Biochar wettability and ability to accumulate moisture inside the porous space are crucial for improving soil fertility,regulating soil water balance,and regulating ***,a long-term interaction of biochar with agricultural soils may drastically alter the wetting properties and,eventually,influence water holding capacity and the structure of *** this work,the structure and wetting properties of biochar samples after 6-year long exposure to a sandy loam Spodosol with a crop rotation and mineral fertilizers application were *** was found that the elemental composition of the aged biochars was richer and more"soil-like",which is explained by the presence of the mineral crust on the biochar *** temporal evolution of biochar in the soil without any mineral fertilizer application resulted in significant improvement of its surface wettability due to the effects of various environmental *** lateral surface of biochar after 6-year interaction with the soil changes into a loose porous layer in a form of grooved base filled with adherent mineral soil and clay ***,the application of the mineral fertilizer to the soil resulted in decreased wettability of the biochar lateral surfaces due to a decrease in the polar component of surface energy and the crusting of the surface with fine material,which blocks the pore space of the *** a result,water capacity of the biochar from the treatment with the fertilizer decreased compared to the biochar samples collected from the soil without the fertilizer *** radial biochar surfaces of both types of samples collected from the soil were open vessels filled with soil particles that slow down complete wetting and water *** treatment of the biochar samples with surfactants drastically increased wettability of lateral surface and water absorption capacity of control samples as compared to the samples collected from the *** obtained results support the idea t

We investigate the global existence of strong solutions to a non-isothermal ideal gas model derived from an energy variational *** first show the global wellposedness in the Sobolev space H^(2)(R^(3)) for solutions near equilibrium through iterated energy-type bounds and a continuity *** then prove the global well-posedness in the critical Besov space B^(3/2)_(2,1) by showing that the linearized operator is a contraction mapping under the right circumstances.

Red blood cell(RBC)aggregation as well as their deformation signi¯cantly affects blood *** processes depend on various factors,one of which is concentration of the nitric oxide,one of the main signaling molecule in the *** purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nitric oxide on the microrheological properties of red blood cells(RBCs)in RBC samples of various media after the addition of nitric oxide donor sodium nitroprusside in *** properties were measured using laser aggregometer and ektacytometer based on diffuse light scattering and diffraction of laser light on a suspension of RBCs,*** study found that heparin-stabilized blood showed increased RBC aggregation and deformation with sodium nitroprusside concentrations of 100,and 200M,while EDTA-stabilized blood showed slightly decreased aggregation and unchanged *** washed RBCs in dextran solution,the addition of sodium nitroprusside(in the concentrations of 100,and 200M)resulted in decreased aggregation and increased ***-ndings aid in our understanding of nitric oxide's effect on RBC microrheological properties.

A Statistical Study of Magnetic Flux Emergence in Solar Active Regions Prior to Strongest Flares

Using the data on magnetic field maps and continuum intensity for Solar Cycles 23 and 24,we explored 100 active regions(ARs)that produced M5.0 or stronger *** focus on the presence/absence of the emergence of magnetic flux in these ARs 2-3 days before the strong flare *** found that 29 ARs in the sample emerged monotonically amidst quiet-Sun.A major emergence of a new magnetic flux within a pre-existing AR yielding the formation of a complex flare-productive configuration was observed in another 24 *** 30 ARs,an insignificant(in terms of the total magnetic flux of pre-existing AR)emergence of a new magnetic flux within the pre-existing magnetic configuration was observed;for some of them the emergence resulted in a formation of a configuration with a small δ-sunspot;11 out of 100 ARs exhibited no signatures of magnetic flux emergence during the entire interval of *** six cases the emergence was in progress when the AR appeared on the Eastern limb,so that the classification and timing of emergence were not *** conclude that the recent flux emergence is not a necessary and/or sufficient condition for strong flaring of an *** flux emergence rate of flare-productive ARs analyzed here was compared with that of flare-quiet ARs analyzed in our previous *** revealed that the flare-productive ARs tend to display faster emergence than the flare-quiet ones do.

Achieving densely packed particles is desirable within the industries of ceramics,pharmaceuticals,defence and additive *** this work,we use the discrete element method(DEM)to determine the effect of wall parameters on the final packing density of mono-disperse spheres subject to 4 varying three-dimensional vibration and fill *** focus specifically on the impact of the container wall parameters on the particles'final packing *** on from the validation of the DEM simulation the particle-wall coefficient of restitution,the particle-wall coefficient of rolling friction and the particle-wall coefficient of sliding friction were varied individually and the effect on the final packing density *** relatively low particle-particle friction glass beads,the effect of these wall properties had no discernible effect on the final packing density *** on from these findings the particle-wall properties were varied at the extreme values of particle-particle coefficient of rolling friction and particle-particle coefficient of sliding *** a particle-particle coefficient of sliding friction=1,increases in particle-wall coefficient of restitution resulted in a minor increase in the final packing density of particles though this was not statistically *** a particle-particle coefficient of sliding friction=1,increases in particle-wall coefficient of rolling friction resulted in a minor decrease in the final packing density of the particles though again not to a degree where the trend can,with complete certainty,be distinguished from the random error across the ***,when the particle-particle coefficient of sliding friction=1,increases in particle-wall coefficient of sliding friction resulted in a significant decrease in the final packing density of *** decrease was attributed to the propagation of force chains throughout the *** significant decrease in final packing density with

High-speed solar-blind short wavelength ultraviolet radiation detectors based onκ(ε)-Ga_(2)O_(3)layers with Pt contacts were demonstrated and their properties were studied in ***κ(ε)-Ga_(2)O_(3)layers were deposited by the halide vapor phase epitaxy on patterned GaN templates with sapphire *** spectral dependencies of the photoelectric properties of struc-tures were analyzed in the wavelength interval 200-370 *** maximum photo to dark current ratio,responsivity,detectiv-ity and external quantum efficiency of structures were determined as:180.86 ***.,3.57 A/W,1.78×10^(12) Hz^(0.5)∙cm·W^(-1) and 2193.6%,respectively,at a wavelength of 200 nm and an applied voltage of 1 *** enhancement of the photoresponse was caused by the decrease in the Schottky barrier at the Pt/κ(ε)-Ga_(2)O_(3)interface under ultraviolet *** detectors demon-strated could functionalize in self-powered mode due to built-in electric field at the Pt/κ(ε)-Ga_(2)O_(3)*** responsivity and external quantum efficiency of the structures at a wavelength of 254 nm and zero applied voltage were 0.9 mA/W and 0.46%,*** rise and decay times in self-powered mode did not exceed 100 ms.

Self-powered UVC detectors based on α-Ga_(2)O_(3) with enchanted speed performance

Detectors were developed for detecting irradiation in the short-wavelength ultraviolet(UVC)interval using high-quality single-crystallineα-Ga_(2)O_(3) films with Pt interdigital *** films ofα-Ga_(2)O_(3) were grown on planar sapphire substrates with c-plane orientation using halide vapor phase *** spectral dependencies of the photo to dark current ratio,responsivity,external quantum efficiency and detectivity of the structures were investigated in the wavelength interval of 200−370 *** maximum of photo to dark current ratio,responsivity,external quantum efficiency,and detectivity of the structures were 1.16×10^(4) ***.,30.6 A/W,1.65×10^(4)%,and 6.95×10^(15) Hz^(0.5)·cm/W at a wavelength of 230 nm and an applied voltage of 1 *** high values of photoelectric properties were due to the internal enhancement of the photoresponse associated with strong hole ***α-Ga_(2)O_(3) film-based UVC detectors can function in self-powered operation mode due to the built-in electric field at the Pt/α-Ga_(2)O_(3) *** a wavelength of 254 nm and zero applied voltage,the structures exhibit a responsivity of 0.13 mA/W and an external quantum efficiency of 6.2×10^(−2)%.The UVC detectors based on theα-Ga_(2)O_(3) films demonstrate high-speed performance with a rise time of 18 ms in self-powered mode.
