Despite two decades of major advances in the field of thermochronological modeling,state-of-the-art numerical implementations still rely mostly on burial and exhumation processes to explain radiometric *** though such an approach has proved valuable,failing to account for other first-order geological variables has led to misinterpretations and therefore,calls for a *** this study a new version of the Fetkin(finite element temperature kinematics,Ecopetrol)program is *** new algorithm couples time-dependent hydrological and thermal calculations,thus rendering thermochronological ages that,instead of being solely dependent on the kinematical evolution of a system,conditioning by the fluid flow is also *** contrast with previous thermochronological models,this work considers the influence of effective stress on rock properties(porosity and permeability)and therefore,in thermal *** analyses addressing relevant geological questions show not only the versatility of the code but also,new perspectives on forward low-temperature thermochronological *** circulation through pure-sandstone settings produce colder thermal architectures than those obtained in impermeable *** in cooling ages from models with and without fluid circulation are up to 5 myr.A 4-fold variation in thrusting rates(0.5 km/myr to 2 km/myr)produces a 15-myr difference in cooling ages in models with fluid flow,which contrasts to much lower differences,only 2 myr,in domains without(or minimal)fluid circulation.2D thermal solutions in fold-bend-fold thrust belts composed of sandstones remain static despite substantial relief development by kinematic folding.A case-study from Western Argentina,in the Andean Precordillera,confirms the plausibility of the numerical algorithm here posed and raises new questions on the first-order thermal controls in settings under deformation.

We consider the space of rapidly decreasing sequences s and the derivative operator D defined on it. The object of this article is to study the equivalence of a differential operator of infinite order; that is φ（D） =^∞∑k=0φkD^k.φk constant numbers an a power of ***, meaning, is there a isomorphism X （from s onto s） such that Xφ（D） = D^nX？. We prove that if φ（D） is equivalent to Dn, then φ（D） is of finite order, in fact a polynomial of degree n. The question of the equivalence of two differential operators of finite order in the space s is addressed too and solved completely when n = 1.

Relationships between plant water status and gas exchange parameters at increasing levels of water stress were determined in Algerie loquats which grown in 50 I pots. Changes in soil water content and stem water potential and their effects on stomatal conductance （Gs ） and net photosynthesis （Pn） rate were followed in control plants and in plants without irrigation until the latter reached near permanent wilting point and some leaf abscission took place. Then, the irrigation was restarted and the comparison repeated. Soil water content and stem water potential gradually diminished in response to drought reaching the minimum values of 0.9 mm and -5.0 mPa, respectively, 9 days after watering suspension. Compromised plant water status had drastic effects on Gs values that dropped by 97％ in the last day of the drought period. Pn was diminished by 80％ at the end of the drought period. The increasing levels of water stress did not cause a steady increase in leaf temperature in non-irrigated plants. Non-irrigated plants wilted and lost some leaves due to the severity of the water stress. However, all non-irrigated plants survived and reached similar Pn than control plants just a week after the irrigation was restarted, confirming drought tolerance of loquat and suggesting that photosynthesis machinery remained intact.

Pomacea canaliculata is a successful invader and also a competitor and predator of other snails and may play a key role in structuring freshwater snail communities both in its native and invaded range. In the present study we evaluated the contact and distant effects of P. canaliculata in its native range on exotic (melanoides tuberculata and Physa acuta) and native snails (Heleobia parchappii, Biomphalaria peregrina, and Chilina parchappii). Habitat use was affected in P. acuta, H. parchappii, and B. peregrina by contact effects of P. canaliculata, whereas survival was only affected in P. acuta through combined con tact and dista nt effects. Fee undity was reduced in P. acuta and B. peregrina by combined con tact and distant effects;evidence of egg mass predation was also observed in both species. melanoides tuberculata was not affected at all by P. canaliculata. The snail species with higher withdrawal resp on ses to con tacts with P. canaliculata were those that suffered less mortality by corporal contact, whereas snails with high crawling away responses suffered from higher mortality. The effects of P. canaliculata seem to be highly negative to small non operculate sn ails that lay gelati nous egg masses, whereas large operculate ovoviviparous snails are not affected in their survival and reproducti on. This apple snail may exert biotic resista nee agai nst P. acuta but could favor the establishme nt of m. tuberculata and other function ally similar species in new habitats in South America.

AIm To evaluate effect of treatment failure on cag A and vac A genotypes in Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) isolates from *** One hundred and seventy-six participants infected with H. pylori from Colombia were treated during 14 d with the triple-standard therapy. Six weeks later, eradication was evaluated by 13C-Urea breath test. Patients with treatment failure were subjected to endoscopy control; biopsies obtained were used for histopathology and culture. DNA from H. pylori isolates was amplified using primers specific for cag A and vac A genes. The phylogenetic relationships among isolates obtained before and after treatment were established by conglomerate analysis based on random amplified polymorphic DNA(RAPD) *** Treatment effectiveness was at 74.6%. Of the par-ticipants with treatment failure, 25 accepted subjected to a second endoscopy. Prevalence of posttreatment infection was 64%(16/25) and 40%(10/25) by histology and culture, respectively. Upon comparing the cag A and vac A genotypes found before and after therapy, multiple cag A genotypes(cag A-positive and cag A-negative) were found before treatment; in contrast, cag A-negative genotypes decreased after treatment. vac A s1m1 genotype was highly prevalent in patients before and after therapy. The 3'cag A region was successfully amplified in 95.5%(21/22) of the isolates obtained before and in 81.8%(18/22) of the isolates obtained after treatment. In the isolates obtained from patients with treatment failure, it was found that 72.7%(16/22) presented alterations in the number of EPIYA motifs, compared to isolates found before *** Unsuccessful treatment limits colonization by lowvirulence strains resulting in partial and selective eradication in mixed infections, and acts on the cag A-positive strains inducing genetic rearrangements in cag A variable region that produces a loss or gain of EPIYA repetitions.
