Hydrogen,especially the“green hydrogen”based on water electrolysis,is of great importance to build a sustainable society due to its high-energy-density,zero-carbon-emission features,and wide-range ***'s water electrolysis is usually carried out in either low-temperature(700℃)applications,e.g.,solid oxide ***,the low-temperature devices usually suffer from high applied voltages(usually>1.5 V@0.01 A cm^(-2))and high cost;meanwhile,the high-temperature ones have an unsatisfied lifetime partially due to the incompatibility among ***,an intermediate-temperature device,namely,proton ceramic cell(PCC),has been recently *** widely-used air electrode for PCC is based on double O^(2-)/e^(-)conductor or composited O^(2-)/e^(-)-H^(+)conductor,limiting the accessible reaction ***,we designed a single-phase La_(0.8)Sr_(0.2)Co_(1-x)Mn_(x)O_(3-δ)(LSCM)with triple H^(+)/O^(2-)/e^(-)conductivity as the air electrode for ***,the La_(0.8)Sr_(0.2)Co_(0.8)Mn_(0.2)O_(3-δ)(LSCM8282)incorporates 5.8%proton carriers in molar fraction at 400℃,indicating superior proton conducting ***,a high current density of 1580 mA cm^(-2) for hydrogen production(water electrolysis)is achieved at 1.3 V and 650℃,surpassing most low-and high-temperature devices reported so ***,such a PCC can also be operated under a reversible fuel cell mode,with a peak power density of 521 mW cm^(-2) at 650℃.By correlating the electrochemical performances with the hydrated proton concentration of single-phase triple conducting air electrodes in this work and our previous work,a principle for rational design of high-performance PCCs is proposed.

AIM: To evaluate effects of dietary supplementation of sulforaphane(SF)-rich broccoli sprout(BS) extract on hepatic abnormalities in Japanese male ***: In a randomized,placebo-controlled,double blind trial,male participants with fatty liver received either BS capsules containing glucoraphanin [GR; a precursor of SF(n = 24)] or placebo(n = 28) for 2 mo. Liver function markers,serum levels of aspartate and alanine aminotransferases(AST and ALT,respectively) and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase(γ-GTP) and an oxidative stress marker,urinary levels of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine(8-OHd G),were measured and compared in participants before and after the trial period. In an animal model,chronic liver failure was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by successive intraperitoneal injection with N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA) for 4 wk. Concomitantly,rats received AIN-76 diets supplemented with or without BS extract. Thereafter,rats were sacrificed,and their sera and livers were collected to measure serum liver function markers and hepatic levels of thiobarbituric acid reactive substances(TBARS) levels and hepatic glutathione S-transferase(GST) activity,a prototypical phase 2 antioxidant ***: Dietary supplementation with BS extract containing SF precursor GR for 2 mo significantly decreased serum levels of liver function markers,ALT [median(interquartile range),before: 54.0(34.5-79.0) vs after supplementation: 48.5(33.3-65.3) IU/L,P < 0.05] and γ-GTP [before: 51.5(40.8-91.3) vs after: 50.0(37.8-85.3) IU/L,P < 0.05],as well as the alkali phosphatase activity. Placebo showed no significant effects on the markers. The urinary level of 8-OHd G,an established oxidative stress marker,was significantly reduced in participants who had received BS capsules but not the placebo [before: 6.66(5.51-9.03) vs after: 5.49(4.89-6.66) ng/mg-creatinine,P < 0.05]. We attempted to evaluate the history of sentinel node navigation surgery (SNNS), technical aspects, tracers, and clinical applications of SNNS using Infrared Ray Electronic Endoscopes (IREE) combined with Indocyanine Green (ICG). The sentinel lymph node (SLN) is defined as a first lymph node (LN) which receives cancer cells from a primary tumor. Reports on clinical application of SNNS for gastric cancers started to appear since early 2000s. Two prospective multicenter trials of SNNS for gastric cancer have also been accomplished in Japan. Kitagawa et al reported that the endoscopic dual (dye and radioisotope) tracer method for SN biopsy was confirmed acceptable and effective when applied to the early-stage gastric cancer (EGC). We have previously reported the usefulness of SNNS in gastrointestinal cancer using ICG as a tracer, combined with IREE (Olympus Optical, Tokyo, Japan) to detect SLN. LN metastasis rate of EGC is low. Hence, clinical application of SNNS for EGC might lead us to avoid unnecessary LN dissection, which could preserve the patient’s quality of life after operation. The most ideal method of SNNS should allow secure and accurate detection of SLN, and real time observation of lymphatic flow during operation.

The prevalence of neurodegenerative diseases is increasing as human longevity increases. The objective biomarkers that enable the staging and early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases are eagerly anticipated. It has recently become possible to determine pathological changes in the brain without autopsy with the advancement of diffusion magnetic resonance imaging techniques. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging is a robust tool used to evaluate brain microstructural complexity and integrity, axonal order, density, and myelination via the micron-scale displacement of water molecules diffusing in tissues. Diffusion tensor imaging, a type of diffusion magnetic resonance imaging technique is widely utilized in clinical and research settings;however, it has several limitations. To overcome these limitations, cutting-edge diffusion magnetic resonance imaging techniques, such as diffusional kurtosis imaging, neurite orientation dispersion and density imaging, and free water imaging, have been recently proposed and applied to evaluate the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases. This review focused on the main applications, findings, and future directions of advanced diffusion magnetic resonance imaging techniques in patients with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, the first and second most common neurodegenerative diseases, respectively.

A novel Radio On Fiber(ROF) access is proposed and demonstrated which enables the pico-cell Base Station (BS) for high-speed wireless communications to eliminate external electric power supply facilities. We demonstrated 2.4-GHz band radio signal transmission through the BS without external electric power supply. The electrical power used for BS circuit is feeded by optical power over optical fiber from central station.

The Effect of Reflector with Sound-Absorbing Material on Supersonic Jet Noise

This paper describes an experimental work to investigate the effect of a reflector on supersonic jet noise radiated from a convergent-divergent nozzle with a design Mach number *** the present study,a metal reflector and reflectors made of three different sound-absorbing materials(grass wool and polyurethane foam)were employed,and the reflector size was *** measurement is carried out to obtain the acoustic characteristics such as frequency,amplitude of screech tone and overall sound pressure level(OASPL).A high-quality schlieren optical system is used to visualize the detailed structure of supersonic *** results obtained show that the acoustic characteristics of supersonic jet noise are strongly dependent upon the jet pressure ratio and the reflector *** is also found that the reflector with sound-absorbing material reduces the screech tone amplitude by about 5-13dB and the overall sound pressure levels by about 2-5dB,compared with those of the metal reflector.

A compression wave is generated ahead of a high-speed train, while entering a tunnel. This compression wave propa- gates to the tunnel exit and spouts out as a micro pressure wave, causing an exploding sound. In order to estimate the magnitude correctly, the mechanism of the attenuation and distortion of a compression wave propagating along a tunnel must be understood and experimental information on these phenomena is required. An experimental and numerical in- vestigation is carried out to clarify the mechanism of the propagating compression wave in a tube. The final objective of our study is to understand the mechanism of the attenuation and distortion of propagating compression waves in a tun- nel. In the present paper, experimental investigations are carried out on the transition of the unsteady boundary layer induced by a propagating compression wave in a model tunnel by means of a developed laser differential interferometry technique.

This paper presents a novel system for violent scenes detection, which is based on machine learning to handle visual and audio features. MKL （Multiple Kernel Learning） is applied so that multimodality of videos can be maximized. The largest features of our system is that mid-level concepts clustering is proposed and implemented in order to learn mid-level concepts implicitly. By this algorithm, our system does not need manually tagged annotations. The whole system is trained on the dataset from MediaEval 2013 Affect Task and evaluated by its official metric. The obtained results outperformed its best score.

A Study about the Effect of Space Size on the Individual Distance

This study is the design guidelines for the living space with robots. The study can be applied to the architectural planning and focused on the basic environmental primary factor. The authors focused on space size, specifical distance from the wall in the front direction, position, and distance between an individual as factors affecting individual distance. The authors research the distances a small mobile robot moves to a six mats space compared with that toward a distances 5 m or more （space less physical factors）. The following three results were obtained：（1） The individual distance is smaller than 30 cm in both the approach angle in the experiment space of six mats; （2） The distance from the wall in the front increased, and the individual distance between a participant and a robot also increased; （3） In terms of body position, the upright positioning was clarified and the individual distance was small.
