Spatial hydrographic data collected from August 2007 through May 2008 and the Princeton Ocean Model(POM)are utilized to explain and document the upwelling in the south eastern Arabian Sea(SEAS).The decrease in the magnitude of winds towards the coast favors local anticyclonic vorticity,resulting in the formation of cyclonic eddy and reversal of coastal *** Ekman transport due to alongshore winds,Ekman pumping due to wind stress curl,cyclonic eddy and southward West Indian Coastal Currents play different roles in the SEAS *** the offshore,wind stress curl leads to the formation of meso-scale eddies,resulting in Ekman pumping at the center and consequent *** rapid depth variation on the western side of Quilon Mount intensifies upwelling in the *** upwelling Kelvin waves generated at the equator terminates in the Bay of Bengal and do not contribute to the SEAS *** possible role of local and remote winds,especially around Sri Lanka on the upwelling dynamics of SEAS is described utilizing *** Kelvin waves generated off the coast of Sri Lanka during the active phase of the summer monsoon also contribute to the upwelling dynamics off the west coast of India.

Muon spin relaxation/rotation(μSR) is a vital technique for probing the superconducting gap structure, pairing symmetry and time reversal symmetry breaking, enabling an understanding of the mechanisms behind the unconventional superconductivity of cuprates and Fe-based high-temperature superconductors, which remain a puzzle. very recently double layered Fe-based superconductors having quasi-2 D crystal structures and Cr-based superconductors with a quasi-1D structure have drawn considerable attention. Here we present a brief review of the characteristics of a few selected Fe-and Cr-based superconducting materials and highlight some of the major outstanding problems, with an emphasis on the superconducting pairing symmetries of these materials. We focus on μSR studies of the newly discovered superconductors ACa_2Fe_4As_4F_2(A = K, Rb, and Cs), ThFeAsN, and A_2Cr_3As_3(A = K, Cs), which were used to determine the superconducting gap structures, the presence of spin fluctuations, and to search for time reversal symmetry breaking in the superconducting states. We also briefly discuss the results of μSR investigations of the superconductivity in hole and electron doped BaFe_2As_2.

In the present study,AZ91 Mg alloy was heat treated at 410℃ for 6,12 and 24 h to investigate the influence of heat treatment on machinability and corrosion *** effect of soaking time on the amount and distribution of Mg 17 Al 12(β-phase)was analyzed under the optical *** measurements demonstrated the increased hardness with increased heat treatment soaking time,which can be attributed to the solid solution *** influence of super saturatedα-grains on reducing the cutting force(F z)with respect to increased cutting speed was observed as *** corrosion behavior of the heat treated specimens was studied by conducting electrochemical ***,corrosion rate of heat treated samples was observed as increased compared with the base *** the results,it is evident that the machinability of AZ91 Mg alloy can be improved by producing super saturatedα-grains through heat treatment but at the cost of losing corrosion resistance.

Oscillating water column （OWC） based wave energy plants have been designed with several types of bidirectional turbines for converting pneumatic power to shaft power. Impulse turbines with linked guide vanes and fixed guide vanes have been tested at the Indian Wave Energy plant. This was after initial experimentation with Well＇s turbines. In contrast to the Well＇s turbine which has a linear damping characteristic, impulse turbines have non-linear damping. This has an important effect in the overall energy conversion from wave to wire. Optimizing the wave energy plant requires a turbine with linear damping and good efficiency over a broad range of flow coefficient. This work describes how such a design can be made using fixed guide vane impulse turbines. The Indian Wave Energy plant is used as a case study.

A study was conducted by collecting eight seepage water samples that drain through the sedimentary rocks, mainly sandstone and shale, to evaluate the hydro- geochemical characteristics. The collected samples were analyzed for physico-chemical parameters using standard procedures. Three water types were identified in the Piper plot and the hydrogeochemical evolution starts from a Ca- C1 facies （type 1） via mixed Ca-Mg-C1 and Ca-Na-HCO3 facies （type 2） to Na-C1 facies （type 3）. Increasing trend of electrical conductivity （EC） values were observed from type 1 water to type 3 water. Lower ionic concentrations with an average EC value of 35.7 kts/cm in Ca-C1 facies indicate the recharge water by monsoonal rainfall, and ion exchange/weathering process is reflected in the mixing zone. Higher ionic concentration with an average EC value of 399 kts/cm is noted in Na-C1 facies, which indicates the ion exchange during water-rock interaction. Higher log pCO2 values are also found in this facies, revealing the longer residence time of seepage water in the rock matrix, which release more ions into the water. The relative mobility of elements during weathering suggest that the order of mobility in both sandstone and shale is Na 〉 Ca 〉 Mg 〉 K. It was observed that thehydrogeochemistry of seepage water is mainly controlled by the bedrock geology.

A detailed investigation carried out, with the help of extensive simulations using the TCAD device simulator Sentaurus, with the aim of achieving an understanding of the effects of variations in gate and drain potentials on the device characteristics of a silicon double-gate tunnel field effect transistor（Si-DG TFET） is reported in this paper. The investigation is mainly aimed at studying electrical properties such as the electric potential, the electron density, and the electron quasi-Fermi potential in a channel. From the simulation results, it is found that the electrical properties in the channel region of the DG TFET are different from those for a DG MOSFET. It is observed that the central channel potential of the DG TFET is not pinned to a fixed potential even after the threshold is passed（as in the case of the DG MOSFET）; instead, it initially increases and later on decreases with increasing gate voltage, and this is also the behavior exhibited by the surface potential of the device. However, the drain current always increases with the applied gate voltage. It is also observed that the electron quasi-Fermi potential（e QFP）decreases as the channel potential starts to decrease, and there are hiphops in the channel e QFP for higher applied drain voltages. The channel regime resistance is also observed for higher gate length, which has a great effect on the I–v characteristics of the DG TFET device. These channel regime electrical properties will be very useful for determining the tunneling current; thus these results may have further uses in developing analytical current models.
