The pharmaceutical industry increasingly values medicinal plants due to their perceived safety and costeffectiveness compared to modern *** the extensive history of medicinal plant usage,various plant parts,including flowers,leaves,and roots,have been acknowledged for their healing properties and employed in plant *** images,however,stand out as the preferred and easily accessible source of *** plant identification by plant taxonomists is intricate,time-consuming,and prone to errors,relying heavily on human *** intelligence(AI)techniques offer a solution by automating plant recognition *** study thoroughly examines cutting-edge AI approaches for leaf image-based plant identification,drawing insights from literature across renowned *** paper critically summarizes relevant literature based on AI algorithms,extracted features,and results ***,it analyzes extensively used datasets in automated plant classification *** also offers deep insights into implemented techniques and methods employed for medicinal plant ***,this rigorous review study discusses opportunities and challenges in employing these AI-based ***,in-depth statistical findings and lessons learned from this survey are highlighted with novel research areas with the aim of offering insights to the readers and motivating new research *** review is expected to serve as a foundational resource for future researchers in the field of AI-based identification of medicinal plants.

Asymptomatic dengue infection in adults of major cities of Pakistan

Objective: To determine the asymptomatic dengue infection in adults of Pakistani ***: This study was conducted in five major cities(Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore,Multan, and Peshawar) of Pakistan.A total of 5 230 adults aged 18 years and above without a history of dengue fever at any point in their life were enrolled from participating *** who were confirmed for dengue previously were *** the total, 62.6%(n = 3 276) were male with an average age of 34.6 *** were briefed about the objectives of the study, and written consent was obtained to perform dengue Ig G test using enzyme linked immunosorbent *** brief information related to age, gender and area was also taken on ***: Overall 32.3%(n = 1 691) was having asymptomatic dengue infection which was 67.5%(n = 756) in Karachi followed by 39.1%(n = 391) in Islamabad, 29.9%(n =316) in Lahore and 21%(n = 228) in Peshawar and none from *** males were affected with asymptomatic dengue infection than *** asymptomatic dengue infection was significantly higher in different cities; however, there was no significant difference with respect to age ***: The asymptomatic dengue infection is higher in cities ***,Islamabad and Lahore which are at risk of developing secondary dengue *** is a need of awareness among the public about secondary dengue infection.

Influence of nitrogen and sulfur fertilization on quality of canola(Brassica napus L.) under rainfed conditions

Field experiments were conducted at Cereal Crops Research Institute, Pirsabak, Nowshera, Pakistan, during winter 2003～2004; 2004～2005 to evaluate the effect of nitrogen; sulfur levels; methods of nitrogen application on canola (Brassica napus L. cv. Bulbul-98) under rainfed conditions. Four levels of S (0, 10, 20,; 30 kg/ha); three levels of N (40, 60,; 80 kg/ha); a control treatment with both nutrients at zero level were included in the experiments. Sulfur levels were applied at sowing while N levels were applied by three methods (100% soil application, 90% soil+10% foliar application,; 80% soil +20% foliar application). The experiments were laid out in randomized complete block (RCB) design having four replications. Oil content increased significantly up to 20 kg S/ha but further increase in S level did not enhance oil content. Glucosinolate content increased from 13.6 to 24.6 μmol/g as S rate was increased from 0 to 30 kg/ha. Protein content increased from 22.4% to 23.2% as S rate was increased from 0 to 20 kg/ha. Oil content responded negatively to the increasing N levels. The highest N level resulted in the highest values for protein (23.5%); glucosinolate (19.9 μmol/g) contents. Methods of N application had no significant impact on any parameters under study.

Pneumomediastinum, pneumorachis, subcutaneous emphysema: An unusual complication of leukemia in a child

Pneumorrhachis(PR), or epidural emphysema, denotes the presence of air in the spinal epidural space. It can be associated with a variety of etiologies, including trauma; recent iatrogenic manipulations during surgical, anesthesiological and diagnostic interventions;malignancy and its associated therapy. It usually represents an asymptomatic epiphenomenon but also can be symptomatic by itself, as well as by its underlying pathology, and rarely can be fatal. The pathogenesis and etiology of PR are varied and can sometimes be a diagnostic challenge. As such, there are no standard guidelines for the management of symptomatic PR and its treatment is often individualized. Here, we present a case of a 14-year-old boy treated for leukemia who developed this complication and whether chemotherapy related or not, it proved to be fatal for him. To our knowledge, this is the first case in the literature of this complication with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Congestion control is one of the main obstacles in cyberspace *** in internet traffic may cause several problems;such as high packet hold-up,high packet dropping,and low packet *** the course of data transmission for various applications in the Internet of things,such problems are usually generated relative to the *** tackle such problems,this paper presents an analytical model using an optimized Random Early Detection(RED)algorithm-based approach for internet traffic *** validity of the proposed model is checked through extensive simulation-based *** analysis is observed for different functions on internet *** performance metrics are taken into consideration,namely,the possibility of packet loss,throughput,mean queue length and mean queue *** sets of experiments are observed with varying simulation *** experiments are thoroughly analyzed and the best packet dropping operation with minimum packet loss is identified using the proposed model.

The multifunctional properties of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)make them a powerful platform for unprecedented innovations in a variety of practical *** a result of the surging growth of nanotechnology,nanotubes present a potential problem as an environmental pollutant,and as such,an efficient method for their rapid detection must be ***,we propose a novel type of ionic sensor complex for detecting CNTs–an organic dye that responds sensitively and selectively to CNTs with a photoluminescent *** complexes are formed through Coulomb attractions between dye molecules with uncompensated charges and CNTs covered with an ionic surfactant in *** demonstrate that the photoluminescent excitation of the dye can be transferred to the nanotubes,resulting in selective and strong amplification(up to a factor of 6)of the light emission from the excitonic levels of CNTs in the near-infrared spectral range,as experimentally observed via excitation-emission photoluminescence(PL)*** chirality of the nanotubes and the type of ionic surfactant used to disperse the nanotubes both strongly affect the amplification;thus,the complexation provides sensing selectivity towards specific ***,neither similar uncharged dyes nor CNTs covered with neutral surfactant form such *** model organic molecules,we use a family of polymethine dyes with an easily tailorable molecular structure and,consequently,tunable absorbance and PL *** provides us with a versatile tool for the controllable photonic and electronic engineering of an efficient probe for CNT detection.

Impact of climate change on agriculture during winter season over Pakistan

This study has been carried out to investigate the impact of climate change over Pakistan and its surrounding areas (60° - 80°E and 20°- 40° N) during winter seasons (December-February). Variability in three meteorological parameters such as: rainfall;air temperature;and moisture transport, has been investigated. Global Pre- cipitation Climatology Center (GPCC) data for precipitation and National Centre for Environ- mental Prediction (NCEP) reanalysis data for computation of Moisture Flux Convergence (MFC) and temperature have been used for the period of 49 years (1961 to 2009). The study period has been divided into three phases on basis of pre- cipitation anomaly i.e., before climate change scenario (1961-1985), transition period (1986- 1999) and after climate change scenario (2000- 2009).Variability in precipitation has been ob- served in three different ways such as, slightly increase in magnitudes, decrease in rainy days and shifting of precipitation pattern towards south of the country. Moisture transport from the surrounding has decreased with increase in precipitation which is indirectly associated with decreases in mass deposit on the glaciers. In- crease in temperature is more prominent over upper and lower part as compared to the central parts of the country. Uncertainty in precipitation has also been observed. Shift of precipitation over southern parts showed positive impact over agriculture sector. As a result, Rabi crop yield has increased during last decade over southern parts of the country.

Value of multi-disciplinary input into laparoscopic management of rectal cancer-An observational study

AIMTo assess the impact of multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) management in optimising the outcome for rectal cancers. METHODSWe undertook a retrospective review of a prospectively maintained database of patients with rectal cancers (defined as tumours ≤ 15 cm from anal verge) discussed at our MDT between jan 2008 and jan 2011. The data was validated against the national database to ensure completeness of dataset. The clinical course and follow-up data was validated using the institution’s electronic patient records. The data was analysed in terms of frequencies and percentages. Significance of any differences were analysed using χ2 test. A Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed for overall survival and disease free survival. RESULTSFollowing appropriate staging, one hundred and thirty-three patients were suitable for potentially curative resections. Seventy two (54%) were upper rectal cancer (URC) - tumour was > 6 cm from the anal verge and 61 (46%) were lower rectal cancers (LRC) - lower extent of the tumour was palpable ≤ 6 cm. Circumferential resection margin (CRM) appeared threatened on pre-operative MRI in 19/61 (31%) patients with LRC requiring neo-adjuvant therapy (NAT). Of the 133 resections, 118 (89%) were attempted laparoscopically (5% conversion rate). CRM was positive in 9 (6.7%) patients; Median lymph node harvest was 12 (2-37). Major complications occurred in 8 (6%) patients. Median follow-up was 53 mo (0-82). The 90-d mortality was 2 (1.5%). Over the follow-up period, disease related mortality was 11 (8.2%) and overall mortality was 39 (29.3%). Four (3%) patients had local recurrence and 22 (16.5%) patients had distant metastases. CONCLUSIONManagement of rectal cancers can be optimized with multi-disciplinary input to attain acceptable long-term oncological outcomes even when incorporating a laparoscopic approach to rectal cancer resection.

Background Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is associated with metabolic abnormalities linked to critical elements of *** recently administered combined metabolic activators(CMA)to the AD rat model and observed that CMA improves the AD-associated histological parameters in the *** promotes mitochondrial fatty acid uptake from the cytosol,facilitates fatty acid oxidation in the mitochondria,and alleviates oxidative *** Here,we designed a randomised,double-blinded,placebo-controlled phase-II clinical trial and studied the effect of CMA administration on the global metabolism of AD ***-dose CMA included 12.35 g L-serine(61.75%),1 g nicotinamide riboside(5%),2.55 g N-acetyl-L-cysteine(12.75%),and 3.73 g L-carnitine tartrate(18.65%).AD patients received one dose of CMA or placebo daily during the first 28 days and twice daily between day 28 and day *** primary endpoint was the difference in the cognitive function and daily living activity scores between the placebo and the treatment *** secondary aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and tolerability of CMA.A comprehensive plasma metabolome and proteome analysis was also performed to evaluate the efficacy of the CMA in AD *** We showed a significant decrease of AD Assessment Scale-cognitive subscale(ADAS-Cog)score on day 84 vs day 0(P=0.00001,29%improvement)in the CMA ***,there was a significant decline(P=0.0073)in ADAS-Cog scores(improvement of cognitive functions)in the CMA compared to the placebo group in patients with higher ADAS-Cog *** cognitive functions in AD patients were supported by the relevant alterations in the hippocampal volumes and cortical thickness based on imaging ***,the plasma levels of proteins and metabolites associated with NAD+and glutathione metabolism were significantly improved after CMA *** Our results indicate that treatment of AD patients with CMA can lead to enhanced cognit
