Ohio solid organ transplantation consortium criteria for liver transplantation in patients with alcoholic liver disease

AIM To evaluate risk of recidivism on a case-by-case *** From our center's liver transplant program,we selected patients with alcoholic liver disease who were listed for transplant based on Ohio Solid Organ Transplantation Consortium(OSOTC) exception *** were considered to have either a low or medium risk of recidivism,and had at least one or three or more months of abstinence,*** were matched based on gender,age,and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease(MELD) score to controls with alcohol-induced cirrhosis from Organ Procurement and Transplant Network *** Thirty six patients with alcoholic liver disease were approved for listing based on OSOTC exception criteria and were matched to 72 *** patients(53%) with a median [Inter-quartile range(IQR)] MELD score of 24(13) received transplant and were followed for a median of 3.4 *** were matched to 38 controls with a median(IQR) MELD score of 25(9).At one and five years,cumulative survival rates(± standard error) were 90% ± 7% and 92% ± 5% and 73% ± 12% and 77% ± 8% in patients and controls,respectively(Log-rank test,P = 0.837).Four(21%) patients resumed drinking by last follow-up *** Compared to traditional criteria for assessment of risk of recidivism,a careful selection process with more flexibility to evaluate eligibility on a case-by-case basis can lead to similar survival rates after transplantation.

Background: Sexual health needs are insufficiently met for persons living with rheumatological diseases and it is necessary to create better ways to meet these needs. Objective: To co-create a working model to improve sexual health for persons living with rheumatological diseases, that can be used by rheumatological teams in regular rheumatology practice. Design: This study applied a co-creation design with three key features: 1) it took a systems perspective with emergent multiple interactive entities;2) the research process was viewed as a creative endeavour with strong links to design, while human imagination and the individual experience of patient and staff were at the core of the creative design effort;3) the process of the co-creative efforts was as important as the generated product. Evaluation of climate and forecast mode simulations of the regional climate model HIRHAM over a pan-Antarctic domain is presented. The improved skill of the permanent re- initialization during the forecast mode simulations is quantified for the temperature- and wind fields, exemplarily for the Davis station during the two extreme months of the annual cycle of 2007. In July, the forecast mode improved the temperature simulation largely at near surface/low troposphere. Differently in January, the frequent re-initialization could not improve much the temperature bias at the near surface/lower troposphere. That is an indication that the remaining bias is mainly due to inadequate model physical parameterizations （and not due to deviations from the large-scale forcing）. The improved skill in the forecast mode is also quantified for the wind simulation. Despite of the specific biases, the simulations accurately capture the synoptic variability in the observed temperature and wind with reasonable accuracy. However, the model underestimates the wind speed for periods of higher wind speeds, so that strong low-level wind jets are not well simulated. The model tends to generate the wind jet less often and at lower heights, and the core wind speed is lower compared to what is observed.

Prays oleae Bern, （OM） andPalpita unionalis Hfib., （JM） are two of the most important pests in olive groves in Egypt. A 3-year monitoring study using sex pheromone traps in semi-arid and arid olive groves was performed. In the semi-arid grove, flight pattern of the OM was the same as in other Mediterranean countries, but in dates concordating plant phenology. The moth completes three generations annually： the first flight is in March to April, the second is in May to June and the third occurs in August to October. In the arid olive grove, an interesting flight pattern was observed. First flight was always very close or overlapped with the second one with no male catches during August to October. However, eggs were present most of the season, indicating unusually high female presence and oviposition activity of the OM during the absence of males in the traps. Generally, moth densities were significantly lower in low fruiting years than in higher ones and were also lower in the arid olive grove than in the semi-arid one. In contrast, JM males were present all season, exhibiting six to seven and three to four overlapping flight peaks in arid and semi-arid olive groves, respectively. Moth densities were significantly higher in the arid olive grove than those in the semi-arid one. This study shows that trapping location and fruit beating year are characteristics that strongly affect the grove-specific information needed to estimate correctly adult emergence and thus the timing of control measures.

视觉反馈对运动功能执行的准确性有重要作用,而视觉反馈增益、反馈延迟时间及反馈频率都会影响运动功能的输出。通过测试不同增益的视觉反馈刺激对握力输出的影响,从行为学上研究视觉反馈增益在运动功能执行中的调节作用。作者设计了变化速度快慢不同的两种力量跟踪任务,在高低不同的两种视觉反馈增益下测定12个受试者力量输出的出错率和偏差两个参数。统计分析表明,视觉反馈增益对力量输出有显著影响;对同样的力量变化速度,视觉反馈增益提高使力量输出的调节作用增强。实验结果提示,视觉反馈增益变化会引起不同皮层区域参与运动功能的执行。

Perspectives on Everyday Suffering among People with Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Concurrent Mental Disorders

The aim of this study was to describe the perceptions of everyday suffering among adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and comorbid mental disease. Directed content analysis guided by Eriksson’s theory on human suffering was performed on data from 20 individual interviews. Expressions of both suffering and well-being were identified;the former centred on loneliness and related to life, illness, and care, which supported Eriksson’s theory, whereas expressions of well-being related to ADHD diagnosis and supportive social relationships. Nevertheless, results indicate the need to expand those expressions in order to better contribute to developing a supportive rehabilitation regimen that can provide more interpersonal care.

Detection and Persistence of Clinical <i>Escherichia coli</i>in Drinking Water Evaluated by a Rapid Enzyme Assay and qPCR

The aims of this study were to evaluate two methods, qPCR and a chemiluminescent assay (ColiLight II), for rapid detection of E. coli in water, and to examine the survival and persistence of clinical E. coli in drinking water and biofilm using qPCR and ColiLight II. qPCR and ColiLight II were compared with a cultivation-based method (MPN), and survival and persistence of four clinical E. coli strains in water and biofilms on stainless steel (SS) and polyethylene (PE) surfaces were studied in a flow-through reactor with non-disinfected drinking water using ColiLight II, qPCR, ATP bioluminescence, and MPN. ColiLight II and qPCR correlated well with MPN. In drinking water, some clinical E. coli strains showed prolonged survival in drinking water flow-through systems, and persisted 3 - 3.4 times longer than the theoretical washout due to incorporation into biofilms. Strain specific attributes can significantly affect detection and persistence of E. coli in drinking water matrices.
