Dynamic failure of dry and fully saturated limestone samples based on incubation time concept

This paper outlines the results of experimental study of the dynamic rock.failure based on the comparison of dry and saturated limestone samples obtained during the dynamic compression and split tests. The tests were performed using the k.lsk. method and its modifications for dynamic splitting. The mechanical data(e.g. strength, time and energy characteristics) of this material at high strain rates are obtained. It is shown that these characteristics are sensitive to the strain rate. A unified interpretation of these rate effects, based on the structuraletemporal approach, is hereby presented. It is demonstrated that the temporal dependence of the dynamic compressive and split tensile strengths of dry and saturated limestone samples can be predicted by the incubation time criterion. Previously discovered possibilities to optimize(minimize) the energy input for the failure process is discussed in connection with industrial rock.failure processes. It is shown that the optimal energy input value associated with critical load, which is required to initialize failure in the rock.media, strongly depends on the incubation time and the impact duration. The optimal load shapes, which minimize the momentum for a single failure impact, are demonstrated. Through this investigation, a possible approach to reduce the specific energy required for rock.cutting by means of high-frequency vibrations is also discussed.

The administration time is a critical but long-neglected point in cell therapy based on macrophages because the incorrect time of macrophage administration could result in diverse outcomes regarding the same macrophage *** this work.the second near-infrared(NIR-II)fluorescence imaging in vivo track.ng of M2 macrophages during a pro-healing therapy in the mice model of rotator cuff injury revealed that the behavior of administrated macrophages was influenced by the timing of their *** delayed cell therapy(DCT)group had a longer retention time of injected M2 macrophages in the repairing tissue than that in the immediate cell therapy(ICT)*** k.ller-Segel model and histological analysis further demonstrated that DCT altered the chemotaxis of M2 macrophages and improved the healing outcome of the repaired structure in comparison with *** results offer a possible explanation of previous conflicting results on reparative cell therapy and provok. reconsideration of the timing of these therapies.

AIM:To provide a comprehensive and more representative national data on the disease,especially on treatment options and outcomes,and to determine access of retinoblastoma patients from Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao to eye care,and determine if access is associated with delay in consultation,staging and ***:Cohort study of retinoblastoma patients seen in eleven institutions located in the three major areas of the Philippines namely Luzon,Vizayas and Mindanao from ***:Totally 636 patients,involving 821 eyes,were ***(57%)were from Luzon and were seen in institutions in Luzon(72%).Annually,58±10 new cases were seen with 71%having unilateral *** delay of consultation remained long at 9(3,17)mo,longest in patients with unilateral disease(P<0.02)and those from the Visayas(P<0.003).Based on the International Retinoblastoma Staging System,only 35%of patients had Stage 1 while 47%already had extraocular *** was the most common treatment received by 484 patients while intravenous chemotherapy was received by *** were 250(39%)patients alive,195(31%)dead,85(13%)abandoned,17(3%)refused and 89(14%)with no ***:This study presents the largest cohort of retinoblastoma patients in the Philippines in terms of patients’and participating institutions’number and geographical location and type of institution(private and public).It also presents more comprehensive data on the treatments used and outcomes(survival,globe salvage,and vision retention rates).Delay in consultation was still long among patients leading to advanced disease stage and lower survival *** increasing capacity to diagnose and manage retinoblastoma in the country,the delay of consultation remains long primarily due to accessibility issues to eye care institutions especially in the Visayas and financial *** delay was still significant that overall survival rate remain low.

Heat Transfer in Internal Channel of a Blade:Effects of Rotation in a Trailing Edge Cooling System

NON-ARCHIMEDEAN PROBABILITY: FREQUENCY AND AXIOMATICS THEORIES

We propose a new theory of probability based on the general principle of the statistical stabilization of relative frequencies. According to this principle it is possible to consider the statistical stabilization not only with respect to the standard real topology on the field of rational numbers Q but also with respect to an arbitrary topology on Q. The case of p-adic (and more general non-Archimedean) topologies is the most important. Our frequency theory of Probability is a fruitful extension of the frequency theory of R. von Mises[18]. It's well k.own that the axiomatic theory of k.lmogorov uses the frequency theory as one of the foundations. And a new general frequency theory can be considered as the base for the general axiomatic theory of probability (k.lmogorov's theory is a particular case of this theory which corresponds to the real topology of the statistical stabilization on Q). The situation in the theory of probability becomes similar to that in modern geometry. The k.lmogorov axiomatics (as the Euclidean) is only one of the possibilities, and we have generated a great number of different non-k.lmogorov theories of *** applications to p-adic quantum mechanics and field theory are considered.

Comparison of fusion methods based on DST and DBN in human activity recognition

Ambient assistive living environments require sophisticated information fusion and reasoning techniques to accurately identify activities of a person under care. In this paper, we explain, compare and discuss the application of two powerful fusion methods, namely dynamic Bayesian network. (DBN) and Dempster-Shafer theory (DST), for human activity recognition. Both methods are described, the implementation of activity recognition based on these methods is explained, and model acquisition and composition are suggested. We also provide functional comparison of both methods as well as performance comparison based on the publicly available activity dataset. Our findings show that in performance and applicability, both DST and DBN are very similar; however, significant differences exist in the ways the models are obtained. DST being top-down and k.owledge-based, differs significantly in qualitative terms, when compared with DBN, which is data-driven. These qualitative differences between DST and DBN should therefore dictate the selection of the appropriate model to use, given a particular activity recognition application.

CO_(2)hydrogenation is an attractive way to store and utilize carbon dioxide generated by industrial processes,as well as to produce valuable chemicals from renewable and abundant *** catalysts are commonly used for the hydrogenation of carbon oxides to ***-molybdenum catalysts have found numerous applications in catalysis,but have been never evaluated in the CO_(2)*** this work.the structural properties of iron-molybdenum catalysts without and with a promoting alk.li metal(Li,Na,k.Rb,or Cs)were characterized using X-ray diffraction,hydrogen temperatureprogrammed reduction,CO_(2)temperature-programmed desorption,in-situ^(57)Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy and operando X-ray adsorption *** catalytic performance was evaluated in the CO_(2)*** the reaction conditions,the catalysts undergo the formation of an iron(Ⅱ)molybdate structure,accompanied by a partial reduction of molybdenum and carbidization of *** rate of CO_(2)conversion and product selectivity strongly depend on the promoting alk.li metals,and electronegativity was identified as an important factor affecting the catalytic *** CO_(2)conversion rates were observed with the promoters having higher electronegativity,while low electronegativity of alk.li metals favors higher light olefin selectivity.
