Morphologically homogeneous groups,either living populations or fossil paleo-populations,must be regarded as ecological species,independent of their molecular genetic resemblance in living *** is always expressed during development by structure genes initiated from a network of regulator genes acting at different times and intensities,additionally being subjected to epigenetic ***,homogeneous populations influenced by the environment represent species better than the reproduction(biological species)or molecular-genetic approach using ancestral sequences like *** and fossil representatives of nummulitid foraminifera were chosen to demonstrate complete reconstruction of morphology using metrical growth-invariant and growth-independent *** these characters,6 models were established to define ecological species in living and fossil ***,a distinction between evolutionary and environmental effects in fossil forms was possible using discriminant analysis showing characters that are responsible for differentiating between evolutionary and environmental trends.

This study explores the color preferences of elderly residents of nursing homes based on the expected activities for different rooms,activity rooms,and bedrooms and compares the results with the arousal level induced by each *** experime nts were con ducted,one with elderly people living in nursing homes in the Valen cian Comm unity,and the other in a laboratory with virtual reality and physiological markers(i.e.,heart rate variability).I dlviduals assessed six colors in two groups of warm and *** demonstrate that preferences for warm and cool colors depend on the room *** the activity room,warm colors were preferred over the cool colors by both genders,fitting the higher arousal levels induced by warm versus cool *** the bedrooms,cool colors were preferred by both genders,fitting the lower arousal levels induced by cool colors in females and the other models that suggest a U-shaped relation between the arousal level and the visible spectra of ***,the color preferences for interior spaces in nursing homes depend on the room type and are related to the arousal level for the expected activity in them.

This article is about the methods and techniques used in the building ＂retrofit＂ in modernist style designed by the architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy in the fifties, and also about the project of the new Rio de Janeiro MIS （Museum of Image and Sound）, under construction, by The North-American office Diller Scofidio ＋ Renfro, both located in the city of Rio de Janeiro. These constructions present a wide view of the concept of sustainability, not commonly used in public buildings in Brazil. In the building designed by Reidy, which belongs to the State of Rio de Janeiro, the regeneration to host the new headquarters of the State Department of Taxation and Finance respected its original characteristics and used smart and sustainable design techniques, as well as recyclable materials. On the other hand, the project of the new museum at Copacabana Beach was entirely planned on sustainable bases and it includes the application of building techniques concerning that purpose. This article presents a study of these two cases and evaluates the techniques and materials used in one another. Observing the principles of sustainability in construction is a pioneering initiative of the State Government. This article aims at making the scientific community aware of the needs of immediate adoption of sustainability techniques in Civil Engineering, not only in the construction of new buildings, but also in the regeneration of the existing ones, as well as the need of imperious adoption of sustainable techniques when it comes to maintainability.

Globally, the construction industry is one of the leading producers of solid waste. The city of Praia, the capital of the Republic of Cape Verde has been suffering from environmental degradation with the irregular disposal of waste caused by inadequate management of waste from construction and also the demolition. The research was developed based on local inspections in the context of environmental laws, in semi-structured interviews with people who deal with this activity and bibliographic references. The main conclusion is that the city does not have a CDW management plan consequently leading to environmental problems. On the other hand, waste of recycled construction can be used as inert reducing the consumption of raw materials that can be used as base and sub-base for paving, landfills, aggregate in mortars and raw materials to be manufactured blocks, bricks concrete tiles, etc.

The lack of care related to maintenance management is directly linked to the absence of plans for maintenance of buildings. Because of that, there is a big incidence of building accidents caused by the negligence of managers and the lack of investment. The research has shown that, although building inspection is a consolidated building maintenance tool, managers do not prepare their building maintenance plan, nor use building inspection as a tool, leading the buildings to the premature obsolescence. The research calls attention to the building inspection technique that can be used to evaluate building maintenance and conservation. It is also a tool for analysis and investment planning based on actions to solve failures and anomalies that might come out during the building inspection. Those failures and anomalies are classified according to their degree of risk, determining the technical priorities of the investment adjustment in the maintenance plan. The paper presents a risk analysis methodology which classifies inspect elements in a building, determining the priority order of services to be executed on a scale from minimum risk （1） to imminent risk （5）. The method shows a tool for building inspection, and it serves as a guideline for building maintenance interventions.

Currently, Living Wall Systems (LWSs) are assuming great importance in the built environment, due to environmental and aesthetic advantages, as well as the use of urban residual space and underutilized surfaces of buildings. However, the maintenance and the durability of the materials used have been a challenge for architects and professionals in the field. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the anti-corrosion performance of a steel framing profile, galvanized carbon steel (55% Al-Zn), a sustainable material with easy assembly, to apply LWS in the hot and humid tropical climate of Niterói (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In order to create the conditions of the tests, “X” cut were made in Al-Zn coating, sanding, and application of epoxy and glass fiber-reinforced polyester. After the experiments that lasted four months, the 55% Al-Zn coating was analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The results of the tests were promising for the use of this galvanized steel for application as a support for green vertical facades. 55% Al-Zn coatings are recommended for marine atmospheres due to their good anti-corrosion performance.

Electrospinning Polylactic Acid Polymer Membranes as Biological Sieve for Yeast and Bacteria

Vaginal infections are suffered by millions of women of reproductive age. Recent research has shown that timely diagnosis of these infections avoids complications in the patient’s health. Since the symptoms of infections caused by yeast and bacteria are similar, the patient is not always treated properly. Membranes with three different thicknesses (66 μm, 83 μm, 128 μm) were produced by electrospinning of polylactic polymer (PLA) and were used as a biological sieve to detect microorganisms present in vaginal infections, bacteria or yeasts. Electrospinning technique is a technique that allows the generation of membranes from nanofibers of material polymeric and therefore, obtaining porous structures. The size of the fibers was observed as well as the morphology and the size of the pores, using the scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effectiveness of these membranes was proven by the cultivation of the bacteria that passed through the polymeric membrane and the yeasts retained by it. The membranes allowed the retention of yeasts of Candida albicans type with dimensions of 7 μm, which allowed the separation of Brevibacterium ravens purgense bacteria with dimensions of 1.4 μm, thus demonstrating their effectiveness as biological sieve.

Objective: The study aims to evaluate the use of a teaching method proposed by Paulo Freire, Culture Circles, in the education of teenagers multipliers on leprosy awareness. Methods: It is an action-research study with a qualitative approach developed in a public school in Pernambuco, Brazil. Five Culture Circles were conducted involving the participation of 26 teenagers. The followings were used as data collection tools: observation, field notes, photography and filming. Results: The educational intervention on health addressed the following topics: 1) Definition and transmission of leprosy;2) Characteristics and diagnosis of leprosy;3) Treatment of leprosy;4) Aesthetics, prejudice and mental health related to leprosy;and 5) Planning of educational activities for teenagers as health multipliers on leprosy awareness. The educational action on health provided this age group to perceive themselves, act as political subjects in the development of Culture Circles, and act as protagonists in the dissemination of knowledge on leprosy. Conclusions: This study highlights that the application of active methodologies, such as Culture Circles, is able to encourage the engagement of young people in community empowerment and bring together health professionals and the school community in an intersectoral work in order to develop action strategies involving the promotion of health in the context of neglected diseases such as leprosy.

在欧洲人权法院的判例中,其并不总是下令排除侵犯《欧洲人权公约》权利而获得的所有证据。欧洲人权法院将排除证据的分析划分为三道门槛:第一是确定证据的取得侵犯了公约权利;第二是该行为违反了公正审判的要求;第三则是排除证据作为程序性救济的一种形式。在具体实践中,证据禁止隐含了两种要求:第一,禁止通过侵犯《公约》权利的手段获取证据;第二,禁止在审判中使用影响诉讼公正的证据。由于并非所有侵犯《公约》权利所获证据都会影响诉讼程序的公正性,所以需要在具体案件中对审判公正与其他利益之间进行权衡。在违反《公约》第3条的案件中,欧洲人权法院倾向于认为使用这种证据将会影响诉讼程序的公正性,从而无须与其他保障措施进行权衡。在违反《公约》第6条的案件中,欧洲人权法院倾向于以整体的方式进行权衡,即把审判作为一个整体来看待。当《公约》第8条的权利受到侵犯时,如果罪行足够严重,即使证据对审判的最终结果具有不可否认的影响,程序保障缺位所导致的问题也将得到纠正。
