Passive Heating systems:A Case study in a Brazilian Mountainous Region

the study of thermal comfort in the built environment is of great relevance since it stimulates the development of more sustainable buildings suited to the local climate and able to meet the human need for *** objective of this research was to develop,construct and test a passive heating system adaptable to existing buildings,reducing the need for major interventions and increasing thermal comfort in the indoor *** adopted methodological approach was a case study in a single-family residence located in the Brazilian city of Petrópolis,a mountainous region with a humid subtropical climate and a rigorous *** proposed passive heating system is totally isolated,thus mitigating air infiltration and promoting increase of temperature in the internal environment through the absorption of solar energy and greenhouse *** kind of solution is especially interesting for residents of this region,since most of the city buildings are not adequately prepared to handle low ***,given local climatic conditions,residents need to spend a lot of money on the acquisition and operation of electric or gas heating *** results indicated that the developed system,in fact,increased the temperature of the studied room when compared to an adjacent room,which did not receive the *** findings of this paper,therefore,provide a valuable reference for experts and practitioners in the selection of heating systems to be used in cold regions,and proved that passive systems can provide thermal comfort at the same time that optimize the interaction of the building with the local ecosystem.

Globally, the construction industry is one of the leading producers of solid waste. the city of Praia, the capital of the Republic of Cape Verde has been suffering from environmental degradation with the irregular disposal of waste caused by inadequate management of waste from construction and also the demolition. the research was developed based on local inspections in the context of environmental laws, in semi-structured interviews with people who deal with this activity and bibliographic references. the main conclusion is that the city does not have a CDW management plan consequently leading to environmental problems. On the other hand, waste of recycled construction can be used as inert reducing the consumption of raw materials that can be used as base and sub-base for paving, landfills, aggregate in mortars and raw materials to be manufactured blocks, bricks concrete tiles, etc.

BACKGROUND Colorectal anastomotic leakage(CAl),a severe postoperative complication,is associated with high morbidity,hospital readmission,and overall healthcare *** detection of CAl remains a challenge in clinical ***,some decision models have been developed to increase the diagnostic accuracy of this *** to develop a score based on easily accessible variables to detect CAl *** Based on the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator method,a predictive classification system was developed[Early ColoRectAl leakage(E-CRAll)score]from a prospective observational,single center cohort,carried out in a colorectal division from a non-academic *** score performance and CAl threshold from postoperative day(POD)3 to POD5 were *** on a precise analytical decision model,the standard clinical practice was compared with the E-CRAll adoption on POD3,POD4,or POD5.A cost-minimization analysis was conducted,on the assumption that all alternatives delivered similar health-related *** In this study,396 patients who underwent colorectal resection surgery with anastomosis,and 6.3%(n=25)developed *** of the patients who developed CAl(n=23;92%)were diagnosed during the first hospital admission,with a median time of diagnosis of 9.0±6.8 *** POD3 to POD5,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the E-CRAll score was 0.82,0.84,and 0.95,*** POD5,if a threshold of 8.29 was chosen,87.4%of anastomotic failures were identified with E-CRAll ***,score usage could anticipate CAl diagnosis in an average of 5.2 d and 4.1 d,if used on POD3 and POD5,*** of score adoption,episode comprehensive costs were markedly greater(up to four times)in patients who developed CAl in comparison with patients who did not develop ***,the use of the E-CRAll warning score was associated with cost savings of€421442.20,with most(92.9%)of the savings from patients

In this paper, we present a new hybrid conjugate gradient algorithm for unconstrained optimization. this method is a convex combination of liu-storey conjugate gradient method and Fletcher-Reeves conjugate gradient method. We also prove that the search direction of any hybrid conjugate gradient method, which is a convex combination of two conjugate gradient methods, satisfies the famous D-l conjugacy condition and in the same time accords with the Newton direction with the suitable condition. Furthermore, this property doesn't depend on any line search. Next, we also prove that, moduling the value of the parameter t,the Newton direction condition is equivalent to dai-liao conjugacy *** strong Wolfe line search conditions are *** global convergence of this new method is *** comparisons show that the present hybrid conjugate gradient algorithm is the efficient one.

Gastric cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide,and most of the cases are associated with Helicobacter pylori *** bacterium promotes the production of reactive oxygen species(ROs),which cause DNA damage in gastric epithelial *** this study,we evaluated the expression of important genes involved in the recognition of DNA damage(AtM,AtR,and H2AX)and ROs-induced damage repair(APE1)and the expression of some miRNAs(miR-15a,miR-21,miR-24,miR-421 and miR-605)that target genes involved in the DNA damage response(DDR)in 31 fresh tissues of gastric *** v3.1.1 was used to construct the postulated miRNA:mRNA interaction *** performed by real-time quantitative PCR exhibited significantly increased levels of the APE1(RQ=2.55,ps beyond the miR-421 and miR-605 in the gastric cancer *** addition,significantly elevated levels of miR-21,miR-24 and miR-421 were observed in diffuse-type gastric *** analysis reinforced some of the gene:gene(AtM/AtR/H2AX)and miRNA:mRNA relationships obtained also with the interaction ***,our findings show that tumor cells from gastric cancer presents deregulation of genes and miRNAs that participate in the recognition and repair of DNA damage,which could confer an advantage to cell survival and proliferation in the tumor microenvironment.
