BACKGROUND The Pringle maneuver[portal triad obstruction(PTO)]provides huge disturbances during ischemia and even more thereafter in ***,a possible solution may be stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157,with already documented beneficial effects in ischemia/reperfusion ***,BPC 157,as a cytoprotective agent,successfully resolved vessel occlusions in rats(ischemic colitis;deep vein thrombosis,superior anterior pancreaticoduodenal vein;bile duct cirrhosis)through rapid collateral vessel recruitment to circumvent vessel ***,medication BPC 157 regimens were administered as a single challenge before and during ischemia or,alternatively,at various time points during *** To introduce BPC 157 therapy against pringle *** In deeply anesthetised rats,the portal triad was clamped up for 30 *** then underwent reperfusion for either 15 min or 24 ***[(10μg,10 ng/kg)regimens,administered as a single challenge]picked(a)ischemia,PTO period[at 5 min before(ip)or at 5 or 30 min of ligation time(as a bath to PTO)]or(b)reperfusion,post-PTO period[at 1 or 15 min(bath during surgery)or 24 h(ip)reperfusion-time].We provided gross,microscopy,malondialdehyde,serum enzymes,electrocardiogram,portal,caval,and aortal pressure,thrombosis and venography *** BPC 157 counteracts electrocardiogram disturbances(increased P wave amplitude,S1Q3T3 QRS pattern and tachycardia).Rapidly presented vascular pathway(portal vein-superior mesenteric vein-inferior mesenteric vein-rectal veins-left ileal vein-inferior caval vein)as the adequate shunting immediately affected disturbed *** hypertension and severe aortal hypotension during PTO,as well as portal and caval hypertension and mild aortal hypotension in reperfusion and refractory ascites formation were markedly attenuated(during PTO)or completely abrogated(reperfusion);thrombosis in portal vein tributaries and inferior caval vein o

BACKGROUND Recently,as a possible therapy resolving solution,pentadecapeptide BPC 157 therapy,has been used in alleviating various vascular occlusion *** 157 was previously reviewed as novel mediator of Robert cytoprotection and endothelium protection in the stomach,and gut-brain axis,beneficial therapy in gastrointestinal tract,with particular reference to vascular recruitment,ulcerative colitis and tumor cachexia,and other tissues *** we raised new hypothesis about BPC 157 therapy in the Budd-Chiari syndrome in rats,rapid bypassing of the suprahepatic inferior caval vein occlusion,and rats recovery with the active and effective pharmacotherapy *** To investigate Budd-Chiari syndrome model(inferior caval vein suprahepatic occlusion)resolution,since BPC 157 resolves various rat vascular *** We assessed the activated bypassing pathways between the inferior and superior caval veins and portocaval shunt,counteracted caval/portal hypertension,aortal hypotension,venous/arterial thrombosis,electrocardiogram disturbances,liver and gastrointestinal lesions(i.e.,stomach and duodenum hemorrhages,in particular,congestion).Rats with suprahepatic occlusion of the inferior vena cava by ligation were medicated at 1 min,15 min,24 h,or 48 h *** consisted of 10μg/kg BPC 157,10 ng BPC 157 or 5 m L/kg saline,administered once as an abdominal bath or intragastric *** and microscopic observations were made,in addition to assessments of electrical activity of the heart(electrocardiogram),portal and caval hypertension,aortal hypotension,thrombosis,hepatomegaly,splenomegaly and ***,levels of nitric oxide,malondialdehyde in the liver and serum enzymes were *** BPC 157 counteracted increased P wave amplitude,tachycardia and ST-elevation,i.e.,right heart failure from acute thrombotic coronary *** bypassing pathway of the inferior vena cava-azygos(hemiazygos)vein-superior

Monitoring open water area changes in a small tarn using historical orthophotomaps and a historical bathymetric map:a case study of the Litworowy Staw lake,the High Tatras

According to scientific evidence in general, the disappearance of the Tatras tarns as a result of external geomorphological processes has been accepted since the long term analyses of lake sediments and peat bogs, geomorphological mapping, geophysical measurements(– all indirect methods). It is paradoxical that the direct cartographic evidence of such changes has not existed until now. In this paper, we evaluate shore line changes of the small mountain glacial lake in the High Tatras-Litworowy Staw lake using a multitemporal analysis of a series of historical orthophotomaps and a historical map. Over the last 100 years, the tarn has lost 46.4% of open water level area. Significant visual changes were caused by vegetation growth of Carex species(sedges) on the water's surface. The accumulation of fine sediments and dead plant residues in the tarn basin create suitable conditions for this process, all together causing the tarn to become more shallow.

Physical Properties of Half-Heusler Antiferromagnet MnPtSn Single Crystal

We report the growth of ternary half-Heusler MnPtSn single crystals and detailed study on its structural and physical *** single crystal has a larger lattice parameter than that in polycrystal and it exhibits antiferromagnetism with transition temperature TN at about 215 K,distinctly different from the ferromagnetism of MnPtSn *** resistivity measurement indicates that the dominant carriers are hole-type and the nearly temperature-independent carrier concentration reaches about 2.86×10^22 cm^-3 at 5 ***,the carrier mobility is also rather low(4.7 cm^2·V^-1s^-1 at 5 K).The above results strongly suggest that the significant Mn/Sn anti-site defects,i.e.,the content of Mn in MnPtSn single crystal,play a vital role on structural,magnetic and transport properties.

Negative differential resistance and quantum oscillations in FeSb_2 with embedded antimony

We present a systematical study on single crystalline FeSb2 using electrical transport and magnetic torque measurements at low temperatures. Nonlinear magnetic field dependence of Hall resistivity demonstrates a multi-carrier transport instinct of the electronic transport. Current-controlled negative differential resistance(CC-NDR) observed in currentvoltage characteristics below ～ 7 K is closely associated with the intrinsic transition ～ 5 K of FeSb2, which is, however,mediated by extrinsic current-induced Joule heating effect. The antimony crystallized in a preferred orientation within the FeSb2 lattice in the high-temperature synthesis process leaves its fingerprint in the de Haas-Van Alphen(dHvA) oscillations, and results in the regular angular dependence of the oscillating frequencies. Nevertheless, possible existence of intrinsic non-trivial states cannot be completely ruled out. Our findings call for further theoretical and experimental studies to explore novel physics on flux-free grown FeSb_2 crystals.

Prototype of highly efficient liquid electrode pulsating corona plasma reactor for degradation of organics in water

Prototype of atmospheric pressure non-thermal corona plasma reactor, developed for degradation of organics in water, operates at significantly higher frequency than other reactors for that purpose, and without sparks. Its construction provides the umbrella shaped, sustained pulsating corona discharge, with defined discharge oscillations on a given pulse frequency above the water surface. Dye degradation rate decreases with the decrease of discharge current density. Plasmaformed H2O2 is consumed in dye degradation. The energy yield of dye degradation is 2.45 g k Wh^-1 for 50 ppm solution, which is higher than in other publications for comparable experimental conditions.
