Improving the performance of power system protection using wide area monitoring systems

Wide area monitoring(WAM) offers many opportunities to improve the performance of power system protection. This paper presents some of these opportunities and the motivation for their development. This methods include monitoring the suitability of relay characteristics,supervisory control of backup protection, more adaptive and intelligent system protection and the creation of novel system integrity protection scheme. The speed of response required for primary protection means that the role WAM in enhancing protection is limited to backup and system protection. The opportunities offered by WAM for enhancing protection are attractive because of the emerging challenges faced by the modern power system protection. The increasingly variable operating conditions of power systems are making it ever more difficult to select relay characteristics that will be a suitable compromise for all loading conditions and contingencies. The maloperation of relays has contributed to the inception and evolution of 70 % of blackouts,thus the supervision of the backup protection may prove a valuable tool for preventing or limiting the scale of blackouts. The increasing interconnection and complexity of modern power systems has made them more vulnerable to wide area disturbances and this has contributed to several recent blackouts. The proper management of these wide area disturbances is beyond the scope of most of the existing protection and new, adaptive system integrity protection schemes are needed to protect power system security.

SP100 is an antiviral protein that restricts the productive stage of human papillomavirus(HPV)and multiple other viruses,and viruses in turn block sUMO-1-mediated stabilization of SP100 and promotes its degradation(Table S1).Interferon(IFN)signaling could still produce more SP100 through transcription to counteract viruses.1 Viruses also disable the transcriptional up-regulation of SP100 to achieve persistent infection in hosts.

Prussian blue analogue(PBA)material is a promising cathode for applications in Na-ion and K-ion batteries which can support high c-rates for charge and *** this study,the material of composition[K2 CuIIFeII(CN)6]was synthesized and its structural and electrochemical redox behavior was investigated with 5 different alkali insertion cations(Li^+,Na^+,K^+,Rb^+,Cs^+).galvanostatic measurements indicate that the redox potential strongly depends on the ionic radius of the inserted *** redox potential varies by 400 m V between using Li^+(0.79A)or Cs^+(1.73A)in the *** underlying modification of the Fe2^+/Fe3^+redox potential in PBA is proposed to be due to the weakening of the Fe–C bond in the *** hypothesis is supported by XRD measurements which reveal that the lattice parameter of the de-intercalated host structure follows the same trend of monotonic increase with the cation *** relatively minor volume changes accompanying the redox(1.2%–2.4%)allow the PBA to accommodate differently sized cations,although the structural hindrances are quite pronounced at high c-rates for the larger ones(Rb^+and Cs^+).Cycle aging studies indicate that the minimum capacity fade rate is observed in case of K^+ and Rb^+ containing *** peak intensity corresponding to the[220]crystallographic plane varies depending on the state of charge of PBA,since this plane contains the insertion *** to the sensitivity of the redox potential to the insertion cation coupled with the observed fast ion-exchange ability,the PBA material may find additional analytical applications such as ion sensing or filtration devices.

Herein,a comprehensive study of electrochemical performances of the combined effect of fluorinated additives;fluoroethylene carbonate(FEC);and tris(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) phosphite(TTFP) or the 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methyl carbonate(TFEMC) as co-solvent,on graphite//LiMn2O4 cells cycled at high potential is *** one side,each additive has a specific function,the FEC is dedicated to the negative electrode and the TTFP to the opposite *** electrolyte mixture with(4% FEC+1% TTFP) additive has shown the best ability to reduce fading of the LiMn2O4 electrode,especially at high *** the other side,by studying the comparative thermal and transport properties of the formulated electrolytes with different proportions of TFEMC,we demonstrate that the difference in charge distribution of EMC and TFEMC molecules induced by the presence of fluorine atoms,modifies the solvation model of the Li+cation,and changes its behavior at the CEI interface and impact strongly the electrochemical ***,the EIS investigation of the LMO/electrolyte interfaces in the presence of TFEMC demonstrates that despite a spontaneous chemical reactivity of the TFEMC at the cathode interface over time,the conductive and good quality CEI is formed,which positively impact the *** study shows that against LMO surface phenomena,the combination in adequate proportions of fluorinated additives or solvent can be a solution not only to avoid the oxidative reactivity of LMO-cathode,but also to prevent its harmful consequences on the Li-metal or graphite-anode by controlling the solvation of lithium-ion.

Objective: To assess the safety and efficacy of herbal formulation rich in standardized fenugreek seed extract(IND-2) add-on therapy in type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) patients who were on insulin treatment in prospective, single arm, open-label, uncontrolled, multicentre ***: T2DM patients(n=30) with aged 18-80 years who were stabilized on insulin treatment with fasting blood sugar(FBS) level between 100-140 mg/dL received IND-2 capsules(700 mg, thrice a day) for 16 *** primary endpoints were an assessment of FBS at week 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 and *** end-points include post-prandial blood sugar level, glycosylated Hb(HbA1c), reduction in the dose of insulin and number of hypoglycemic attacks, and improvement in lipid profile at various *** and adverse events(AEs) were also assessed during the ***: Study was completed in twenty T2DM patients, and there was no significant reduction in FBS and post-prandial blood sugar level after addon therapy of ***, add-on therapy of IND-2 significantly reduced(Pglycemic events as compared with *** cholesterol, high-density lipoproteins-cholesterol, and low-density lipoproteincholesterol levels were significantly increased(Pght and safety outcomes did not differ significantly in IND-2 add-on therapy group at week ***, add-on therapy of IND-2 did not produce any serious adverse ***: The results of present investigation suggest that add-on therapy of IND-2 with insulin in T2DM patients improves glycaemic control through a decrease in levels of HbA1c and number of insulin doses needed per day without an increase in body weight and risk of ***, IND-2 may provide a safe and well-tolerated add-on therapy option for the management of T2DM.

AIM:To characterize phosphorylation of human glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase(gAPDH),and mobility of gAPDH in cancer cells treated with chemotherapeutic agents. METHODS:We used proteomics analysis to detect and characterize phosphorylation sites within human gAPDH. Site-specific mutagenesis and alanine scanning was then performed to evaluate functional significance of phosphorylation sites in the gAPDH polypeptide chain. Enzymatic properties of mutated gAPDH variants were assessed using kinetic studies. Intranuclear dynamics parameters(diffusion coefficient and the immobile fraction) were estimated using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching(FRAP) experiments and confocal microscopy. Molecular modeling experiments were performed to estimate the effects of mutations on NAD+ cofactor ***:Using MALDI-TOF analysis,we identified novel phosphorylation sites within the NAD+ binding center of gAPDH at Y94,S98,and T99. Using polyclonal antibody specific to phospho-T99-containing peptide within gAPDH,we demonstrated accumulation of phospho-T99-gAPDH inthe nuclear fractions of A549,HCT116,and SW48 cancer cel s after cytotoxic stress. We performed site-mutagenesis,and estimated enzymatic properties,intranuclear distribution,and intranuclear mobility of gAPDH mutated variants. Site-mutagenesis at positions S98 and T99 in the NAD+ binding center reduced enzymatic activity of gAPDH due to decreased affinity to NAD+(Km = 741 ± 257 μmol/L in T99 I vs 57 ± 11.1 μmol/L in wild type gAPDH. Molecular modeling experiments revealed the effect of mutations on NAD+ binding with gAPDH. FRAP(fluorescence recovery after photo bleaching) analysis showed that mutations in NAD+ binding center of gAPDH abrogated its intranuclear interactions. CONCLUSION:Our results suggest an important functional role of phosphorylated amino acids in the NAD+ binding center in gAPDH interactions with its intranuclear partners.
