The use of orthobiologics as a novel therapy for the treatment of numerous musculoskeletal disorders has increased considerably over the past ***,there are multiple alternatives available as suitable treatments;however,the use of autologous blood-derived products such as platelet-rich plasma(PRP),bone marrow aspirate(BMA)and BMA concentrate(BMAC),specifically,is *** many investigations attempted to demonstrate the effectiveness of these therapies,even with positive results,the literature lacks standardized protocols and overall accuracy in study designs,which leads to variance and difficulty in reproducibility of *** efficacy of PRP for the treatment of cartilage,bone and muscle tissues is well *** BMAC has generated optimistic results for the same purposes,its applicability in clinical trials is still relatively recent when compared to *** products demonstrate the potential to set forth reparative processes,each in their own distinct *** combination of these biological products has been previously proposed,yet little is known about their *** indicates that growth factor,cytokine,and chemokine profiles seen in both PRP and BMAC vary but are likely to work synergistically to enhance musculoskeletal *** products seem to work well without PRP;however,the addition of PRP to BMAC has been shown to act as a rich and natural source of culture medium for stem cells located either peripherally or in the bone marrow ***,additional variables associated with the use of BMAC and PRP in orthopedics must be further evaluated in order to consolidate the efficacy of this therapeutic strategy.

Ni-based catalysts obtained from perovskites oxides for ethanol steam reforming

Perovskites as host structures of cations were used in order to generate in situ active and stable catalysts for ethanol steam reforming. for this purpose,La_(1-x)Mg_xAl_(1-y)Ni_yO_3(x = 0.1; y = 0,0.1,0.2,0.3) perovskites were synthetized by the citrate *** segregation is evident for a substitution level higher than 0. 2. The segregation of Ni as NiO generated species interacts with different metal-support after the reduction step. The y = 0.1 catalyst presents the highest H_2 yield value about 85% during reaction time,with low mean values of CH_4 and CO selectivities of 3.4% and 11%,respectively and a low carbon formation. The better performance of y = 0.1 catalyst could be attributed to the minor proportion of segregated phases,thus a controlled expulsion of Ni is successfully reached.

Severe Acute Hepatitis of Unknown Origin in Children: What Do We Know Today?

In May 2022, the UK International Health Regulations National focal Point notified World Health Organization of 176 cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in children under 10 years of age. from that moment on, cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown origin in children began to be reported in several countries. As of June 17, 2022, a total of 991 cases had been reported in 35 countries worldwide, 50 children needed a liver transplant and 28 patients died. According to information published by ECDC, 449 cases have been detected in 21 EU countries. The children were between 1 month and 16 years of age. Adenovirus was detected in 62.2% of the analyzed samples. So far, the cause of these cases is unknown and many hypotheses remain open, but hepatitis A-E viruses and COVID-19 vaccines have been ruled out. A possible hypothesis has been published to explain the cause of these cases of severe hepatitis, according to which it could be a consequence of adenovirus infection in the intestine in healthy children previously infected with SARS-CoV-2. No other clear epidemiological risk factors have been identified to date. Thus, at this time, the etiology of the current cases of hepatitis remains under active investigation.

Pan-enteric dysmotility,impaired quality of life and alexithymia in a large group of patients meeting ROMEⅡ criteria for irritable bowel syndrome

AIM:Psychological factors, altered motility and sensation disorders of the intestine can be variably associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Such aspects have not been investigated simultaneously. The aim of this paper was to evaluate gastrointestinal motility and symptoms, psychological spectrum and quality of life in a large group of IBS patients in southern ***: One hundred IBS patients (f:M=73:27, age 48±2 years, mean±SE) fulfilling ROME Ⅱ criteria matched with 100 healthy subjects (f:M=70:30, 45±2 years). Dyspepsia,bowel habit, alexithymia, psycho-affective profile and quality of life were assessed using specific questionnaires. Basally and postprandially, changes in gallbladder volumes and antral areas after liquid meal and orocaecal transit time (OCTT)were measured respectively by ultrasonography and H2-breath test. Appetite, satiety, fullness, nausea, and epigastric pain/discomfort were monitored using visual-analogue ***: Compared with controls, IBS patients had increased dyspepsia (score 12.6±0.7 VS 5.1±0.2, P＜0.0001),weekly bowel movements (12.3±0.4 VS 5.5±0.2, P＜0.00001, comparable stool shape), alexithymia (score 59.11.1 VS40.5±1.0, P=0.001), poor quality of life and psychoaffective profile. IBS patients had normal gallbladderemptying, but delayed gastric emptying (T50:35.5±1.0 VS 26.1±0.6 min, P=0.00001) and OCTT (163.0±5.4 VS96.6±1.8min, P=0.00001). fullness, nausea, and epigastric pain/discomfort were greater in IBS than in ***: ROME Ⅱ IBS patients have a pan-enteric dysmotility with frequent dyspepsia, associated with psychological morbidity and greatly impaired quality of *** presence of alexithymia, a stable trait, is a novel finding of potential interest to detect subgroups of IBS patients with different patterns recoveed after therapy.

Extrahepatic right hepatic duct diverticulum: a rare entity

BACKGROUND:Douglas described choledochal cysts in 1852 and Todani proposed an anatomy-based classification in 1977. The classification is the most extensively used,but does not include some rare *** present a case of hepatic duct diverticulum,one of the variations,and discuss its diagnosis and treatment. METHODS:A 57-year-old woman presented with upper abdominal pain and discomfort associated with nausea and *** was finally diagnosed with cholelithiasis and right hepatic duct diverticulum. RESULT:The patient underwent resection of the hepatic duct diverticulum and cholecystectomy,and was asymptomatic 26 months after surgery. CONCLUSIONS:Hepatic duct diverticulum is a rare form of choledochal cyst,not included in Todani’s classification. Todani’s classification including this and other uncommon variations of choledochal cysts must be *** best diagnostic imaging methods and treatment for choledochal cysts must be defined.

Two distinct lignocellulosic fractions(rind and core)can be obtained through a physical separation of sugarcane *** presenting differences in morphology,both fractions can be employed to produce pulps and *** pulps and paper sheets produced from the core and rind fractions were characterized by their chemical composition,physical properties and mechanical *** pulps obtained from the core presented a higher amount of fines,lower drainage ability and rendered denser and stiffer *** pulps from the rind,which have a higher content of fibers and higher degree of polymerization,produced sheets with higher air permeability and water *** paper sheets presented mechanical and physical properties comparable to commercial papers and papers from different cellulosic *** different properties exhibited by the papers produced from each fraction allow their use for distinct purposes,and expands the opportunities in the context of sugarcane biorefinery.

Long-term results of subtotal colectomy with cecorectal anastomosis for isolated colonic inertia

AIM： To evaluate the results of sub total colectomy withI cecorectal anastomosis （STC-CRA） for isolated colonicinertia （CI）. METHODS： fourteen patients （mean age 57.5±16.5 year） underwent surgery for isolated CI between January 1986 and December 2002. The mean frequency of bowel motions with the aid of laxatives was 1.2±0.6 per week. All subjects underwent colonoscopy, anorectal manometry, cinedefaecography and colonic transit time （CTf）. CI was defined as diffuse markers delay on CTf without evidence of pelvic floor dysfunction. All patients underwent STC-CRA. Long-term follow-up was obtained prospectively by clinical visits between October 2005 and february 2006 at a mean of 10.5 ＋ 3.6 years （range 5-16 years） during which we considered the number of stool emissions, the presence of abdominal pain or digitations, the use of pain killers, laxatives and/or fibers. Patients were also asked if they were satisfied with the surgery. RESULTS： There was no postoperative mortality Postoperative complications occurred in 21.4% （3/14）. At the end of follow-up, bowel frequency was significantly （P〈0.05）increased to a mean of 4.8±7.5 per day （range 1-30）. One patient reported disabling diarrhea. Two patients used laxatives less than three times per month without complaining of what they called constipation Overall, 78.5% of patients would have chosen surgery again if necessary. CONCLUSION： STC-CRA is feasible and safe in patients with CI achieving 79% of success at a mean follow-up of 10.5 years. A prospective controlled evaluation is warranted to verify the advantages of this surgical approach in patients with CI.

Toward Establishing the Productive Chain for Triterpene-Based Amazonian Oleoresins as Valuable Non-Timber forest Products

In the Amazonian rainforest, many species of Burseraceae known locally as “breu” are explored for the medicinal and aromatic uses of their trunk exudates. This material also has a long-standing use by the forest communities in building and caulking boats as well as in the making of wooden utensils and general crafts. Breu are strongly aromatic due volatile terpenes in their composition that are separated from the crude resin by steam distillation. The remaining residue amorphous “hard resin” is primary used for application in woodworking. Despite the potential for application in paints, varnishes and odor fixatives, the commercialization of the hard resin has not surpassed the local market level. In order to achieve and establish a more valorized market for this Amazonian non-timber forest product, the existing and potential demands need to be estimated, a draft of the production chain needs to be drawn up and care needs to be taken to provide products of the highest possible quality. This study aimed to identify and organize the main issues necessary for the attainment of these goals and its value chain, and identify the technologies that would improve the quality of the Amazonian breu as a raw material. A review of the data available in the literature and the analytical techniques that could be applied to generate standards for the extraction, purification, and analysis of the hard resin fraction was made. Quality issues based on physicochemical standards might affect the productive chain by: i) helping to consolidate the appropriate methodologies for collecting and storing the raw material;ii) adding value and qualifying the primary improvement processes and iii) supporting the certification of the raw materials for commercialization. Potentiate this material to reach high-level markets might boost the production demand and improve the rain forest communities’ income.

Plant growth and nutrient use efficiency of two native fabaceae species for mineland revegetation in the eastern Amazon
