Aims studies integrating phylogenetic history and large-scale community assembly are few,and many questions remain ***,we use a global coastal dune plant data set to uncover the important factors in community assembly across scales from the local filtering processes to the global long-term diversification and dispersal *** dune plant communities occur worldwide under a wide range of climatic and geologic conditions as well as in all biogeographic ***,global patterns in the phylogenetic composition of coastal dune plant communities have not previously been *** the data set comprised vegetation data from 18463 plots in New Zealand,south Africa,south America,North America and *** phylogenetic tree comprised 2241 plant species from 149 *** calculated phylogenetic clustering(Net Relatedness Index,NRI,and Nearest taxon Index,NtI)of regional dune floras to estimate the amount of in situ diversification relative to the global dune species pool and evaluated the relative importance of land and climate barriers for these diversification patterns by geographic analyses of phylogenetic *** then tested whether dune plant communities exhibit similar patterns of phylogenetic structure within ***,we calculated NRI for local communities relative to the regional species pool and tested for an association with functional traits(plant height and seed mass)thought to vary along sea–inland *** Findings Regional species pools were phylogenetically clustered relative to the global pool,indicating regional *** showed stronger clustering than NRI pointing to the importance of especially recent diversifications within *** species pools grouped phylogenetically into two clusters on either side of the tropics suggesting greater dispersal rates within hemispheres than between *** NRI plot values confirmed that most communities were also phylogenetically clus

In recent years,our world has experienced significant disruptions due to the COviD-19 pandemic,and Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine,impacting human activities and the global *** paper explored air quality changes in Ukraine due to COVID-19,and Russia's invasion of Ukraine using on-demand with a what-you-see-is-what-you-get *** the cOVID-19 pandemic,strict quarantine policies in Ukraine led to a 2%reduction in tropospheric NO_(2) concentration before the lockdown and 4%during the lockdown *** like Kyiv,Donetsk,and Dnipro exhibited reductions of 5%,11%,and 16%,*** sO_(2) column concentration decreased by 6%before the lockdown and 2.5%during the lockdown period,except in high population density *** showed the highest reduction of 17%in sO_(2) concentration,while Donetsk and Dnipro exhibited an 11%***,during the Russian invasion,there was a significant increase in tropospheric NO_(2) concentration in heavily destroyed Kharkiv while most eastern regions experienced a *** total sO_(2) column was 48%higher before the war but reduced throughout the country after the war,except for in Kyiv and a few central *** findings can contribute to analyzing air pollution and building digital twin simulations for future reconstruction scenarios.

A quantum chemistry study of the first singlet(s_(1))and triplet(t_(1))excited states of phenylsulfonyl-carbazole compounds,proposed as useful thermally activated delayed fluorescence(tADF)emitters for organic light emitting diode(OlED)applications,was performed with the quantum Equation-Of-Motion Variational Quantum Eigensolver(qEOM-VQE)and Variational Quantum Deflation(VQD)algorithms on quantum simulators and *** quantum simulations were performed with double zeta quality basis sets on an active space comprising the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals(HOMO,lUMO)of the tADF *** differences in energy separations between s_(1) and t_(1)(ΔEst)predicted by calculations on quantum simulators were found to be in excellent agreement with experimental *** of 17 and 88 mHa with respect to exact energies were found for excited states by using the qEOM-VQE and VQD algorithms,respectively,to perform simulations on quantum devices without error *** utilizing state tomography to purify the quantum states and correct energy values,the large errors found for unmitigated results could be improved to differences of,at most,4 mHa with respect to exact ***,excellent agreement could be found between values ofΔEst predicted by quantum simulations and those found in experiments.

Response to vernalization and photoperiod are the main determinants controlling the time to flowering in temperate cereals. While the individual genes that determine a plant's response to these environmental signals are well characterized, the combinatorial effect on flowering time of allelic variants for multiple genes remains unresolved. this study investigated the genetic control of flowering-time in a biparental population of spring barley, derived from a wide cross between a late-flowering European and an early-flowering North-American cultivar. While the major flowering time genes are not segregating in the Beka ×logan cross, large variation in flowering was observed. We identified five Qtl, with both parents found to contribute early alleles. the catalog of Qtl discovered aligns with several candidate genes affecting flowering time in barley. the combination of particular alleles at HvCEN, HvElF3 and HvFt1 in logan are responsible for the earliness of this cultivar. Interestingly, earliness for flowering could be further enhanced, with Beka found to contribute three early alleles, including a Qtl colocating with a HvFD-like gene, suggesting that there are diverse aspects of the flowering-time pathway that have been manipulated in these two cultivars. Epistatic interactions between flowering-time Qtl or candidate genes were observed in field data and confirmed under controlled conditions. the results of this study link photoperiod-dependent flowering-time genes with earliness per se genes into a single model, thus providing a unique framework that can be used by geneticists and breeders to optimize flowering time in barley.

Association of Brazilian Adolescents with Healthy Eating: Knowledge, Perceptions and Food Choices

the aim of this study is to identify the adolescents’ knowledge and perceptions of healthy and unhealthy eating. It is a qualitative cross section study with 83 adolescents of both genders between 10 and 16 years old enrolled in a public school in the city of s?o Paulo, Brazil. the participants answered two discursive questions that assessed their knowledge and perception of their actual diet. these questions were later analyzed by a qualitative technique, “Discourse of Collective subject” based on the theory of social Representations. Overall, the youth presented an adequate knowledge about healthy eating. About half (52.6%) reported a balanced and varied diet;and 56.3% considered their actual diet as being healthy. Adolescents’ knowledge about healthy eating isn’t the only determinant for their food choices;and so traditional nutritional interventions focusing on concepts about healthy eating should be modified, aiming at behavioral changes.

Problems associated with carbon support corrosion under operating fuel cell conditions require the identification of alternative supports for platinum-based nanosized *** supported on manganese vanadate(Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6))was prepared by microwave irradiation method and characterized using X-ray diffraction,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy,and transmission electron *** borohydride oxidation reaction(BOR)on Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was studied in highly alkaline media using voltammetry,chronoamperometry,and electrochemical impedance *** electrocatalytic activity of Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was also compared with that of commercial Pt/C(46 wt%Pt)*** apparent activation energy of BOR at Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) was estimated to be 32 k J mol^(-1) and the order of reaction to be 0.51,indicating that borohydride hydrolysis proceeds in parallel with its ***-term stability of Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) under BOR typical conditions was observed.A laboratory-scale direct borohydride fuel cell assembled with a Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) anode reached a specific power of 274 W g^(-1).Experimental results on Pt/MnV_(2)O_(6) were complemented by DFt calculations,which indicated good adherence of Pt to MnV_(2)O_(6),beneficial for electrocatalyst stability.

Fern extracts potentiate fluconazole activity and inhibit morphological changes in Candida species

Objective: to investigate the antifungal activity of the fern species lygodium venustum(l. venustum) and Pityrogramma calomelanos(P. calomelanos) against Candida albicans and Candida tropicalis ***: the microdilution method was used to evaluate the antifungal activity, as well as the modulating effects of ethanolic extracts of these plants in combination with fluconazole. the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC), minimum fungicide concentration and morphological changes were also ***: the extract obtained from l. venustum presented a MIC > 8 192 mg/m l, while the extract obtained from and P. calomelanos presented a MIC = 8 192 mg/m l, indicating that they present weak antifungal activity. However, combination of the extracts with Fluconazole potentiated the antifungal activity of this drug. At different experimental conditions, such as concentration of the extract and type of strain, the extracts inhibited hyphae and pseudohyphae formation, indicating that these fern species can affect the morphology of the ***: the extracts obtained from the fern species l. venustum and P. calomelanos dose not present significant antifungal activity. However, P. calomelanos potentiates the activity of fluconazole and both extracts inhibits the morphological changes in Candida species, indicating that they have potential pharmacological activity as modulators of fungal biology. therefore, novel studies are required to characterize the interference of these extracts in the virulence and pathogenicity of Candida species as well as the potential of fern species to treat fungal infections.

strong>Introduction:strong> Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is neglected in the planning of health services in Brazil. the purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency of Diabetic Retinopathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) registered in the Unified Health system (sUs) of the semi-arid of Paraíba (PB-Brazil), using a score developed by the researchers to track this condition. strong>Methods:strong> A cross-sectional study was carried out, in which DM2 patients registered at sUs in the city of s?o Mamede-PB was recruited. Ophthalmological and clinical data were collected, including: body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist circumference/height ratio (WC/stature), smoking history, physical activity, time of diabetes and its control, blood pressure values and comorbidities. With these data, an original score for DR screening (DRss) was performed. Qualitative variables were expressed by absolute and relative frequencies, and quantitative variables were expressed by means and standard deviations. p value ≤ 0.05 was used to reject the null hypothesis. strong>Results:strong> Ninety seven (64.7%) type 2 diabetic patients were recruited. Participants were predominantly women (64.9%), with a mean age of 65.8 years, of short stature (mean of 1.56 m), high BMI, with a predominance of the WC/stature ratio equal to or greater than 0.60, smokers and patients with systemic arterial hypertension (sAH). the main ophthalmological findings were: vascular changes compatible with Grade I/II Hypertensive Retinopathy (72.1%) and cataracts in about 50% of the eyes. the prevalence of DR was 12.4%. According to the DRss results, it was found that most patients (85.6%) had a high risk score equal to or greater than 60 of developing DR. t-cell development ensures the formation of diverse repertoires of t-cell receptors(tCRs)that recognize a variety of *** is a major posttranslational modification present in virtually all cells,including t-lymphocytes,that regulates activity/*** these structures are known to be involved in tCR-selection in DP thymocytes,it is unclear how glycans regulate other thymic development processes and how they influence susceptibility to ***,we discovered stage-specific glycome compositions during t-cell development in human and murine thymocytes,as well as dynamic *** restricting the N-glycosylation profile of thymocytes to high-mannose structures,using specific glycoengineered mice(Rag1CreMgat1fl/fl),we showed remarkable defects in key developmental checkpoints,includingß-selection,regulatory t-cell generation andγδt-cell development,associated with increased susceptibility to colon and kidney inflammation and *** further demonstrated that a single N-glycan antenna(modeled in Rag1CreMgat2fl/fl mice)is the sine-qua-non condition to ensure normal *** conclusion,we revealed that mannosylated thymocytes lead to a dysregulation in t-cell development that is associated with inflammation susceptibility.
