Dear Editor, The PIWI proteins （originally P-element-induced wimpy testis in Drosophila） are predominantly present in the germ-line in diverse organisms and are involved in the processing of a class of small RNAs known as piRNAs （see Refs. for review）. The human PIWI protein family consists of four members： PIWIL1-4. Of these, PIWIL4 is known to have essential roles in the first phases ofspermatogenesis： its expression is restricted to gonocytes and it is required for transposon silencing. The lack of this gene in mice causes meiotic arrest in spermatogenesis.

The immune system protects organisms against endogenous and exogenous harm and plays a key role in tissue development,repair and *** immunomodulatory biologics exhibit limitations including degradation by enzymes,short half-life and lack of targeting *** or binding these biologics within biomaterials is an effective way to address these *** are promising immunomodulatory materials because of their prominent biocompatibility,tuneability and ***,to take advantage of these opportunities and optimize material performance,it is important to more specifically elucidate,and leverage on,how hydrogels affect and control the immune ***,we summarize how key physical and chemical properties of hydrogels affect the immune *** first provide an overview of underlying steps of the host immune response upon exposure to ***,we discuss recent advances in immunomodulatory strategies where hydrogels play a key role through(i)physical properties including dimensionality,stiffness,porosity and topography;(ii)chemical properties including wettability,electric property and molecular presentation;and(iii)the delivery of bioactive molecules via chemical or physical ***,this review aims to build a conceptual and practical toolkit for the design of immune-instructive hydrogels capable of modulating the host immune response.

Concrete members historically have used either pre-stressed steel or steel bars. In recent years there has been an increased interest in the use of fiber reinforced polymer （FRP） materials. However, the flexure behavior of a hybrid system reinforced by the combination of pre-stressed steel and glass fiber reinforced （GFRP） is still relatively unknown. The purpose of this work is to study this. Two slabs of 100 and 150-millimeter thickness, with a span of 2.1 m reinforced with both pre-stressing steel and GFRP were constructed and tested to failure using ACI 318-11 and ACI 440.1 R-15. The concrete had strength of 31 mPa and the slabs were respectively reinforced with 5#4 bars and 3#5 bars. Each slab had 37.41 mm2 prestressing wire with a failure stress of 1722.5 mPa. The experimental flexural strength and deflection of slabs were compared with their respective sizes theoretical slabs. The theoretical slabs were either reinforced with pre-stressed steel or GFRP rebars, or a hybrid system. It was found that the hybrid system produces better results.

Here we give the complete description of the symmetry group and transitive properties of the set of all of monohedral triangulations of the Riemannian sphere by f-tilings. We shall also show that each monohedral f-tiling of the Riemannian sphere can be seen, up to a spherical isometry, as the singular set of a spherical isometric folding.

Carbon fiber yarns（CFY） are promising as a new type of flexible building blocks for the construction of flexible architectures for the energy storage applications. The main hurdle with CFY is how to make them high energy and power capable by using economically and environmentally viable materials. Here,we report reduced graphene oxide（r GO） and Prussian blue（PB） coated CFY, derived from a facile electrochemical process at room temperature for supercapacitor electrodes. The PB coated CFY and r GO coated CFY electrodes exhibit the excellent gravimetric capacitance of 339 F/g and 160.2 F/g, respectively, in aqueous KCl electrolyte in three-electrode cell configuration. When we coupled these electrodes inside the flexible plastic tube and separated by the electrolyte wet filter paper in order to construct flexible architecture, the resulting device delivers excellent specific energy of 52.1 Wh/kg and 26.5 Wh/kg with offering specific power of 3100 W/kg and 14400 W/kg respectively, under a wide operating potential of1.8 V with excellent rate capability. The device shows high tolerance towards bending, and retained its efficiency to the capacitance after being bent at an angle of 360° for 200 bending cycles.

The troposphere affects Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)signals due to the variability of the refractive *** delay is a function of the satellite elevation angle and the altitude of the GNSS receiver and depends on the atmospheric *** the residual tropospheric delay is not modelled carefully a bias error will occur in the vertical *** order to analyse the precise altimetric positioning based on a local active network,four scenarios in Southern Spain with different topographical,environmental,and meteorological conditions are presented,considering both favourable and non-favourable *** use of surface meteorological observations allows us to take into account the tropospheric conditions instead of a standard atmosphere,but introduces a residual tropospheric bias which reduces the accuracy of precise GNSS ***,with short observation times it is recommended not to estimate troposphere parameters,but to use an a priori model together with the standard *** results confirm that it is possible to achieve centimetre-scale vertical accuracy and precision with real time kinematic positioning even with large elevation differences with respect to the nearest reference *** numerical results may be taken into consideration for improving the altimetric configuration of the local active network.

Although complexation with soil organic matter may improve zinc(Zn)bioavailability to plants,the effect of Zn sorbent surface on the use of complexed Zn by plants remains *** objective of this research was to elucidate how Zn complexation with humic substances(HS)and phytate affects the uptake of Zn by wheat plants depending on the main sorbent surface in growth media,i.e.,carbonates and Fe *** this end,two pot experiments were performed,one using Fe oxide-coated siliceous as the siliceous growth medium sand and the other using a mixture of calcareous sand and siliceous sand as the calcareous growth *** experiment involved three Zn sources,Zn-HS complex,Zn phytate,and ZnSO_(4).All sources were applied with surface irrigation at two Zn rates(0.25 and 2 mg kg^(-1) growth medium).The Zn-HS complex significantly increased Zn uptake by plants in both media,relative to the other two Zn sources,but no significant difference was observed between Zn phytate and ZnSO_(4).In the calcareous medium,Zn-HS complex and Zn phytate resulted in significantly higher dry biomass yields of wheat than ZnSO_(4).In the siliceous medium,spike and shoot dry biomass yields with Zn-HS complex at the low rate and Zn phytate at both rates were not significantly different from those with ZnSO_(4) at the high *** harvest,approximately 50%of the Zn applied as Zn-HS complex remained extractable by diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid(DTPA),while this proportion was less than 20%for the other Zn ***,Zn-HS complex and Zn phytate are sources of available Zn for plants,and they are more effective than ZnSO_(4) in increasing plant growth,particularly when carbonates are the main Zn sorbent surface.
