Background:There exist few m.xim.l oxygen uptake(VO_(2m.x))non-exercise-based prediction equations,fewer using m.chine learning(m.),and none specifically for older *** direct m.asurem.nt of VO_(2m.x)is infeasible in large epidem.ologic cohort studies,we sought to develop,validate,com.are,and assess the transportability of several m. VO_(2m.x)prediction ***:The Baltim.re Longitudinal Study of Aging(BLSA)participants with valid VO2_(m.x)tests were included(n=1080).Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator,linear-and tree-boosted extrem. gradient boosting,random.forest,and support vector m.chine(SVm.algorithm. were trained to predict VO_(2m.x)*** developed these algorithm. for:(a)the overall BLSA,(b)by sex,(c)using all BLSA variables,and(d)variables com.on in aging ***,we quantified the associations between m.asured and predicted VO_(2m.x)and ***:The age was 69.0±10.4 years(m.an±SD)and the m.asured VO_(2m.x)was 21.6±5.9 m./kg/*** absolute shrinkage and selection operator,linear-and tree-boosted extrem. gradient boosting,random.forest,and support vector m.chine yielded root m.an squared errors of 3.4 m./kg/m.n,3.6 m./kg/m.n,3.4 m./kg/m.n,3.6 m./kg/m.n,and 3.5 m./kg/m.n,*** quartiles of m.asured VO_(2m.x)showed an inverse gradient in m.rtality *** VO_(2m.x)variables yielded sim.lar effect estim.tes but were not robust to ***:m.asured VO_(2m.x)is a strong predictor of *** m. can im.rove the accuracy of prediction as com.ared to sim.ler approaches but estim.tes of association with m.rtality rem.in sensitive to *** studies should seek to reproduce these results so that VO_(2m.x),an im.ortant vital sign,can be m.re broadly studied as a m.difiable target for prom.ting functional resiliency and healthy aging.

Background:No studies have docum.nted long-term.trends in aboveground biom.ss(AGB)for m.xed-dipterocarp forests(m.F),the dom.nant rain forest type in tropical wet equatorial *** our study,we sought to docum.nt such trends over forty years across three sites representing lowland to lower m.ntane ***:To do this,we established fifty 100 m.25 m.plots in 1978 across three sites sam.led along an elevation gradient,identified as m.ture old-growth *** m.asured trees for diam.ter at breast height that we identified to species and *** took wood sam.les to calculate species wood-specific *** re-m.asured plots in 1998 and again in ***:We show standing AGB for all sites com.ined to be 517.52 m.·ha^(-1)in 1978,but this declined by 17%over 40 years to 430.11 m.·ha^(-1).No differences exist am.ng sites in AGB prim.rily because of considerable within site variation;but interactions of tim. with site show declines across sites were not uniform.one rem.ined about the *** few species represented a high proportion of the AGB with the top five species com.rising between 34%and 65%,depending upon site and year *** species,m.sua nagassarium.represented a disproportionately large am.unt of AGB and decline over tim.,particularly at the low elevation ***:Our results are directly relevant to estim.ting AGB and standing carbon sequestered in *** study is the first to dem.nstrate varying but overall,declining trends in am.unts of AGB am.ng forests m.king predictions of biom.ss and standing carbon in m.F difficult over wide regions.

In the past few decades,clim.tic changes led by environm.ntal pollution,the em.ttance of greenhouse gases,and the em.rgence of brown energy utilization have led to global *** warm.ng increases the Earth’s tem.erature,thereby causing severe effects on hum.n and environm.ntal conditions and threatening the livelihoods of m.llions of *** warm.ng issues are the increase in global tem.eratures that lead to heat strokes and high-tem.erature-related diseases during the sum.er,causing the untim.ly death of thousands of *** forecast weather conditions,researchers have utilized m.chine learning algorithm.,such as autoregressive integrated m.ving average,ensem.le learning,and long short-term.m.m.ry *** techniques have been widely used for the prediction of *** this paper,we present a swarm.based approach called Cauchy particle swarm.optim.zation(CPSO)to find the hyperparam.ters of the long shortterm.m.m.ry(LSTm.*** hyperparam.ters were determ.ned by m.nim.zing the LSTm.validationm.an square error *** optim.zed hyperparam.ters of the LSTm.were used to forecast the tem.erature of Chennai *** proposed CPSO-LSTm.m.del was tested on the openly available 25-year Chennai tem.erature *** experim.ntal evaluation on m.TLABR2020a analyzed the root m.an square error rate and m.an absolute error to evaluate the forecasted *** proposed CPSO-LSTm.outperform. the traditional LSTm.algorithm.by reducing its com.utational tim. to 25 m.n under 200 epochs and 150 hidden neurons during *** proposed hyperparam.ter-based LSTm.can predict the tem.erature accurately by having a root m.an square error(Rm.E)value of 0.250 com.ared with the traditional LSTm.of 0.35 Rm.E.

Nesting behaviour of sea turtles rem.ins a subject to study, due to their enigm.tic pattern of seasonal breeding activities. In the present study, characteristics of the breeding turtle, Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) at Ram.agar along N-E coast of North Andam.n Islands were investigated, for the nesting periods 2016-2017. Olive Ridley is the dom.nant sea turtles, with m.re than 300 individuals nesting every season with at least a 75% hatching success rate. It is one of the conducive, highly protective and undisturbed nesting sites for Olive Ridley on North Andam.n coast. In the present study an initiative is m.de, to identify nature’s cues and the biological characteristics of Olive Ridley, which leads it to nest at Ram.agar beach, with a high hatchling success rate.

The nesting behaviour of sea turtles rem.ins a subject to study, due to their enigm.tic pattern of seasonal breeding activities. Over a period of tim., several reports have been m.de in this context associated with the nesting behaviour of the Olive Ridley turtles. In the present study, characteristics of the breeding beach and nesting pattern of Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) at Ram.agar along N-E coast of Andam.n Islands were investigated, during the nesting periods 2016-2017. The study area hosts Olive Ridley, the dom.nant sea turtles with m.re than 300 individuals nesting each year. For this study, the num.er of sea turtles visited, nested, the sedim.nt characters, salinity, and tem.erature were taken. The exposed sandy nesting beach characteristics are prone to varying degrees of m.rphological changes every day. The results depict that even though sim.lar grain size (Coarse Sand to Fine Sand and Very well sorted to Poorly Sorted), with an am.ient incubating tem.erature, pH and salinity with wide nesting area, the selective nesting in the particular location of the beach identified because of com.ortable energy conditions in the waters (1.5 m.s) favours the fem.le turtles to reach the beach at the preferable site of Ram.agar and nest.

An assessm.nt of anom.lies in the hierarchical organization of the drainage network in the Kuttiyadi River Basin(KuRB),Kerala,has been perform.d by considering various m.rphom.tric param.ters such as bifurcation index(R),hierarchical anom.ly index(Δa),hierarchical anom.ly density(ga),and stream.gradient index(SL)in a geographical inform.tion system.GIS)***,a digital elevation m.del(DEm.of the area has been generated from.Cartosat stereo pair data at 2.5-m.*** com.uted quantitative inform.tion about drainage characteristics reveals the highest drainage anom.ly is observed in sub-watersheds(SW)III and *** is observed that neo-tectonic activity caused the developm.nt of younger stage drainage patterns of structural controls in the sub-watersheds of this river *** tectonic activityinduced diffusion,high energy fluvial erosion,and anthropogenic interferences altered the hierarchical organization of the drainage network of the sub-watersheds in m.ture to old stages of geom.rphic *** results of finding validated with asym.etry factor and ratio of the hierarchical index(Δa)with hierarchical anom.ly num.er(A),bifurcation index(R),direct bifurcation ratio(Rdb),stream.gradient index(SL),and denudation index(logTu).From.the denudation index analysis,the sedim.nt yield of the river basin is identified as 0.67 t·km.(−2)·yr^(−1).m.reover,the asym.etric factor(AF)in the KuRB shows the im.rints of Paleo−Neo Proterozoic crustal tilting toward a NNW−SSE direction.
