The role of cancer stem cells in gastrointestinal cancer-associated death has been widely *** cancer stem cells(GCSCs)are considered to be responsible for tumor initiation,growth,resistance to cytotoxic therapies,recurrence and metastasis due to their unique *** properties make the current therapeutic trials against GCSCs ***,recent studies have shown that targeting stem cell surface markers or stemness associated pathways might have an additional off-target effect on the immune *** advances in oncology and precision medicine have opened alternative therapeutic strategies in the form of cancer *** approach differs from classical anti-cancer therapy through its mechanism of action involving the activation and use of a functional immune system against tumor cells,instead of aiming physically destruction of cancer cells through radio-or *** immunological approaches for GCSCs targeting involve the use of different immune cells and various immune mechanisms like targeting specific surface antigens,using innate immune cells like the natural killer and T cells,T-cell chimeric antigen receptor technology,dendritic cell vaccine,or immune checkpoint *** this respect,better understandings of immune regulatory mechanisms that govern anti-tumor response bring new hope in obtaining long-term remission for cancer therapy.

Aims:We aimed to compare cancer survivors’fatigue expression with that of the general population and examine psychobiological factors associated with ***:in this quantitative,transversal study,we analyzed clinical and sociodemographic indicators of 389 participants(68.38%females):148 cancer survivors on active treatment,55 disease-free survivors,75 patients with another chronic disease,and 111 healthy ***:Fatigue was expressed dissimilarly in patients with a previous history of cancer and participants without a history of *** on active treatment reported significantly higher levels of fatigue than the other clinical status ***,some level of cancer-related fatigue persisted,in a similar pattern,after active treatment into the survivorship ***-free survivors showed significantly lower vigor levels when compared to patients with other chronic *** distress and daytime sleepiness emerged as transdiagnostic factors associated with ***:Cancer-related fatigue may have a unique pattern,characterized by reduced endurance and muscle *** the present study,psychological distress and daytime sleepiness are associated with cancer-related *** findings suggest the pertinence of future studies examining whether interventions targeting those factors may help manage this burdensome complaint.

The spinal cord has the ability to regenerate but the microenvironment generated after trauma reduces that capacity. An increase in Src family kinase （SFK） activity has been implicated in neuropathological conditions associated with central nervous system trauma. Therefore, we hypothesized that a decrease in SFK activation by a long-term treatment with 4-amino-5-（4- chlorophenyl）-7-（t-butyl）pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyramidine （PP2）, a selective SFK inhibitor, after spinal cord contusion with the New York University （NYU） impactor device would generate a permissive environment that improves axonal sprouting and/or behavioral activity. Results demonstrated that long-term blockade of SFK activation with PP2 increases locomotor activity at 7, 14, 21 and 28 days post-iniury in the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan open field test, round and square beam crossing tests. in addition, an increase in white matter spared tissue and serotonin fiber density was observed in animals treated with PP2. However, blockade of SFK activity did not change the astrocytic response or infiltration of cells from the immune system at 28 days post-injury. Moreover, a reduced SFK activity with PP2 diminished Ephexin （a guanine nudeotide exchange factor） phosphorylation in the acute phase （4 days post-injury） after trauma. Together, these findings suggest a potential role of SFK in the regulation of spared tissue and/or axonal outgrowth that may result in functional locomotor recovery during the pathophysiology generated after spinal cord injury. Our study also points out that ephexinl phosphorylation （activation） by SFK action may be involved in the repulsive microenvironment generated after spinal cord injury.

Surveillance with abdominal ultrasound(US)of patients with chronic liver disease who are at risk of developing a hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),has progressively emerged as a consolidated practice for achieving early diagnosis and improving treatment of liver cancer,despite the lack of robust evidence-based *** is recommended by the international societies from both hemispheres(1-3),where however recommendations from Far East voice some nuances with respect to the need for adding serum alfa fetoprotein(AFP)to US and of adopting accelerated intervals of screening for patients at very high risk of HCC,like those with viral hepatitis and multiple co-morbidities.A recent meta-analysis form the US confirms indeed a benefit in adding serum AFP to US(4).in the western world,a 6-month interval is considered more than adequate for screening patients with compensated cirrhosis of any aetiology,as several meta-analyses have reported appreciable survival benefits in those patients who had a small tumor detected with US surveillance that ultimately could access curative treatment with liver transplantation,hepatic resection or local ablation(5,6).
