Green onion is one of the most consumed vegetables in Colombia. However, its production is negatively affected by the nematode Ditylenchus. to determine the species of the nematode, as well as to propose management strategies for its control, in the present study the morphological, morphometric, and molecular characterization of the phytonematode was carried out and was used to evaluate the effect of immersion of the propagation material in water hot, application of a commercial strain of Purpureocillium lilacinum and the application of an agrochemical with insecticidal-nematicidal action to control the phytosanitary problem under field conditions. the morphological and morphometric characteristics of the nematode were similar to those reported for the type and reference populations of D. dipsaci. Based on sequences of the D2-D3 segment and Internal transcribed spacer-Its of the rRNA, the presence of D. dipsaci in green onion crops in Colombia was confirmed. the application of P. lilacinum statistically showed an efficient control of D. dipsaci, at the same time that presented the highest yield, in relation to the other evaluated treatments (P ≤ 0.05).

Droughts in the Amazon: Identification, Characterization and Dynamical Mechanisms Associated

In this study, we used the standard Precipitation Index (sPI) to identify and to characterize the dry extreme events in the Amazon region. the results showed that the drought of 1998 was the most intense (sPI average equal to -1.69) in the period from 1979 to 2014. However, some papers have characterized the years 2005 and 2010 as the two largest droughts of the century. thus, it was also carried out a comparative study of these droughts. the results showed that the drought 1998 was more intensive and extreme than the droughts of 2005 and 2010, although droughts of 2005 and 2010 lasted longer than 1998 due to oceanic and atmospheric conditions with influencing to cause greater social and economic impacts. Furthermore, it is suggested that the impact of the 2005 and 2010 droughts is a response from the dry occurred in 1993-1994 and 1997-1998.

Inorganic fullerene-like Ws_(2)and Mos_(2)nanoparticles have been synthesized using exclusively solid precursors,by reaction of the corresponding metal oxide nanopowder,sulfur and a hydrogen-releasing agent(NaBH4 or liAlH4),achieved either by conventional furnace heating up to~900℃or by photothermal ablation at far higher temperatures driven by highly concentrated white *** contrast to the established syntheses that require toxic and hazardous gases,working solely with solid precursors permits relatively safer reactor conditions conducive to industrial scale-up.

throughout evolution, plants have evolved sophisticated adaptive responses that allow them to grow with a limited supply of phos-phate, the preferential form in which the essential macronutrient phosphorus is absorbed by plants. Most of these responses are aimed to increase phosphate availability and acquisition through the roots, to optimize its usage in metabolic processes, and to protect plants from the deleterious effects of phosphate deficiency stress. Regulation of these adaptive responses requires fine percep- tion of the external and internal phosphate levels, and a complex signal transduction pathway that integrates information on the phosphate status at the whole-plant scale. the molecular mecha-nisms that participate in phosphate homeostasis include transcriptional control of gene expression, RNA silencing mediated by microRNAs, regulatory non-coding RNAs of miRNA activity, phosphate transporter trafficking, and post-translational modification of proteins, such as phosphorylation, sumoylation and ubiquitination. such a varied regulatory repertoire reflects the complexity intrinsic to phosphate surveying and signaling pathways. Here, we describe these regulatory mechanisms, emphasizing the increasing importance of ubiquitination in the control of phosphate starvation responses.

the spatial distribution of the world population is uneven,with a density of about 40%living in coastal *** trend is expected to continue in both demographic indicators and urban development rate,being many coastal cities in seismic-and tsunami-prone regions and built through informal and unplanned settlements,exposing their population and assets to such *** tectonic-triggered events raised awareness of the cascading earthquake and tsunami threat and highlighted the paucity of structural design criteria considering the cumulative effects of *** being exposed to the ground-motion,the structures’resistance may decrease and become residual/non-existent to support the incoming tsunami,implying an underestimation of the *** management can benefit from reinforcing the ties between natural hazards and engineering practitioners,linking science and industry,and promoting dialogue between risk analysts and *** by the expansion plans of an internationally-sized deep-water port located in a tsunami-prone region,a reflection on the work needed to perform a multi-risk assessment and the challenges yet to overcome is introduced to emphasize the challenge of combining safety requirements with financial and ecologic concerns.A conceptual interdisciplinarybased methodology is proposed to support uncertainty-aware,systematic and informed decisions.

背景:中风作为一种疾病,中医早在2 000多年前即有诸多经典著作对其进行描述。然而,大部分有关针刺对中风后遗症患者功能恢复的疗效的临床对照试验未能得出针刺具有长期疗效的结论。并且,很多试验以表面肌电图测量患者骨骼肌的电活动以评定针刺刺激的即时疗效的结论也不一致。这些研究结果对针刺在神经肌肉水平的作用提出了质疑。本研究旨在比较徒手针刺影响健康人和中风后肌张力亢进患者的肱二头肌功能及力量的即时效果。方法与设计:本研究拟开展含有4个平行对照组的随机单盲临床试验。分别针刺健康受试者及中风后遗症痉挛性轻瘫患者的曲池(lI11)及天泉(PC2)2个穴位。表面肌电图测量针刺对于肌肉功能的即时疗效及肱二头肌的等长张力作为主要结局指标。次要结局指标包括每组中医证候的出现频率及频率分布。讨论:本研究的临床试验设计在方法学上较之前的类似试验有些改善。预计这一研究能够证实针刺刺激对健康人及中风后遗症患者的神经肌肉的作用。临床试验注册:巴西临床试验注册(***,注册号为RBR-5g7xqh).

Natural killer(NK)cell-mediated antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity(ADCC)through CD16 plays a critical role in antihuman immunodeficiency virus(HIV)responses.1–3 CD300a is a surface receptor highly expressed on NK cells that has the capacity to inhibit NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity in healthy donors.4 the CD300a molecule has been related to several viral infections and is able to diminish the NK cell killing of pseudorabies-infected cells through interactions with its ligands phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine.5 In addition,CD300a expression on B and CD4+t lymphocytes is altered during HIV-1 infection,and combined antiretroviral therapy(cARt)does not restore nonpathological expression levels.5,6 However,the expression and function of CD300a on NK cells during HIV-1 infection is still *** have determined the surface expression of CD300a on different NK cell subsets and the capacity of this receptor to inhibit CD16-induced NK cell effector functions in healthy and HIV-1 infected individuals.

Development of synthetic bone substitutes has arisen as a major research interest in the need to find an alternative to autologous bone *** an ovine model,the present pre-clinical study presents a synthetic bone graft(BonelikeVR)in combination with a cellular system as an alternative for the regeneration of non-critical *** association of biomaterials and cell-based therapies is a promising strategy for bone tissue *** stem cells(MsCs)from human dental pulp have demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo to interact with diverse biomaterial systems and promote mineral deposition,aiming at the reconstruction of osseous ***,these cells can be found and isolated from many ***-critical bone defects were treated with BonelikeVR with or without MsCs obtained from the human dental *** showed that BonelikeVR and MsCs treated defects showed improved bone regeneration compared with the defects treated with BonelikeVR ***,it was observed that the biomaterial matrix was reabsorbed and gradually replaced by new bone during the healing *** therefore propose this combination as an efficient binomial strategy that promotes bone growth and vascularization in non-critical bone defects.
