In summer 2010, twenty eight （14 PM=2.5 samples plus 14 samples PM2.5-10） smoke samples were collected during wildfires that occurred in central Portugal. A portable high-volume sampler was used to perform the sampling, on quartz fibre filters of coarse （PM=2.5-10） and fine （PM2.5） smoke samples. The carbonaceous content （elemental and organic carbon） of particulate matter was analysed by a thermal-optical technique. Subsequently, the particulate samples were solvent extracted and fractionated by vacuum flash chromatog- raphy into three different classes of organic compounds （aliphatics, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） and carbonyl compounds）. The organic speciation was performed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS）. Emissions were dominated by the fine particles, which represented around 92% of the PM10. A clear predominance of carbonaceous constituents was observed, with organic to elemental carbon （OC/EC） ratios ranging between 1.69 and 245 in both size fractions. The isoprenoid ketone 6,10,14-trimethyl-2-pentadecanone, a tracer for secondary organic aerosol formation, was one of the dominant constituents in both fine and coarse particles. Retene was the most abundant compound in all samples. Good correlations were obtained between OC and both aliphatic and PAH compounds. Pyrogenic processes, thermal release of biogenic com- pounds and secondary processing accounted for 97% of the apportioned PM2.5 levels.

AIM To investigate the impact of coronary artery disease in a cohort of patients resuscitated from cardiac arrest with non-diagnostic *** From March 2004 to February 2016, 203 consecutive patients resuscitated from in or out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest and non-diagnostic post-resuscitation electrocardiogram(defined as ST segment elevation or pre-sumably new left bundle branch block) whounderwent invasive coronary angiogram during hospitalization were included. For purpose of analysis and comparison, patients were classified in two groups: Initial shockable rhythm(ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation; n = 148, 72.9%) and initial non-shockable rhythm(n = 55, 27.1%). Baseline characteristics, coronary angiogram findings including Syntax Score and long-term survival rates were compared. RESULTS Sudden cardiac arrest was witnessed in 95.2% of cases, 66.7% were out-of-hospital patients and 72.4% were male. There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between groups except for higher mean age(68.1 years vs 61 years, P = 0.001) in the nonshockable rhythm group. Overall 5-year mortality of the resuscitated patients was 37.4%. Patients with non-shockable rhythms had higher mortality(60% vs 29.1%, P nd a worst neurological status at hospital discharge based on cerebral performance category score(CPC 1-2: 32.7% vs 53.4%, P = 0.02). Although there were no significant differences in global burden of coronary artery disease defined by Syntax Score(mean Syntax Score: 10.2 vs 10.3, P = 0.96) there was a trend towards a higher incidence of acute coronary lesions in patients with shockable rhythm(29.7% vs 16.4%, P = 0.054). There was also a higher need for ad-hoc percutaneous coronary intervention in this group(21.9% vs 9.1%, P = 0.03). COnCLUSIOn Initial shockable group of patients had a trend towards higher incidence of acute coronary lesions and higher need of ad-hoc percutaneous intervention vs nonshockable

Occurrence of tetracycline residues and antimicrobial resistance in gram negative bacteria isolates from cattle farms in Spain

The usage of antibiotics in animal husbandry has dramatically increased the concentration of antibiotic residues and has promoted the development and abundance of antibiotic resistance in manure. When it is spread onto agricultural land, both residues of antibiotics and bacteria carrying antibiotic resistance genes may be introduced into the environment. In this research, we isolated resistant gram negative bacteria from manure produced in two dairy and two beef cattle farms, located in Madrid (Spain), to determine their resistance to seventeen representative antibiotics commonly used in veterinary therapy. A total of 63 isolates were used to assess the overall bacterial antimicrobial resistance on cattle manure samples. Predominant species were Escherichia coli and Comamonas testosteroni accounting for 25% and 19.6% of the total, respectively. The most found antimicrobial resistances in gram-negative bacteria were to tetracycline (66.7%), sulphamethoxazole (55.6%), ampicillin (52.4%), cephalothin (46.0%), chloramphenicol (44.4%), nalidixic acid (39.7%) and trimethroprim- sulphamethoxazole (33.3%). The mean of resistance and the percentage of multi-resistant bacteria in beef farms were higher and statistically significant when compared to dairy farms which is opposite from the findings of the previous studies. The presence of three tetracyclines in all manure samples was also examined with stable recoveries (76% - 82%) and high sensitivity (limit of quantification 0.015 - 0.03 μg/kg). The concentrations of tetracyclines detected (nsistent to the theoretical tetracycline levels in manure in Spain according to the ex- cretion rate of these antibiotics and the values re-ported in scientific literature in other European coun- tries.

The protective role of(poly)phenols against metabolic disorders has been extensively studied in adults but not in *** assess associations of dietary(poly)phenols and their subclasses with cardiometabolic health parameters in adolescents.A cross-sectional study was conducted in 944 individuals aged 11–14 years enrolled in the SI!Program for Secondary Schools trial(nCT03504059).(Poly)phenol intake was assessed using semiquantitative food frequency questionnaires and the Phenol-Explorer *** measured cardiometabolic parameters were waist circumference(WC)age-sex Z-score,blood pressure(BP)age-sex Z-score,blood glucose(BG),triglycerides(TG),and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-c).Multilevel mixedeffect linear regression models were applied to examine the association between(poly)phenol quintiles and cardiometabolic health *** to the lowest quintile,adolescents in the highest quintile of total(poly)phenol intake had lower WC Z-scores,mean arterial pressure Z-scores,and HDL-c after multivariable *** WC Z-scores and HDL-c were lower in the highest quintile of flavonoid intake compared to the lowest *** highest quintile of phenolic acid intake was associated with a lower WC Z-score and TG levels,and the highest quintile of stilbene intake with lower BG and TG,and with higher HDL-c compared to the lowest quintile.A higher intake of(poly)phenols,especially flavonoids,phenolic acids,and stilbenes,was associated with better cardiometabolic parameters in adolescents.

Pericardial defects are infrequent congenital anomalies due to agenesis caused by premature atrophy of the common cardinal vein or Cuvier duct during the 5th or 6th week of embryonic life. These congenital defects are rare, typically observed as an incidental finding and usually remain asymptomatic. nevertheless, the more widespread use of modern imaging techniques has contributed to an increase of its incidence in recent years. There is currently no consensus regarding therapeutic options, all of which are based on small retrospective studies that evaluate the risk of developing a life-threatening complication such as herniation and incarceration of the myocardium. We report on a 22-year-old male who presented with sudden onset of sharp chest pain and dyspnea. Computed tomography and cardiac magnetic resonance scan revealed a pericardial defect adjacent to the lateral free wall of the left atrium with associated herniation of the left atrial appendage. The patient was managed conservatively and had an uneventful clinical progress.

This study deals with SnO2-based ceramic anodes doped with Sb203 and CuO, aiming at contributing new data regarding their electrochemical behavior in cryolite melts. The performances of the anodes were evaluated by anodic polarization, cyclic voltammetry, and current efficiency and corrosion measurements. The investigation proves that the anodic process of SnO2-based inert anodes occurs at a low overvoltage and the oxygen discharge takes place in one step with an exchange of two electrons. The current efficiency and corrosion were proved to be dependent on the electrolysis parameters and composition of electrolysis bath. For a long term electrolysis, the dissolution of the anode in the cryolite-alumina melt produced small aluminium contamination（ca. 0.2%, mass fraction）.

Introduction: teratomas are non-malignantgerm cell tumors commonly composed of cell types derived from all of the three germ layers. Intracerebral teratomas typically are midline or paraxial lesions located in the pituitary stalk or the pineal region. We report our experience with mature teratomas of the posterior fossa. Case report: we present the case of an 11-year-old caucasian female with progressive headache that caused interrupted sleep. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging showed a midline lesion in the posterior fossa with mass effect and without contrast enhancement. anatomic pathology revealed a mature teratoma. Conclusion: differential diagnosis of midline lesions in pediatric patients must include teratomas in spite of being posterior fossa lesions.

Gamification has been applied in software engineering to improve quality and results by increasing people’s motivation and engagement.A systematic mapping has identified research gaps in the field,one of them being the difficulty of creating an integrated gamified environment comprising all the tools of an organization,since most existing gamified tools are custom developments or *** this paper,we propose a gamification software architecture that allows us to transform the work environment of a software organization into an integrated gamified environment,i.e.,the organization can maintain its tools,and the rewards obtained by the users for their actions in different tools will mount *** developed a gamification engine based on our proposal,and we carried out a case study in which we applied it in a real software development *** case study shows that the gamification engine has allowed the company to create a gamified workplace by integrating custom-developed tools and off-the-shelf tools such as Redmine,TestLink,or JUnit,with the gamification *** main advantages can be highlighted:(i)our solution allows the organization to maintain its current tools,and(ii)the rewards for actions in any tool accumulate in a centralized gamified environment.
