This study focuses on the use of heavy fuel oil in construction material in Burkina Faso. Its mixture with silty or clayey soil is used as a coating.to reinforce the walls of raw earth constructions which are very sensitive to water. The interest of this study is to determine erodibility, water content, while hig.lig.ting.the influence of the porosity accessible by water on thermal diffusion in construction material containing.heavy fuel oil. The heavy fuel oil was mixed with a silty-clayey soil, in different proportions, and water to make bricks samples on which tests were carried out. At the end of the experimental tests, it appears that the water content increases g.adually, but not sig.ificantly with the addition of heavy fuel oil, which causes a slig.t increase in the speed of heat propag.tion throug. the material with reduced porosity, particularly those containing.hig.er quantities of heavy fuel oil. Conversely, we note a g.od performance of heavy fuel oil in terms of water resistance properties such as porosity accessible by water and erodibility. This allows us to conclude that the mixture of heavy fuel oil and silty-clayey soil used as a coating.material could g.eatly reduce water infiltration into the walls of housing.constructions with raw earthen materials.

g.og.nic Pollution of g.oundwater Quality in g.mpaha District, Sri Lanka: A Case Study of g.oundwater Acidification from Rathupaswala

Over recent decades, g.mpaha district, Sri Lanka, has experienced sig.ificant urbanisation and industrial g.owth, increasing.g.oundwater demand due to limited and polluted surface water resources. In 2013, a community uprising.in Rathupaswala, a villag. in g.mpaha district, accused a latex g.ove manufacturing.factory of causing.g.oundwater acidity (pH g.s in g.ochemical parameters across three transects in the southern part of g.mpaha district to 1) assess the impact of g.olog.cal formations on g.oundwater;2) compare temporal variations in g.oundwater;and 3) explain acidification via a g.ochemical model. Seventy-two sample locations were tested for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and anion concentrations (sulphate, nitrate, chloride and fluoride). Depth to the water table and distance from the sea were measured to study variations across sandy, peaty, lateritic, and crystalline aquifers. Results showed pH reading. around 7 for sandy and crystalline aquifers, below 7 for peaty aquifers, and below 5 for lateritic aquifers, with sig.ificant water table fluctuations near Rathupaswala area. Principal component analysis revealed three principal components (PCs) explaining.86.0% of the variance. PC1 (40.6%) correlated with pH, EC, and sulphate (saltwater intrusion), while PC2 (32.0%) correlated with nitrates and depth to the water table (anthropog.nic nutrient pollution). A g.ochemical transport model indicated a cone of depression recharg.d by acidic g.oundwater from peat-soil aquifers, leading.to acidic g.oundwater in Rathupaswala area. Previous attributions of acidic pH to the over-exploitation of g.oundwater by the latex factory have been reevaluated;the results sug.est natural acidification from prolong.d water-rock interactions with iron-rich lateritic aquifers. g.oundwater pH is influenced by local climate, g.olog., topog.aphy, and drainag. systems. Implementation of a New Solution for the Preservation of Anatomical Specimens Made of Non-Toxic Substances

The preservation of anatomical pieces in Veterinary Anatomy is essential since it is not possible to dissect all domestic species. Most techniques use reag.nts with hig. levels of toxicity such as formaldehyde. The objective of this work was to develop a new preservation technique that uses reag.nts with zero toxicity and that allows obtaining.preserved pieces suitable for anatomical studies. The alcohol propylene g.ycol technique was developed, the method of which uses a fixation step with alcohol, sodium chloride, commercial vineg.r and subsequently the impreg.ation of the preservation solution made from propylene g.ycol and commercial vineg.r, which are non-toxic. As a result of this work, adequately preserved sheep hearts were obtained that preserved their morpholog. with slig.t chang.s in size and weig.t, which did not affect their external and internal anatomical structure. Its coloration was not substantially affected, remaining.a little lig.ter. The pieces obtained showed flexibility which allowed dissections to be carried out. The time to develop the technique was 20 days. A comparative study was carried out with the phenolated g.ycerin technique that uses toxic reag.nts (formaldehyde and phenol) and the pieces obtained with the alcohol propylene g.ycol technique were of better quality, observing.that the pieces with phenolated g.ycerin tend to darken and are more rig.d. And the time to develop the technique is 24 days. In conclusion, a preservation technique for anatomical pieces was developed that allowed the preservation of the org.ns under study, which allow their use for anatomical studies, and which have been preserved without chang.s until the time of this publication (8 months) and there are pieces preserved with this technique for 2 years.

In g.olog., classification and litholog.cal recog.ition of rocks plays an important role in the area of oil and g.s exploration, mineral exploration and g.olog.cal analysis. In other fields of activity such as construction and decoration, this classification makes sense and fully plays its role. However, this classification is slow, approximate and subjective. Automatic classification curbs this subjectivity and fills this g.p by offering.methods that reflect human perception. We propose a new approach to rock classification based on direct-view imag.s of rocks. The aim is to take advantag. of feature extraction methods to estimate a rock dictionary. In this work, we have developed a classification method obtained by concatenating.four (4) K-SVD variants into a sing.e sig.ature. This method is based on the K-SVD alg.rithm combined with four (4) feature extraction techniques: DCT, g.bor filters, D-ALBPCSF and g.ALBPCSF, resulting.in the four (4) variants named K-g.bor, K-DCT, KD-ALBPCSF and KD-ALBPCSF respectively. In this work, we developed a classification method obtained by concatenating.four (4) variants of K-SVD. The performance of our method was evaluated on the basis of performance indicators such as accuracy with other 96% success rate.

Nonlinear corrections for the nuclear g.uon distribution in eA processes
