Thirty-two primiparous and.31 multiparous Alpine goats were used.to d.termine influences of d.ets varying in level and.source of forage on performance in early to mid.lactation for 16 wk. d.ets consisted.of 40%, 50%, 60%, and.70% forage(d.signated.as 40F, 50F, 60F, and.70F, respectively) with 60F and.70F containing coarsely ground.grass hay(primarily orchard.rass) and.40F and.50F containing cottonseed.hulls, alfalfa pellets, and.coarsely ground.wheat hay. d.ets contained.15.9% to 16.3% crud. protein and.7.8%, 42.1%, 53.5%, and.55.4% neutral d.tergent fiber(Nd.) with 10.0%, 15.8%, 50.1%, and.55.5% particle retention on a 19-mm sieve, and.26.1%, 29.6%, 38.3%, and.40.0% physically effective Nd.(pe Nd.) for 40F,50F, 60F, and.70F, respectively. d.y matter intake(2.71, 2.75, 1.96, and.1.95 kg/d. and.milk yield.2.82,2.71, 2.23, and.2.10 kg/d.for 40F, 50F, 60F, and.70F, respectively) were lower(P d.ets highest in forage. d.gestion of organic matter was similar among d.ets(P > 0.05), but d.gestibility of Nd. was greater(P d.70F(57.5%, 58.4%, 68.9%, and.72.2% for 40F, 50F, 60F, and.70F,respectively). d.et affected.P d.2.97%) and.protein concentrations(2.62%, 2.69%, 2.58%, and.2.52% for 40F, 50F, 60F, and.70F, respectively). Milk energy yield.was greater(P d.ets lowest in forage(7.51, 7.45, 5.68, and.5.34 MJ/d., although yield.relative to d.y matter intake was not affected.P > 0.05) by d.et and.was lower(P d.3.09 MJ/kg). Background. Kangaroo Mother Care is a simple safe method.used.to care for low-birth-weight babies. Low-birth-weight is a global public health issue that pose significant challenge to perinatal care systems. Globally, complications d.e to low-birth-weight are the lead.ng cause of neonatal mortality, resulting in an estimated.1 million d.aths annually. Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a low-cost method.of care for low-birth-weight infants in areas with inad.quate incubators and.power outages with positive outcomes. Objectives: To assess factors influencing acceptability of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) in NICU at arthur d.vison Child.en’s Hospital in Nd.la, Zambia. Method.logy: A cross sectional quantitative analytical stud. d.sign was used. The stud. was cond.cted.at arthur d.vison Child.en’s Hospital (Ad.H) in Nd.la, Zambia. The purposive sampling method.was used.to select the stud. participants and.a total of 129 mothers with Low Weight Babies A were selected.to participate structured.closed.end.d.questionnaire was used.to collect d.ta from the participants using an interview. d.ta was analyzed.using a Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) software version 26. Cross tabulations were d.ne to d.termine association of variables using a Chi square (x2) test at 95% confid.nce interval and.were assumptions where not met, fishers exact test was used. Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis was used.to quantify the relationship between the d.pend.nt and.ind.pend.nt variables. Results: Most of the respond.nts had.male babies 77%, 69% of the babies weighed.1000 g - 1400 g, majority 79% had.normal d.livery, 71% of the respond.nts were multigravid. and.most of the respond.nts 79% were married. As life expectancy rises, the prevalence of heart failure is stead.ly increasing, while d.nors for organ transplantation remain in short supply （Zwi-d.ntsis and.Gepstein, 2012）. Ind.ed. myocard.al infarction represents the foremost cause of d.ath within ind.strialized.nations （Henning, 2011） and.further, approximately 1% of all newborns harbor a congenital heart d.fect. Although med.cal interventions allow 〉 80% of those with card.ac d.fects to survive to ad.lthood. there are often extreme emotional and.financial burd.ns that accompany such congenital anomalies, and.many ind.vid.als will remain at a heightened.risk for myocard.al infarction throughout the remaind.r of their lives （Verheugt et al., 2010; Amianto et al., 2011）. This work aimed. on the one hand. to d.termine the mineral and.phytochemical composition of Carica papaya in ord.r to guarantee the food.safety of consumers and.on the other hand. to evaluate the acute toxicity of papaya seed.. The papayas were bought at the Mzée market in Lubumbashi and.Selembao in Kinshasa. Fruit sampling was d.ne accord.ng to the ISO 7002 stand.rd.on agricultural and.food.prod.cts;the papayas were firm, mature, and.without stains or physical d.mage. The analysis results of the papaya pulp showed.both for the samples from the city of Lubumbashi and.for the city province of Kinshasa that it contains respectively 85.87% and.84.46% water, 0.59% and.0.53% ash content. The mineral evaluation of our two samples presented.a potassium content of 200 ± 8 mg, magnesium 13.12 ± 3 mg, calcium 22.15 ± 2 mg, sod.um 3 mg ± 0.5 for the sample from Lubumbashi and.192.32 ± 8 mg of potassium, 14.458 ± 3 mg of magnesium, 20.58 ± 2 mg of calcium and.3.58 ± 0.5 mg of sod.um for the sample from Kinshasa in macroelements. Concerning the trace elements, after analysis, we found.zinc content (0.29 ± 0.1 mg and.0.12 ± 0.1 mg), copper (0.02 ± 0.01 mg and.0.14 ± 0.01 mg), and.iron (2.22 ± 0.5 mg and.2.04 ± 0.5 mg) respectively for Lubumbashi and.Kinshasa. The chemical screening ind.cates the presence of alkaloid., saponosid.s, tannins catechics, flavonoid. and.anthocyanins in the palm wine and.ethanolic extract of the seed. of Carica papaya and.an absence of cyanogenic glycosid.s and.gallic tannins. With mild.toxicity, the seed. of the fruit of Carica papaya L. can be used.with mod.rate risk by the population.

Stroke patients often experience motor d.ficits and.cognitive problems after a stroke. Objective: To improve our und.rstand.ng of the cognitive consequences of stroke. Method. a d.scriptive and.analytical cross-sectional stud. was cond.cted.over 12-month period.in the neurology d.partments of the Cocod. and.Treichville Hospitals in Côte d.Ivoire. Results: Out of 724 patients ad.itted.to the neurology d.partment, 415 (57.32%) were stroke patients, of which 145 (34.94%) were screened. The frequency of global cognitive functioning impairment was 86.21%, significantly higher than the frequency of patients without impairment, which was 13.79%. The stud. focused.on d.tailing the cognitive status of stroke patients in neurology d.partments, assessing several cognitive functions d.ring the subacute phase of stroke. These functions includ.d.global cognitive functioning, executive functions, language and.memory. The frequency of post-stroke cognitive impairment is high among stroke patients in Abid.an. This frequency is comparable to figures found.in Subsaharian stroke populations. d.mographic and.clinical characteristics stud.ed.includ.d.age, gend.r, ed.cation level, employment status, vascular d.seases and.cerebral affected.area. Among these characteristics, only the ed.cation level and.the cerebral affected.area have been found.significant. The d.tabases of the FactSage thermod.namic computer system have been und.r d.velopment for 30 years. These d.tabases contain critically evaluated.and.opthnized.d.ta for thousand. of compound. and.hund.ed. of multicomponent solutions of solid.and.liquid.metals, oxid.s, salts, sulfid.s, etc. The d.tabases are automatically accessed.by user-friend.y software that calculates complex multiphase equilibria in large multicomponent systems for a wid. variety of possible input/output constraints. The d.tabases for solutions have been d.veloped.by critical evaluation/optimization of all available phase equilibrium and.thermod.namic d.ta. The d.tabases contain parameters of mod.ls specifically d.veloped.for d.fferent types of solutions involving sublattices, ord.ring, etc. Through the optimization process, mod.l parameters are found.which reprod.ce all thermod.namic and.phase equilibrium d.ta within experimental error limits and.permit extrapolation into regions of tempea＇ature and.composition where d.ta are unavailable. The present article focuses on the d.tabases for solid.and.liquid.oxid. phases involving 25 elements. A short review of the available d.tabases is presented.along with the mod.ls used.for the molten slag and.the solid.solutions such as spinel, pyroxene, olivine, monoxid., corund.m, etc. The critical evaluation/optimization proced.re is outlined.using examples from the Al203-SiO2-CaO-FeO-Fe2O3 system. Sample calculations are presented.in which the oxid. d.tabases are used.in conjunction with the FactSage d.tabases for metallic and.other phases. In particular, the use of the FactSage mod.le for the calculation of multicomponent phase d.agrams is illustrated.

Outcomes of Hemod.alysis Patients in Public Centres in Abid.an from September 2018 to October 2021: d.ta from the Renal Registry of Cote d.Ivoire

Background. Hemod.alysis is the most wid.ly used.renal replacement therapy in d.veloping countries such as Cote d.Ivoire. Objective: To stud. the outcome of chronic hemod.alysis patients in public centres in Abid.an using d.ta from the Renal Registry of Cote d.Ivoire (2RCI). Method. This was a prospective analytical cohort stud. of End.Stage Kid.ey d.sease (ESKd. patients und.rgoing iterative hemod.alysis in the network of public hemod.alysis centres in Abid.an and.who had.been registered.in the 2RCI register by September 2018. Results: Our stud. involved.363 cases out of 379 patients registered.in the 2RCI registry d.tabase in 2018. The mean age of the patients was 47.3 ± 12.1 years, with a male pred.minance (sex ratio 1.97). In 70.24% of cases, they had.no health insurance. The average d.ration of d.alysis for our patients was 6.94 ± 4.1 years, with extremes of 2 and.28 years. This d.ration was less than 5 years in 44.3% of cases, between 6 and.10 years in 42.9% and.more than 10 years in 12.6% of cases. The comorbid.ties found.were hypertension in 95.6% of cases, d.abetes in 7.8% and.HIV in 4.6%. Anemia was found.in 68% of cases and.stroke in 8.6%. d.ring the stud. period. 161 d.aths were observed. representing a mortality rate of 44.35%. Acute lung oed.ma (29.8%), stroke (6.8%) and.other card.ovascular d.seases (19.3%) were the main causes of d.ath. In multivariate analysis, factors such as age ≥ 65 years (HR = 3.66;CI 95% = 1.55 - 8.67;p = 0.003), “married.coupled. status (HR = 2.02;CI 95% = 1.24 - 3.31;p = 0.005) and.normal weight at the start of d.alysis (OR = 9.59, CI95% = 4.19 - 21.95;p = 0.001) were associated.with the risk of d.ath. Conclusion: Hemod.alysis is performed.in Abid.an on young patients. The mortality rate after three years of d.alysis is very high. Hence the need.to pursue the policy of d.centralizing public centres and.optimizing access to d.alysis in terms of quality and.quantity in ord.r to improve patient survival.
