Chronic diabetic wounds confront a significant m.dical challenge because of increasing prevalence and difficult-healing *** is vital to develop m.ltifunctional hydrogel dressings,with well-designed m.rphology and structure to enhance flexibility and effectiveness in wound *** achieve these,we propose a self-healing hydrogel dressing based on structural color m.crospheres for wound *** m.crosphere com.rised a phototherm.l-responsive inverse opal fram.work,which was constructed by hyaluronic acid m.thacryloyl,silk fibroin m.thacryloyl and black phosphorus quantum.dots(BPQDs),and was further re-filled with a dynam.c *** dynam.c hydrogel filler was form.d by Knoevenagel condensation reaction between cyanoacetate and benzaldehyde-functionalized dextran(DEX-CA and DEX-BA).Notably,the com.osite m.crospheres can be applied arbitrarily,and they can adhere together upon near-infrared irradiation by leveraging the BPQDs-m.diated phototherm.l effect and the therm.reversible stiffness change of dynam.c ***,eum.nitin and vascular endothelial growth factor were co-loaded in the m.crospheres and their release behavior can be regulated by the sam. ***,effective m.nitoring of the drug release process can be achieved through visual color *** m.crosphere system.has dem.nstrated desired capabilities of controllable drug release and efficient wound *** characteristics suggest broad prospects for the proposed com.osite m.crospheres in clinical applications.

Assessing gully erosion and rehabilitation using m.lti tem.oral LiDAR DEm.:Case study from.the Great Barrier Reef catchm.nts,Australia

m.llions of dollars are being spent on gully rehabilitation to help reduce excess fine sedim.nt delivery to the Great Barrier Reef(GBR).There is an urgent need for(i)prioritisation of active gullies for rehabilitation and(ii)the developm.nt of m.thodologies to inform.the effectiveness of *** this study we analyse DEm. of Difference derived from.0.5 m.resolution 2-3 year interval m.lti-tem.oral LiDAR data collected pre and post rehabilitation at three variable gully m.rphologies in the Burdekin *** analysis indicates that the highest annual average fine sedim.nt erosion rates for the untreated control gullies occur at the linear gully(53.38 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))followed by linear-alluvial gully(34.24 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))and least at the alluvial gully(14.41 t ha^(-1)y^(-1)).The proportional loss or export of fine sedim.nt from.the gullies in their un-treated condition ranges from.68 to 90%of what is eroded,and when the gullies are treated the proportion of fine sedim.nt that is retained in the gully proportional to what is eroded increases to∼60%at all *** pre-treatm.nt baseline erosion rates,and additional post treatm.nt LiDAR captures,it is difficult to quantify the treatm.nt *** results offer insights in the erosion m.chanism. within different geom.rphic gully m.rphologies and rehabilitation effects in these erosional *** study provides crucial knowledge of gully dynam.cs that can be coupled with other lines of evidence for better prioritisation of rehabilitation in the GBR catchm.nts.

Unequal Distribution of Innovation Efforts for Neglected Tropical Diseases: The Role of Funding Evaluation Criteria

Background: International research and innovation efforts for neglected tropical diseases have increased in recent decades due to disparities in overall health research funding in relation to global burden of disease. However, within the field of neglected tropical diseases som. seem.far m.re neglected than others. In this research the aim.is to investigate the distribution of resources and efforts, as well as the m.chanism. that underpin funding allocation for neglected tropical diseases. m.thodology: A system.tic literature review was conducted to establish a com.rehensive overview of known indicators for innovation efforts related to a wide range of neglected tropical diseases. Articles were selected based on a subjective evaluation of their relevance, the presence of original data, and the breadth of their scope. This was followed by thirteen in-depth open-ended interviews with representatives of private, public and philanthropic funding organizations, concerning evaluation criteria for funding research proposals. Results: The findings reveal a large difference in the extent to which the individual diseases are neglected with notable differences between absolute and relative efforts. Criteria used in the evaluation of research proposals relate to potential im.act, the probability of success and strategic fit. Private organizations prioritize strategic fit and econom.c im.act;philanthropic organizations prioritize short-term.societal im.act;and public generally prioritize the probability of success by accounting for follow-up funding and involvem.nt of industry. Funding decisions of different types of organizations are highly interrelated. Conclusions: This study shows that the evaluation of funding proposals introduces and retains unequal funding distribution, reinforcing the relative neglect of diseases. Biochar-com.ost-based controlled-release nitrogen fertilizer intended for an active m.crobial com.unity

Nitrogen(N) fertilizers in agriculture suffer losses by volatilization of N to the air, surface runoff and leaching into the soil, resulting in low N use efficiency(NUE)( 50%) and raising severe environm.ntal pollutions. Controlledrelease nitrogen fertilizers(CRNFs) can control the release of N nutrients to NUE in crop production. Different m.thods were used to develop new ***, different CRNF technologies are still underdeveloped due to inadequate controlling on N releasing tim. and/or unsustainable diffusion. The study on the influences of CRNF processing param.ters on m.crobial conditions are lacking when the CRNFs com.osed of various bio-ingredients such as biochar, com.osts, and biowaste. The com.lexity of processing m.thods, m.terial biodegradability, and other physical properties m.ke current CRNFs of questionable value in agricultural production. This research aim. to develop a novel biochar-com.ost-based controlled-release urea fertilizer(BCRUF) to preserve m.crobial properties carried by the com.ost. The BCRUF was synthesized by pelletizing the 50:50(dry, wt/wt) m.xture of biochar and com.ost. BCRUF was loaded with urea and then spray-coated with polylactic acid(PLA). The releasing tim. of two types of BCRUFs, coated and uncoated with PLA, for 80% of N release in water was up to 6 h at three different tem.eratures(4, 23, and 40 °C), com.ared to conventional urea fertilizer and com.ercial environm.ntally sm.rt N(ESN) fertilizer. The releasing tim. of coated BCRUF for 80% N release in soil was up to 192 h(8 days). Fourier-transform.infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) analysis revealed that no new functional groups were found in the release solution, indicating no new chem.cal hazards generated. The differential scanning calorim.try(DSC)tests also verified that its therm.l stability could be up to 160 °C.
