We studied the dynamics of mercury（Hg） transfer in Phaseolus vulgaris plants grown in soil with Hg-doped compost at the maximum levels permitted by Colombian law on organic amendments. Quantitative evaluation of transfer was made in different plant organs： roots,stem, leaves, pods and seeds. Matrix effect was determined in doped soil assays, using soil with and without addition of compost. Results showed that the use of organic matter reduced Hg transfer to the plant and the amount transferred was differentially distributed to the organs. We observed an inverse relationship between concentration and distance from the body to the root. It was evident that transfer was mediated by quantitative factors;the greater the presence of mercury in soil, the larger the amount that will be *** also indicate the remedial effect of compost and the presence of a barrier, at the root level, against mercury translocation to the plant aerial parts.

Gastric varices(GV) have different physiology and clinical characteristics compared to oesophageal varices(OV). There is little information about the management of GV. Most part of the recommendations is extrapolated from studies where the majority of participants had OV. Thus, most recommendations lack of strong evidence. This is a comprehensive review on all aspects of management of GV, i.e., primary, secondary prophylaxis and management of acute bleeding. The papers on which international societies' recommendations are based are scrutinised in this review and areas of research are identified.

Wound healing is a fast and efficient process. However, several factors can inhibit healing, causing scars and chronic wounds. This affects patients in their physical integrity, economic and emotional stability. Many plants that are used in wound healing treatment have antioxidant/anti-inflammatory activity through ROS regulation and antibacterial activity. Asterohyptis stellulata is used for wound treatment. Nonetheless, this activity has not been evaluated and its secondary metabolites are unknown. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze its phytochemical composition and evaluate the healing activity of A. stellulata. For the identification of secondary metabolites, the following were carried out: phytochemical screening, quantification of total phenols, and HPLC/MS analysis. The antibacterial and antioxidant activities were also determined. Next, to evaluate the healing activity of topical application of A. stellulata, the extract was mixed with the Beeler base to form an emulsion and an irritability test was performed. The emulsion was evaluated on incisional wounds of CD1 et/et mice, with tests of tensile strength, total re-epithelialization time, wound closure speed, and histological analysis. The phytochemical analysis showed that A. stellulata has phenolic compounds, two quercetin derivatives and a glycoside rosmarinic acid as main compounds. The extract exhibited medium antibacterial and antioxidant activities. A. stellulata emulsion was non-irritating, promoted closure speed of wound (1.479 ± 0.043 mm/day), increased tensile strength (980 ± 89.44 g), and histological analysis showed it promoted mice skin regeneration, compared to the controls (Recoveron® and Beeler base). This study confirms the traditional use of the A. stellulata.

Abiotic stresses such as drought, cold, and high salinity are among the most adverse factors that affect plant growth and yield in the field. MicroRNAs are small RNA molecules that regulate gene expression in a sequence-specific manner and play an important role in plant stress response. Identifying abiotic stress-associated microRNAs and understanding their function will help develop new strategies for improvement of plant stress tolerance. Here we highlight recent advances in our understanding of abiotic stress-associated miRNAs in various plants, with focus on their discovery, expression analysis, and evolution.

Neurotrophins play a major role in the regulation of neuronal growth such as neurite sprouting or regeneration in response to nerve injuries. The role of nerve growth factor, neurotrophin-3, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor in maintaining the survival of peripheral neurons remains poorly understood. In regenerative medicine, different modalities have been investigated for the delivery of growth factors to the injured neurons, in search of a suitable system for clinical applications. This study was to investigate the influence of nerve growth factor, neurotrophin-3 and brain-derived neurotrophic factor on the growth of neurites using two in vitro models of dorsal root ganglia explants and dorsal root ganglia-derived primary cell dissociated cultures. Quantitative data showed that the total neurite length and tortuosity were differently influenced by trophic factors. Nerve growth factor and, indirectly, brain-derived neurotrophic factor stimulate the tortuous growth of sensory fibers and the formation of cell clusters. Neurotrophin-3, however, enhances neurite growth in terms of length and linearity allowing for a more organized and directed axonal elongation towards a peripheral target compared to the other growth factors. These findings could be of considerable importance for any clinical application of neurotrophic factors in peripheral nerve regeneration. 词汇是语言中最为活跃的要素之一,尤其是颜色词。颜色词在生活中常常出现,在人类日常生活中很明显。由于颜色词的特殊性,汉语教学中常常关注颜色词教学。一方面汉语颜色词的象征意义很强,另一方面,西班牙语中颜色词的象征意义跟汉语中颜色词的象征意义有不同的地方。比如,在中国五千年的文化史中,白色是丧色,是不吉祥的意思,象征死亡和凶兆;相反,在西班牙语中,象征死亡和凶兆的颜色对应是黑色。假使老师问阿根廷中高级学生“白事”是什么意思,他们很有可能不知道。原因在于学生不知道白色具有“死亡”的文化内涵。所以在学习汉语颜色词的过程中要重视颜色词的文化内涵。本文以现代汉语词汇理论及对外汉语词汇教学为依据,通过分析阿根廷本土汉语学习者对汉语颜色词的掌握情况,使用颜色词文化内涵和意义教学的方法,分析阿根廷学习汉语的现状,尤其是在阿根廷学习颜色词的问题。本文主要是由以下几个部分构成:第一章绪论,论述了选题目的及意义、研究对象及范围、研究方法等。第二章对颜色词进行了集合式统计与分析。第三章分析了阿根廷颜色词教学存在的问题,并提出了相应建议。除了介绍阿根廷学习汉语机构的问题之外,本文还尽量补充了有利于阿根廷学生学习颜色词的建议等。第四章针对阿根廷学生的汉语颜色词的教学设计。本文在上述研究基础上最终提出针对阿根廷汉语学习者颜色词教学的方法与技巧,以期帮助母语为西班牙语的阿根廷学生更有效地习得汉语带颜色词的词语。第五章归纳了结论并指出了本文的不足。

A narrative review of the success of intramuscular gluteal injections and its impact in psychiatry

There are 12 billion injections given worldwide every year. For many injections, the intramuscular route is favoured over the subcutaneous route due to the increased vascularity of muscle tissue and the corresponding increase in the bioavailability of drugs when administered intramuscularly. This paper is a review of the variables that affect the success of intramuscular injections and the implications that these success rates have in psychiatry and general medicine. Studies have shown that the success rates of intended intramuscular injections vary between 32 and 52%, with the rest potentially resulting in inadvertent subcutaneous drug deposition. These rates are found to be even lower for certain at-risk populations, such as obese patients and those on antipsychotic medications. The variables associated with an increased risk of injection failure include female sex, obesity, site of injection, and subcutaneous fat depth. New guidelines and methods are needed in order to address this challenge and ensure that patients receive optimum care. Looking forward, the best way to improve the delivery of intramuscular injections worldwide is to develop uniform algorithms or innovative medical devices to confirm or guarantee successful delivery at the bedside.

Background:In the context of the search for cost-efficient treatments,Ulmo(Eurcyphia cordifolia)honey is an excellent alternative for treating burn wounds and could have a profound medical,social,and economic *** acid is an enzymatic co-factor necessary for the synthesis of collagen and the proliferation of fibroblasts and has been proposed as a coadjuvant to strengthen the healing effects of *** aim of this work was to evaluate by morphometric studies the healing wounds caused by burns treated with Ulmo honey alone and supplemented with ascorbic acid in guinea pig(Cavia porcellus).Methods:Fifteen guinea pigs were used and divided randomly into three groups:positive control(C+),experimental with unsupplemented honey(H),and experimental with supplemented honey(SH).A uniform deep burn covering 1 cm2of the back skin was *** following indices were calculated for the morphometric study:superficial contraction index of the wound,deep contraction index of the wound,wound severity index,global healing index,global contraction index,and dermal proliferation ***:The superficial contraction index of the wound,global healing index,global contraction,and dermal proliferation area values of the experimental with supplemented honey group were higher than the other groups(P<0.05).Conclusions:According to these results,the combination of honey with an antioxidant(ascorbic acid)promotes an appropriate action to support the healing *** study showed that by supplementing the Ulmo honey with ascorbic acid,the healing and contraction effects can be strengthened in burn wounds compared to unsupplemented *** results were proof of the synergy between honey and ascorbic acid in healing burn wounds.
