the model pressure versus rate data as the synthetic data for this study.A cost function is defined incorporating the well test pressure data and model pressure data,which would determine the *** inversion process is to optimize the spatial distribution of reservoir parameters to minimize the difference between the measured pressure transient data and the modelled one,which is obtained from the multiphase fluid flow simulator that solves the implicit black-oil fluid-flow diffusivity equations at every step.A Gauss-Newton(GN)inversion scheme is used for the *** reliability of inversion results depends on the accuracy of priori reservoir parameters fed to the solver,which can be refined if required through uncertainty parameter optimization(UPO).This approach helps to obtain a faster and reliable update of reservoir parameters in a layer cake homogeneous geomodel,hereby introducing the required *** increases the confidence and reliability of a geomodel,which is further used for various production prediction strategies.

Several popular time-frequency techniques,including the Wigner-Ville distribution,smoothed pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution,wavelet transform,synchrosqueezing transform,Hilbert-Huang transform,and Gabor-Wigner transform,are investigated to determine how well they can identify damage to *** this work,a synchroextracting transform(SET)based on the short-time Fourier transform is proposed for estimating post-earthquake structural *** performance of SET for artificially generated signals and actual earthquake signals is examined with existing *** other tested techniques,SET improves frequency resolution to a great extent by lowering the influence of smearing along the time-frequency ***,interpretation and readability with the proposed method are improved,and small changes in the time-varying frequency characteristics of the damaged buildings are easily detected through the SET method.
