Cardiorespiratory fitness measured with cardiopulmonary exercise testing and mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease:A systematic review and meta-analysis

Background Cardiorespiratory fitness(CRF)is inversely associated with mortality in apparently healthy subjects and in some clinical populations,but evidence for the association between CRF and all-cause and/or cardiovascular disease(CvD)mortality in patients with established CvD is *** study aimed to quantify this *** We searched for prospective cohort studies that measured CRF with cardiopulmonary exercise testing in patients with CvD and that examined all-cause and CvD mortality with at least 6 months of *** hazard ratios(HRs)were calculated using random-effect inverse-variance *** Data were obtained from 21 studies and included 159,352 patients diagnosed with CvD(38.1%female).Pooled HRs for all-cause and CvD mortality comparing the highest *** category of CRF were 0.42(95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.28–0.61)and 0.27(95%CI:0.16–0.48),*** HRs per 1 metabolic equivalent(1-MET)increment were significant for all-cause mortality(HR=0.81;95%CI:0.74–0.88)but not for CvD mortality(HR=0.75;95%CI:0.48–1.18).Coronary artery disease patients with high CRF had a lower risk of all-cause mortality(HR=0.32;95%CI:0.26–0.41)than did their unfit *** 1-MET increase was associated with lower all-cause mortality risk among coronary artery disease patients(HR=0.83;95%CI:0.76–0.91)but not lower among those with heart failure(HR=0.69;95%CI:0.36–1.32).Conclusion A better CRF was associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality and *** study supports the use of CRF as a powerful predictor of mortality in this population.

Waveguide electro-optic modulators based on self-assembled material systems

Fabrication and characterization of electro-optic modulators based on the novel organic electro-optic materials composed of self-assembled superlattices (SAS) were presented, both wet-dipping self-assembly and vapor phase deposition approaches were discussed. Prototype waveguide electro-optic modulators were fabricated using SAS films integrated with low-loss polymeric materials functioning as partial guiding and cladding *** electro-optic thin film materials including DTPT and PEPCOOH grown from the vapor phase were used for fabrication and test of electro-optic prototype modulators. Finally,the EO coefficient of tens of pm/v was obtained,which can sufficiently support high-speed and small size EO modulators.

Objective:Bone metastasis is a clinically important outcome of prostate carcinoma(PC).We focused on the phenotypic and functional characterization of a particularly aggressive phenotype within the androgen-independent bone metastasis-derived PC3 cell *** cells,originated from the spontaneous conversion of a CD44-negative subpopulation,stably express the CD44 v8-10 isoform(CD44 v8-10 pos)and display stem cell-like features and a marked invasive phenotype in vitro that is lost upon CD44 v8-10 ***:Flow cytometry,enzyme-linked immunoassay,immunofluorescence,and Western blot were used for phenotypic and immunologic ***-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and functional assays were used to assess ***:Analysis of epithelial–mesenchymal transition markers showed that CD44 v8-10 pos PC3 cells surprisingly display epithelial phenotype and can undergo osteomimicry,acquiring bone cell phenotypic and behavioral *** of specific si RNA evidenced the ability of CD44 v8-10 variant to confer osteomimetic features,hence the potential to form bone-specific ***,the ability of tumors to activate immunosuppressive mechanisms which counteract effective immune responses is a sign of the aggressiveness of a *** we report that CD44 v8-10 pos cells express programmed death ligand 1,a negative regulator of anticancer immunity,and secrete exceptionally high amounts of interleukin-6,favoring osteoclastogenesis and immunosuppression in bone ***,we identified a novel pathway activated by CD44 v8-10,involving tafazzin(TAZ)and likely the Wnt/TAZ axis,known to play a role in upregulating osteomimetic ***:CD44 v8-10 could represent a marker of a more aggressive bone metastatic PC population exerting a driver role in osteomimicry in bone.A novel link between TAZ and CD44 v8-10 is also shown.

Light losses in hollow, prismatic light guides related to prism defects: a transmittance model

Hollow, cylindrical, prismatic light guides （CPLGs） are optical components that, using total internal reflection （TIR）, are able to transmit high-diameter light beams in daylight and artificial lighting applications without relevant losses. It is necessary to study the prism defects of their surfaces to quantify the behavior of these optical components. In this Letter, we analyze a CPLG made of a transparent dielectric material. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and the topographic optical profilometry by absorption in fluids （TOPAF） imaging tech- nique are conducted to determine if there are defects in the corners of the prisms. A model for light guide trans- mittance that is dependent on prism defects is proposed. Finally, a simulation and an experimental study are carried out to check the validity of the proposed model.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)are plant root symbionts that play key roles in plant growth and soil *** are obligate biotrophic fungi that form coenocytic multinucleated hyphae and *** studies have shown that diverse microorganisms live on the surface of and inside their mycelia,resulting in a metagenome when whole-genome sequencing(WGS)data are obtained from sequencing AMF cultivated in *** metagenome contains not only the AMF sequences,but also those from associated *** this study,we introduce a novel bioinformatics program,Spore-associated Symbiotic Microbes(SeSaMe),designed for taxonomic classification of short sequences obtained by next-generation DNA sequencing.A genus-specific usage bias database was created based on amino acid usage and codon usage of a three consecutive codon DNA 9-mer encoding an amino acid trimer in a protein secondary *** program distinguishes between coding sequence(CDS)and non-CDS,and classifies a query sequence into a genus group out of 54 genera used as *** mean percentages of correct predictions of the CDS and the non-CDS test sets at the genus level were 71% and 50% for bacteria,68% and 73% for fungi(excluding AMF),and 49% and 72% for AMF(Rhizophagus irregularis),*** provides not only a means for estimating taxonomic diversity and abundance but also the gene reservoir of the reference taxonomic groups associated with ***,it enables users to study the symbiotic roles of associated *** can also be applicable to other microorganisms as well as soil *** is freely available at ***.

An innovative inversion code, named “Curupira v1.0”, has been developed using Matlab to determine the vertical distribution of resistivity beneath the subsoil. The program integrates vertical Electrical Sounding (vES), successful in shallow subsurface exploration and Time Domain Electromagnetic (TEM) techniques, better suited for deeper exploration, both of which are widely employed in geophysical exploration. These methodologies involve calculating subsurface resistivity through appropriate inversion processes. To address the ill-posed nature of inverse problems in geophysics, a joint inversion scheme combining vES and TEM data has been incorporated into Curupira v1.0. The software has been tested on both synthetic and real-world data, the latter of which was acquired from the Parana sedimentary basin which we summarise here. The results indicate that the joint inversion of vES and TEM techniques offers improved recovery of simulated models and demonstrates significant potential for hydrogeological studies.

Is device-measured vigorous physical activity associated with health-related outcomes in children and adolescents? A systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective:This study sought to analyze the prospective association between vigorous-intensity physical activity(vPA)and health-related outcomes in children and ***:Studies reporting associations between device-measured vPA and health-related factors in children and adolescents aged 318 years were identified through database searches(MEDLINE,EMBASE,and SPORTDiscus).Correlation coefficients were pooled if outcomes were reported by at least 3 studies,using derSimonian-Laird random effects ***:Data from 23 studies including 13,674 participants were pooled using random effects *** associations were found between vPA at baseline and overall adiposity(r=0.09,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.15 to0.03;p=0.002;I^(2)=89.8%),cardiometabolic risk score(r=0.13,95%CI:0.24 to0.02,p=0.020;I^(2)=69.6%),cardiorespiratory fitness(r=0.25,95%CI:0.150.35;pdensity(r=0.16,95%CI:0.06 to 0.25;p=0.001;I^(2)=0%).Conclusion:vPA seems to be negatively related to adiposity and cardiometabolic risk score and positively related to cardiorespiratory fitness and total body bone mineral density among children and adolescents at ***,our findings support the need to strengthen physical activity recommendations regarding vPA due to its health benefits in children and adolescents.

利用大涡模拟法计算研究甲烷和掺氢燃气在悉尼非均匀入流射流燃烧器上的吹熄极限.利用GRI 3.0详细反应机理和28步、19步简化反应机理对比计算不同掺氢燃气状态下的层流预混火焰,证明了19步简化反应机理具有良好性能.利用动态增厚火焰燃烧模型结合19步反应机理,计算研究以掺氢燃气(体积比v(H_(2))∶v(CH_(4))∶v(CO)∶v(CO_(2))=0.2∶0.2∶0.27∶0.33)为燃料的悉尼部分预混中心射流火焰.计算得到在FA和FJ布局下,掺氢燃气的火焰吹熄极限速度分别为90 m/s和109 m/s,甲烷的火焰吹熄极限速度分别为74 m/s和128 m/s,分析发现吹熄极限的差异与不同布局下燃气与空气混合不均匀程度相关.研究表明,优化燃气与空气的进气布局和掺混过程可以提升燃烧稳定性.
