Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common inflammatory skin disease in children. Treatment of AD is based on skin barrier repair and reduction of inflammation. We analyzed the efficacy and safety of activated piroctone olamine (APO)—Blue Cap—in children with AD. Materials and Methods: An open-label interventional clinical study was carried out at three clinical centers in Serbia. A total of 58 patients with AD, aged between 3 and 18 years were included and treated with Blue Cap Foam (100 ml;CATALYSIS S.L. Madrid)—Activated Piroctone Olamine—applied twice a day in the affected areas with eczema for 30 days and final assessment at 45 days from baseline. Photographic documentation, clinical evaluation, therapy effectiveness and safety questionnaires were assessed at baseline, 15, 30 and 45 days. Results: Our results demonstrated a significant reduction in signs (erythema, scaling, infiltration, excoriations, xerosis) and symptoms (pruritus) at weeks 2 and 4 of the study. At the end of the study, most patients had moderate (28.6%) to great (62.5%) disappearance of manifestations and moderate (25%) to great (71.4%) skin quality improvement. The effect and tolerability of the therapy were evaluated as very good in 66.1 % and 67.9% and good in about 14.3% and 17.9%, assessed by the investigator and patient, respectively. Three patients experienced a burning sensation at the beginning of the study, the side-effects were resolved as the patients continued applying the foam. After two weeks of cessation of the investigated foam, a significant percentage of patients experienced worsening in the final assessment done by the investigator as well as the participant. In the final assessment, a significantly high percentage (57.1%) of patients had a total reduction of manifestation, and a significant number of participants considered the applied product as treatment success, assessed by the investigator (62.5%) as well as the participants (66.4%). Hematite pigment has a long history,but it cannot be used for ceramic application,because it must be thermally and chemically stable at high firing temperature when using a pigment in a glaze or ceramic ***,through encapsulated systems,a new pigment with suitable thermal and chemical stability can be obtained by encapsulating hematite crystals into selected silica or zircon *** means that nano-sized red hematite has been encapsulated into the protected *** electron micrographs of hematite encapsulated into silica and zircon matrices by sol-gel method show spherical single crystals with diameter of about 5-10 *** order to optimize ceramic glaze formulations for application of the synthesized red inorganic nanocomposite inclusion pigment by sol-gel method,four different types of glazes(i.e.,alkalis,borate,earth alkalis,and leaded glazes)have been *** results show that the substitution of a fraction of zircon by cristobalite in hematite-zircon pigment produces acceptable stability with red hue.

Synthesis and Characterization of Superhydrophobic-Superoleophobic and Anti-Corrosion Coatings via Sol-gel Process

Superoleophobic nanocomposite coatings with improved hydrophobic properties were obtained by incorporation of a perfluoroalkyl polymer in hybrid sol-gel matrix containing silica and titania nanoparticles. SiO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized based on sol-gel precursors utilizing tetraethyl orthosilicate, 3-glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane, and tetra (n-butyl orthotitanate). SEM and EDX images of the coating demonstrated that a Silica nanosphere had been aggregated in superporous structure. The analysis results show that nano-sized inorganic particles (10 - 20 nm) have a uniform distribution and dispersion. By increasing the PFOTES, the oleophobicity of coatings increased due to lowering of surface energy in the presence of fluoropolymer. Results of EIS measurement show that PFOTES and TiO2 nanoparticles increased anti-corrosion property of hybrid coatings. This method introduces a simple way to produce water- and oil-repellent self-cleaning coatings on large areas of different substrates like glass, ceramic, metal and composites.

We reviewed the pleiotropic beneficial effects of the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157,three very recent demonstrations that may be essential in the gut-brain and braingut axis operation,and therapy application in the central nervous system disorders,in ***,given in the reperfusion,BPC 157 counteracted bilateral clamping of the common carotid arteries-induced stroke,sustained brain neuronal damages were resolved in rats as well as disturbed memory,locomotion,and *** therapy effect supports particular gene expression in hippocampal tissues that appeared in BPC 157-treated ***,there are L-Ng-nitro arginine methyl ester(L-NAME)-and haloperidol-induced catalepsy as well as the rat acute and chronic models of 'positivelike' schizophrenia symptoms,that BPC 157 counteracted,and resolved the complex relationship of the nitric oxide-system with amphetamine and apomorphine(dopamine agents application),MK-801(non-competitive antagonist of the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor) and chronic methamphetamine administration(to induce sensitivity).Thirdly,after rat spinal cord compression,there were advanced healing and functional recovery(counteracted tail paralysis).Likewise,in BPC 157 therapy,there is specific support for each of these topics:counteracted encephalopathies;alleviated vascular occlusion disturbances(stroke);counteracted dopamine disturbances(dopamine receptors blockade,receptors super sensitivity development,or receptor activation,over-release,nigrostriatal damage,vesicles depletion),and nitric oxide-system disturbances("L-NAME non-responsive,L-arginine responsive," and "L-NAME responsive,L-arginine responsive")(schizophrenia therapy);inflammation reduction,nerve recovery in addition to alleviated hemostasis and vessels function after compression(spinal cord injury therapy).Thus,these disturbances may be all resolved within the same agent's beneficial activity,i.e.,the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157.

Diversity, Chemical Compositions and Beneficial Effects of Some Spices and Aromatic Leaves Consumed in Benin and in the World: Critical Review

Spices and aromatic plants are products of plant origin used in food. They are used for the preparation of remedies, for seasoning dishes or for preserving food. This review takes stock of the diversity of spices and aromatic herbs, the chemical composition, the different properties and forms of use of six spices and aromatic herbs commonly used in Benin and around the world. These are Zingiber officinalis (ginger), Curcuma longa (curcuma), Syzygium aromaticum (clove) and three aromatic herbs Petroselinum crispum (parsley), Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary), and Laurus nobilis (laurel). The methodology used is that of documentary research oriented towards the consultation of previous scientific documents that have highlighted the different pharmacological activities of the different species of spices and aromatic plants targeted. It is important to note that more than twenty plant species are used as spices and aromatic plants in Benin and around the world. Chemically, these different spices and aromatic herbs contain certain secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, tannins, coumarins, alkaloids, steroids, terpenes, saponins, and polyphenols. This diversity of secondary metabolites alone or in a possible synergy may be responsible for many beneficial properties attributed to spices and aromatic herbs.
