Ultrafine bubbles and low doses of gamma irradiation had a positive effect on seed *** research tested the effectiveness of ultrafine bubbles(UFB)water and gamma irradiation for improving the viability and vigor of Albizia chinensis(Osbeck)*** that had been stored for four years.A completely randomized two-factor experiment,i.e.,UFB water and gamma irradiation treatments,were used to determine the best seed *** UFB water treatment had a significant effect on all seed germination parameters;the gamma irradiation treatment did not have a significant effect on improving the viability and vigor of the seeds,with a very low initial germination(11.7%).Soaking the seeds in UFB water for 30 min gave the best germination(51.3%).These improvements also occurred in other germination parameters such as germination rate,germination value,radicle length and vigor *** UFB water treatment has the potential to improve the germination of seeds with low physiological qualities.

The United Nations(UN)’s call for a decade of“ecosystem restoration”was prompted by the need to address the extensive impact of anthropogenic activities on natural *** ecosystem restoration is increasingly necessary due to increasing habitat degredation in deep waters(>200 m depth).At these depths,which are far beyond those accessible by divers,only established and emerging robotic platforms such as remotely operated vehicles(ROVs),autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs),landers,and crawlers can operate through manipulators and multiparametric sensor arrays(e.g.,optoacoustic imaging,omics,and environmental probes).The use of advanced technologies for deep-sea ecosystem restoration can provide:①high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)imaging and acoustic mapping of substrates and key taxa,②physical manipulation of substrates and key taxa,③real-time supervision of remote operations and long-term ecological monitoring,and④the potential to work ***,we describe how robotic platforms with in situ manipulation capabilities and payloads of innovative sensors could autonomously conduct active restoration and monitoring across large spatial *** expect that these devices will be particularly useful in deep-sea habitats,such as①reef-building cold-water corals,②soft-bottom bamboo corals,and③soft-bottom fishery resources that have already been damaged by offshore industries(i.e.,fishing and oil/gas).

Pancreatic cancer is one of the highest and in fact,unchanged mortality-associated tumor,with an exceptionally low survival rate due to its challenging diagnostic *** far,its treatment is based on a combination of approaches(such as surgical resection with or rarely without chemotherapeutic agents),but with finite ***,looking for additional space to improve pancreatic tumorigenesis therapeutic approach,research has focused on gene therapy with unexpectedly growing horizons not only for the treatment of inoperable pancreatic disease,but also for its early *** vivo gene delivery viral vectors,despite few disadvantages(possible immunogenicity,toxicity,mutagenicity,or high cost),could be one of the most efficient cancer gene therapeutic strategies for clinical application due to their superiority compared with other systems(ex vivo delivery strategies).Their dominance consists of simple preparation,easy operation and a wide range of *** are one of the most common used vectors,inducing strong immune as well as inflammatory *** virotherapy,using the above mentioned in vivo viral vectors,is one of the most promising nonpathogenic,highly-selective cytotoxic anti-cancer therapy using anti-cancer agents with high anti-tumor potency and strong oncolytic *** have been a variety of targeted therapeutic and pre-clinical strategies tested for gene therapy in pancreatic cancer such as gene-editing systems(e.g.,clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats-Cas9),RNA interference technology(e.g.,microRNAs,short hairpin RNA or small interfering RNA),adoptive immunotherapy and vaccination(e.g.,chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy)with encouraging results.

The discovery of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, in December 2019 raised global health warnings. Quickly, in 2020, the virus crossed borders and infected individuals across the world, evolving into the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, early signs of the virus’s existence were observed in various countries before the initial outbreak in Wuhan. As of 12th of April, the respiratory disease had infected over 762 million people worldwide, with over 6.8 million deaths recorded. This has led scientists to focus their efforts on understanding the virus to develop effective means to diagnose, treat, prevent, and control this pandemic. One of the areas of focus is the isolation of this virus, which plays a crucial role in understanding the viral dynamics in the laboratory. In this study, we report the isolation and detection of locally circulating SARS-CoV-2 in Kenya. The isolates were cultured on Vero Cercopithecus cell line (CCL-81) cells, RNA extraction was conducted from the supernatants, and reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Genome sequencing was done to profile the strains phylogenetically and identify novel and previously reported mutations. Vero CCL-81 cells were able to support the growth of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro, and mutations were detected from the two isolates sequenced (001 and 002). Genome sequencing revealed the circulation of two isolates that share a close relationship with the Benin isolate with the D614G common mutation identified along the S protein. These virus isolates will be expanded and made available to the Kenya Ministry of Health and other research institutions to advance SARS-CoV-2 research in Kenya and the region.

Objective: To analyze compounds in Eleutherine bulbosa(E. bulbosa)(Mill.) Urb. extract and to determine its antibacterial capability against Vibrio parahaemolyticus(V. parahaemolyticus).Methods: E. bulbosa bulb extract was preprared using 96% ethanol by the maceration method. Phytochemical investigation of E. bulbosa extract was analyzed using GC-MS, spectrophotometry and titrimetry methods. The zone of inhibition was identified by the diffusion agar method. The minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration were determined using the plate count method. The inhibitory rate against V. parahaemolyticus was determined by the microdilution method. Cellular leakage was evaluated by spectrophotometry and cellular damage was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Results: GC-MS analysis showed the high compound of the E. bulbosa extract was securixanthone E(7-hydroxy-1,2-dimethoxyxanthone). The compound groups also included fatty acid esters, isoquinolines, naphthalenes, and phenolics. The total phenolic content was(2.50 ± 0.00) mg/g, flavonoid(6.61 ± 0.00) mg/g, and tannin(0.03 ± 0.00)%. The greatest zone of inhibition and inhibitory rate were(11.83 ± 0.06) mm and(91.32 ± 2.76)%, respectively, at 10 mg/m L. The minimum inhibitory concentration was 0.156 mg/m L, while the minimum bactericidal concentration was 10 mg/m L. The E. bulbosa extract caused leakage and cellular damage to V. parahaemolyticus. Conclusions: The E. bulbosa extract possesses inhibitory activities against V. parahaemolyticus and causes cellular leakage and damage.
