This work aimed at characterizing the Weissella cibaria strains isolated from Campos das Vertentes,Minas Gerais,Brazil and their antimicrobial ***,three strains of ***(W21,W25 and W42)were previously selected,and the genomes of W21 and W42 were sequenced,while that of strain W25 was already sequenced and ***,we investigated the presence of genes coding for potential secondary metabolites in the genomes of the strains using the AntiSmash webtool,and located a common region coding for a putative bacteriocin identified as Bacteriocin_***,we assessed in vitro this antimicrobial activity using the supernatant of these *** to the data,the strain W21,which has one transport-related gene missing from the bacteriocin operon compared to W25 and W42,likewise showed no differences in the in vitro antimicrobial test when comparing the outcomes of the three treatments(supernatant without treatment,neutralized and treated with proteinase K).Also,we compared the nucleotides and amino acids of this putative bacteriocin in the NCBI platform and there was no similarity with other so far described bacteriocin from the genus *** conclusion,two of the three Weissella strains tested in this work have the potential to produce a new bacteriocin not yet described which needs to be deeply characterized and proposed for food protection as alternatives to chemicals in foods.

Cloud computing is a very promising paradigm of service-oriented computing. One major benefit of cloud computing is its elasticity, i.e., the system＇s capacity to provide and remove resources automatically at runtime. For that, it is essential to design and implement an efficient and effective technique that takes full advantage of the system＇s potential flexibility. This paper presents a non-intrusive approach that monitors the performance of relational database management systems in a cloud infrastructure, and automatically makes decisions to maximize the efficiency of the provider＇s environment while still satisfying agreed upon ＂service level agreements＂（SLAs）. Our experiments conducted on Amazon＇s cloud infrastructure, confirm that our technique is capable of automatically and dynamically adjusting the system＇s allocated resources observing the SLA.

The aim of this work was to evaluate arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi as soil indicators and the mycorrhization of native and exotic tree species planted in the Acaraúbasin,a transition area from the coast to the Brazilian semiarid *** with 6-year-old trees of four native and three non-native species as well as one non-forested area were evaluated in terms of the diversity of AM fungi in the mycorrhizosphere and the root colonization by AM and ectomycorrhizal(EcM)***-four AM fungi were identified;Claroideoglomus etunicatum,Glomus sinuosum,Paraglomus albidum,Acaulospora laevis,and Acaulospora brasiliensis were abundant in the forest ***,dominance,evenness and richness indices of AM fungi were higher in plots with native *** root samples were colonized by AM fungi and only A nadenanthera colubrina,Acacia mangium,Casuarina equisetifolia and Eucalyptus urophylla formed associations with EcM *** morphotypes served as soil indicators for coverings with the native species Astronium fraxinifolium and Colubrina *** species may favor the proliferation of rarer AM *** fungi–plant relationships may be important in the management of forest systems,and the evidence with mycorrhizal associations allows the inclusion of Brazilian species in tropical reforestation.

Dear Editor, Phosphorus (P) deficiency is the most limiting factor in tropical agriculture since most soils in this region are predominantly acids with high-energy P-binding compounds. Therefore, up to 90% of the P applied becomes fixed in soils, which raises environmental concerns and production costs (Syers et al., 2008). Thus, developing strategies to imptove P use efficiency (PUE) is essential to mitigate environmental problems and improve profits. These strategies should consider the soil-root-rhizosphere system because it is the most biochemical active site where nutrient uptake occurs (Hinsinger, 2011).

Modified substrates as outer heterogeneous catalysts was employed to reduce the soot generated from incomplete combustion of diesel or diesel/biodiesel blends, a process that harms the environment and public health. The unique storage properties of ceria （CeO2） makes it one of the most efficient catalysts available to date. Here, we proposed that ceria-based catalysts can lower the temperature at which soot combustion occurs; more specifically, from 610℃ to values included in the diesel exhausts operation range （300-450℃）. The sol-gel method was used to synthesize mixed oxide-based catalysts （CeO2：ZnO）; the resulting catalysts were deposited onto cordierite substrates. In addition, the morphological and structural properties of the material were evaluated by XRD, BET, TPR-H2, and SEM. Thermogravimetric （TG/DTA） analysis revealed that the presence of the catalyst decreased the soot combustion temperature by 200℃ on average, indicating that the oxygen species arise at low temperatures in this situation, promoting highly reactive oxidation reactions. Comparative analysis of soot emission by diffuse reflectance spectroscopy （DRS） showed that catalyst-impregnated cordierite samples efficiently oxidized soot in a diesel/biodiesel stationary motor： soot emission decreased by more than 70%.

Dry matter production and productivity of stem currently are being widely studied in sugarcane, reinforcing the study in question, which aims to assess the accumulation of dry matter of the aerial segment and the productivity of stems of sugarcane crops within the first cycle, at different levels of water replacement (WR) with and without nitrogen fertilization, through a subsurface drip irrigation system. The assay was conducted in the experimental area of the Federal Institut Goiano, Campus Rio Verde, GO, Brazil, in a dystroferric Rhodic Hapludox soil, cerrado phase (savannah), and comprised experimental splits of three furrows with an 8-meter long double row. Experimental design consisted of randomized blocks in a 5 × 2 factorial array, with four replications. Evaluated factors comprised five levels of WR (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0% of field capacity), with and without the application of nitrogen (0 and 100 kg·ha-1 urea). Harvest occurred in May 2013 and stem productivity (SP), productivity of pointers (PP), productivity of straw (PS), harvest index (HI), dry matter of stem (DMS), dry matter of pointers (DMP), the relationship between dry matter of pointer and dry matter of stem (DMP/DMS) and total dry matter of the aerial segment (TDM) were determined. The variables SP, PP, DMS and DMP had a linear growth in proportion to WR increase, whereas HI and DMP/DMS adjusted to a quadratic model. Nitrogen fertilization affected positively the variables SP, HI, DMS and DMP/DMS and occurred interaction to TDM;also increasing the productivity stem and the harvest index.

Bifurcaria bifurcata is a seaweed of the Order Fucales(Ochrophyta,Phaeophyceae)that can be found all year round along the Portuguese Atlantic *** it is considered edible in some countries,its biotechnological potential has not yet been assessed in detail and here we report its antimicrobial potential against human dermatophyte *** samples were harvested from Baleal Island(Peniche,Portugal)harvested in winter(BbPe);from Aguda Beach(Arcozelo,Vila Nova de Gaia,Portugal),harvested in autumn(BbAg)and a sample obtained by culturing the Aguda sample under laboratory conditions(BbLC).A broth macrodilution assay was applied to determine the MIC(minimum inhibitory concentration)and MLC(minimum lethal concentration)of the *** *** show that the BbPe MeOH extracts were the most effective and had higher antifungal activity against all the tested dermatophyte strains than the BbLC and BaAg extracts[Epidermophyton floccosum FF9(100–200μg/mL MIC;200μg/mL MLC),Microsporum canis FF1(400μg/mL MIC;≥400μg/mL MLC),Trichophyton mentagrophytes FF7(100μg/mL MIC;>800μg/mL MLC),*** CECT 2908(800μg/mL MIC;≥800μg/mL MLC),*** *** CECT 2958(800μg/mL MIC;≥800μg/mL MLC),*** CECT 2794(200μg/mL MIC;≥400μg/mL MLC)].In fact,only *** FF9 was sensitive to BbAg and BbLC MeOH *** our knowledge,this is the first report of antifungal activity of *** against human dermatophyte fungi.

Broiler flock welfare is usually assessed through mortality,physiology,behavior,and walk-ing *** possibility of assessing broiler chicken lameness using the bird walking abil-ity was investigated using the machine learning approach for the first *** on broiler walking speed and acceleration,genetic strain,and sex were recorded and input in a *** were classified according to the 6-point gait score(GS0 is a sound bird,and GS5 is a severely lame bird).Decision trees were built initially using all *** confusion matrix of each developed model was *** pruning technique was used,removing from the dataset the variables that did not infer in the classification *** reorganized the dataset and re-arranged the data by grouping the intermediate target class of gait score using the Borda Count ***-processing data,we obtained a new set of decision *** the 3-point gait score(GS0 is a sound bird,and GS2 is a lame bird),we obtained a new model with better accuracy(78%);however,the model had a lower accuracy for classifying lame broilers(GS2,5%).The final decision tree was selected for classifying broilers,either sound or lame,according to their walking *** developed model presented good accuracy(91%),and it ordered properly sound(86%)and lame birds(92%).The novel model might be used to assess broiler lameness on-farm by registering the bird displacement *** developments using the model might allow flock lameness detection automatically.
