Parkinson’s disease(PD,OMIM#168600)is a common neurodegenerative disorder with a global prevalence of approximately 8.5 *** is characterized by four cardinal motor symptoms:bradykinesia,rigidity,resting tremor,and subsequently by postural *** usually involves non-motor symptoms such as rapid eye movement sleep disorder,dementia,anosmia,and autonomic *** gene glucocerebrosidase 1(GBA1),which encodes the lysosomal enzyme glucocerebrosidase(GCase)(IUBMB:EC 3.***.1.45),shows strong linkage with PD;variants of GBA1 are the commonest genetic association with PD(sidransky et al.,2009).several mechanisms may underlie the relationship between GBA1 mutations/variants and the molecular pathology of PD(Figure 1A and B).

Investigation that protein oxidation to the formation of advanced glycation end products(AGEs)after chicken myofibrillar protein glycation is *** of protein oxidation induced by different concentrations of hydroxyl radicals(·OH)were developed after the chicken myofibrillar protein mild glycation(MPG).Results exhibited that levels of AGEs and surface hydrophobicity(H_(0))steadily increased with the a ddition of h ydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))***,levels of s ulfhydryl group,free amino group,and particle size gradually decreased with the H_(2)O_(2)*** protein carbonyl value increased in H_(2)O_(2)concentration until 10 mmol/***'s correlation indicated that MPG structure modification(unfolding and degradation)induced by protein oxidation were significantly positively correlated with AGEs concentration(Psm was proposed to hypothesize t he effect of protein oxidation on the formation of AGEs under MPG conditions.

This paper highlights how returnees and knowledge diaspora are important sources for China’s human resources development,identifying push and pull factors that also contribute significantly to innovation in the higher education *** outlining China’s key projects and schemes for recruiting international professional workers,the paper argues that bringing advanced knowledge and skills back to a country of origin through international education and experiences is neither new,nor limited to *** the same time,the rise of a large,worldwide Chinese knowledge diaspora is now of global importance in promoting transnational scientific and business networks that underpin both research and development,and the quest for world-class ***’s size and weight,its determination to boost development and improve its higher education system,as well as the willingness of both diaspora and returnees to contribute,constitute its ***,there remain limitations to its success,notably a lack of high-quality research,reservations regarding new ideas,low awareness of international collaborations,too much attention given to material rewards and quick results,corruption,and too many administrative controls and government regulations.

While ecclesiastic and state authorities in Europe largely abolished medieval cults of saints because of their ＂heterodoxy,＂ late-imperial and modern Chinese Catholic communities in shanxi still promulgate local cults dedicated to women and men who are believed to have performed posthumous miracles or who represent heroic virtue. Although constrained beneath the scrutiny of imperial, ecclesial, and modern political ideas of ＂orthodoxy＂ and ＂heterodoxy,＂ two shanxi Catholic villages, Dongergou and Liangquandao （Liuhecun）, have managed to preserve and promote sister Maria Assunta Pallotta and Father Wang shiwei as contemporary versions of traditional local cults. One of the manifest characteristics of these two Chinese Catholic local cults is how they have been transformed by traditional Daoist cults and have successfully survived in a liminal space between ＂orthodox＂ and ＂heterodox.＂ Relying on archival materials from the former Taiyuan Catholic Diocese Archive, records held in Roman archives, and oral testimonies, intricate patterns of accommodation and resistance to political and church authorities can be discerned as means for these remote Catholic villages to construct identity and cultivate social cohesion.

A pegged exchange rate regime has been pivotal to China＇s export-led development strategy. However, its huge trade surpluses and massive build up of international reserves have been matched by large deficits for major trading partners, creating acute policy concerns abroad, especially in the UsA. This paper provides a straighOeorward conceptual framework for interpreting the effect of China＇s exchange rate policy on its own trade balance and that of trading partners in the context of discrepant economic growth rates. It shows how pegging the exchange rate when output is outstripping expenditure induces China＇ s trade surpluses and counterpart deficits for its trading partners. An important corollary is that given its strictly regulated capital account, China＇s persistently large surpluses imply a significantly undervalued renminbi, which should gradually become more flexible.

Along with China’s economic growth,the notable rise of its universities and innovation system has inspired growing interest in how the higher education institutions(HEIs)of the European Union(EU)cooperate with Chinese *** with a review of China-EU higher education relations,this paper presents a case study of a sino-Danish collaborative programme in which cooperation and programme quality were limited by both partners’different aims over time,and their alternate quality assurance *** suggest a proper collaborative level and discipline should be developed before the establishment of cooperation by taking relevant policies,merits and disadvantages of both partners,into *** paper also points out that limits in collaboration can be alleviated,if a number of elements can be used effectively,such as China’s significant EU knowledge *** this and other listed factors,including favorable policies introduced by the Chinese government,there are substantial prospects for extending China-EU collaborative relations and exchanges.

As the widely implemented electrode material,graphite has the characteristic of sublimation by the thermal shock of the switching arc,and the produced carbon vapor is easy to condense into carbon powders and deposit in the *** impact of the type of dilution gas in a mixture of20%oxygen and 80%dilution gas on the sublimation and oxidation characteristics of the graphite electrode is *** is found that when nitrogen dilution gas was replaced by argon,the heat flux to the electrodes decreased,which led to a 63%reduction of graphite *** the same time,the cooling rate of the arc was slower in argon,which promotes oxidation of the carbon *** residual solid carbon can be reduced by 70%–85%by using argon as the dilution ***,it is demonstrated that the stability and working life of the switch could be increased by appropriate selection of the dilution gas.

AIM: To assess the effects of ischemic preconditioning(IPC, 10-min ischemia/10-min reperfusion) on steatotic liver mitochondrial function after normothermic ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI).METHODs: sixty male sprague-Dawley rats were fed8-wk with either control chow or high-fat/high-sucrose diet inducing > 60% mixed steatosis. Three groups(n = 10/group) for each dietary state were tested:(1) the IRI group underwent 60 min partial hepatic ischemia and 4 h reperfusion;(2) the IPC group underwent IPC prior to same standard IRI; and(3) sham underwent t h e s a m e s u r g e r y w i t h o u t I R I o r I P C. H e p a t i c mitochondrial function was analyzed by oxygraphs. Mitochondrial Complex-Ⅰ, Complex-Ⅱ enzyme activity, serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT), and histological injury were ***: steatotic-IRI livers had a greater increase in ALT(2476 ± 166 vs 1457 ± 103 IU/L, P stological injury following IRI compared to the lean liver group. steatotic-IRI demonstrated lower Complex-Ⅰ?activity at baseline [78.4 ± 2.5 vs 116.4 ± 6.0 nmol/(*** protein), P s 104.3 ± 12.6 nmol/(*** protein), P steatotic-IRI also demonstrated impaired Complex-Ⅰ?function post-IRI compared to the lean liver IRI group. Complex-Ⅱ activity was unaffected by hepatic steatosis or IRI. Lean liver mitochondrial function was unchanged following IRI. IPC normalized ALT and histological injury in steatotic livers but had no effect on overall steatotic liver mitochondrial function or individual mitochondrial complex enzyme activities. CONCLUsION: Warm IRI impairs steatotic liver Complex-Ⅰ?activity and function. The protective effects of IPC in steatotic livers may not be mediated through mitochondria.
