The present paper aims at modeling suspended sediment load(SSL) using heuristic data driven methodologies, e.g. Gene Expression Programming(GEP) and Support Vector Machine(SVM) in three successive hydrometric stations of Housatonic River in U.S. The simulations were carried out through local and cross-station data management scenarios to investigate the interrelations between the SSL values of upstream/downstream stations. The available scenarios were applied to predict SSL values using GEP to obtain the best models. Then, the best models were predicted by SVM approach and the obtained results were compared with those of GEP. The comparison of the results revealed that the SVM technique is more capable than the GEP for modeling the SSL through the both local and cross-station data management strategies. Besides, local application seems to be better than cross-station application for modeling SSL. Nevertheless, the cross-station application demonstrated to be a valid methodology for simulating SSL, which would be of interest for the stations with lack of observational data. Also, the prediction capability of conventional Sediment Rating Curve(SRC) method was compared with those of GEPand SVM techniques. The obtained results revealed the superiority of GEP and SVM-based models over the traditional SRC technique in the studied stations.

CoO-CeO2 is reported as a highly efficient and green recyclable catalyst, for the multicomponent synthesis of 4H-benzo[b]pyran derivatives. The catalyst was synthesized by a co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD, BET specific surface area, ESEM and EDS analysis. This synthetic method provides several advantages such as simple work-up procedures, minimal amount of waste generated, short reaction time, and high yields of products.

The design of anode materials with a high specific capacity,high cyclic stability,and superior rate performance is required for the practical applications of sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).In this regard,we introduce in this work a facile,low-cost and scalable method for the synthesis of nanocomposites of amorphous molybdenum sulfide(a-MoS_(x))and hierarchical porous carbon and have systematically investigated their performance for sodium ion *** the synthesis,ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate and thioacetamide are used as molybdenum and sulfur sources,respectively,with abundant corn starch as the carbon source and KOH as an activation agent.A simple pyrolysis of their mixtures leads to the formation of nanocomposites with a-MoS_(x)embedded within a hierarchical porous carbon(MoS_(x)@HPC),which are featured with a high surface area of up to 518.4 m^(2) g^(-1)and hierarchical pores ranging from micropores to *** has also been shown that the annealing of MoS_(x)@HPC results in the formation of crystalline MoS_(2)nanosheets anchored in the hierarchical porous carbon matrix(MoS_(2)@HPC).The as-prepared nanocomposite MoS_(x)@HPC1 at an optimum carbon content of 32 wt%delivers a high specific sodium storage capacity of 599 mAh g^(-1)at 0.2 A g^(-1)and a high-rate performa nce with a retained capacity of 289 mAh g^(-1)at 5 A g^(-1).A comparison of the electrochemical performances of MoS_(x)@HPC and MoS_(2)@HPC demonstrates the superior specific capacity,rate performance,and charge transfer kinetics of the former,highlighting the unique advantageous role of amorphous MoS_(x)relative to crystalline MoS_(2).

The effects of heat treatment on the microstructure of modified cast high chromium high carbon AISI D3 steel were studied. The modified AISI D3 steel was developed by replacing part of chromium with niobium and titanium, in which chromium carbide was partially replaced with MC carbides. The cast samples produced by investment casting were heat treated under different conditions. The microstructures of the samples were studied by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope equipped with EDS analyzer. To determine the optimized homogenizing process, the effects of homogenizing treatment on the microstructure and the morphology of carbides were also studied. The results show that the MC carbides are not changed in shape and amounts during high temperature homogenizing, whereas the M3C carbides are reduced in amount and become semiglobular in shape, and the homogeneity of microstructure is improved.

Aim: To investigate depression, anxiety, PTSD, and insomnia levels among Sudanese citizens after a year has passed since the start of Armed Forces conflict in Sudan. Methods: An online survey was distributed. It is composed of five parts, covering the following areas: 1) sociodemographic data;2) depression assessment;3) generalized anxiety disorder assessment;4) post-traumatic stress disorder assessment;and 5) insomnia assessment. Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 27 was used for data analysis;frequency and percentage were used to describe the qualitative variables. Spearman’s correlation analysis and Chi-square test were used for correlation and association analysis;a P-value equal to or less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The study included 283 participants, primarily female (76.0%), with a mean age of 35.26 ± 6.96 years. The majority of participants were married (50.5%) and had a university level of education (50.2%). At the start of the war, 70.3% of participants were inside the war zones, and at the time of data collection, 73.5% were outside Sudan. The length of stay in the war zone ranged from 1 to 300 days, with a mean of 48.59 ± 70.284 days. Additionally, 63.3% of participants stated that they did not receive any form of mental health intervention, and the remaining did not provide an answer. There was a high prevalence of moderate-severe depression (50.5%), moderate anxiety (35.3%), PTSD (56.5%), and sub-threshold insomnia (53.4%) among the participants. Correlation analyses revealed associations between demographic factors such as sex, age, marital status, and education and mental health issues. Notably, female participants showed a higher prevalence of PTSD (53.0%) compared to male participants (67.6%). Conclusions: There is a substantial impact of war-related trauma on mental health, revealing a high prevalence of moderate-severe depression, moderate anxiety, PTSD, and sub-threshold insomnia among the particip
