AUTOMATIC PATENT DOCUMFNT SUMMARIZATION FOR COLLABORATIVE KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS AND SERVICES

Engineering and research teams often develop new products and technologies by referring to inventions described in patent databases. Efficient patent analysis builds R＆D knowledge, reduces new product development time, increases market success, and reduces potential patent infringement. Thus, it is beneficial to automatically and systematically extract information from patent documents in order to improve knowledge sharing and collaboration among R＆D team members. In this research, patents are summarized using a combined ontology based and TF-IDF concept clustering approach. The ontology captures the general knowledge and core meaning of patents in a given domain. Then, the proposed methodology extracts, clusters, and integrates the content of a patent to derive a summary and a cluster tree diagram of key terms. Patents from the International Patent Classification （IPC） codes B25C, B25D, B25F （categories for power hand tools） and B24B, C09G and H011 （categories for chemical mechanical polishing） are used as case studies to evaluate the compression ratio, retention ratio, and classification accuracy of the summarization results. The evaluation uses statistics to represent the summary generation and its compression ratio, the ontology based keyword extraction retention ratio, and the summary classification accuracy. The results show that the ontology based approach yields about the same compression ratio as previous non-ontology based research but yields on average an 11% improvement for the retention ratio and a 14% improvement for classification accuracy.

Refractory high-entropy alloys:A focused review of preparation methods and properties

In recent years,high-entropy alloys(HEAs)have become prominent metallic materials due to their unique design strategies and excellent mechanical *** HEAs-inherent high-entropy,lattice-distortion,sluggish-diffusion,and cocktail effects make HEAs maintain high strength,oxidation resistance,corrosion resistance,wear resistance,and other excellent comprehensive properties,showing stronger competitiveness relative to traditional *** high-entropy alloys(RHEAs)are considered as a new kind of high-temperature materials with great application prospects due to their excellent mechanical properties and have the potential to replace nickel-based superalloy as the next generation of high-temperature *** reviewed the research status and preparation methods of RHEAs in recent years,including the metallurgical smelting,powder metallurgy,magnetron sputtering,and additive manufacturing *** microstructure and phase-transformation process of RHEAs were *** mechan-ical properties and main strengthening and toughening mechanisms of RHEAs,such as solid-solution strengthening,precipitation strengthening,and the transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP),were discussed,and the deformation mechanism of RHEAs was *** properties of RHEAs,including high strength,oxidation resistance,corrosion and wear resistance were *** will meet the huge market demand in the engineering materials field,but there are still many challenges,such as the tradeoff between high strength and high ductility,structural design,and performance optimization of RHEAs with brittle BCC *** believe that this combination of knowledge may shape the future of RHEAs and break through the mutually exclusive conundrum of high strength and high toughness for RHEAs.

Vascularized composite allotransplantation(VCA)is a novel surgical practice that involves the transplantation of multiple tissue types as a functional unit without the primary purpose of extending *** VCA of the upper extremity is becoming increasingly accepted and performed,VCA of the lower extremity remains largely unexplored despite its acknowledged potential *** are inherent ethical concerns surrounding VCA that are dominated by a conflict between the principles of beneficence and *** primary question is whether the quality-of-life benefits to the patient outweigh the risks associated with long-term immunosuppression for a non-lifesaving *** addition,the ethical conversation involves concerns regarding informed consent,donor autonomy,patient privacy and public disclosure,patient selection,and unique considerations in the pediatric *** extremity VCA has additional ethical issues compared to upper extremity VCA,as current lower limb prostheses provide excellent,near baseline function that upper limb constructs have not yet been able to *** this review,we discuss the ethical challenges of lower extremity VCA using available evidence for the upper *** also compare ethical considerations of VCA of the extremity with other surgical alternatives to limb loss-namely,limb salvage and replantation-and address how the conversation may be altered with further advancements in immunosuppression and prosthetic technology.

Ensuring that the outcome domains proposed for use in burns research are relevant to adult burn patients:a systematic review of qualitative research evidence

Characterization of amyloid-β precursor protein intracellular domain-associated transcriptional complexes in SH-SY5Y neurocytes

Objective Alzheimer＇s disease （AD） is one of the major disorders worldwide. Recent research suggests that the amyloid-β precursor protein intracellular domain （AICD） is a potential contributor to AD development and progression. The small AICD is rapidly degraded after processing from the full-length protein. The present study aimed to apply a highly efficient biotinylation approach in vitro to study AICD-associated complexes in neurocytes. Methods By coexpressing Escherichia coli biotin ligase with biotinyl-tagged AICD in the SH-SY5Y neuronal cell line, the effects of AICD overexpression on cell proliferation and apoptosis were analyzed. Besides, AICD-associated nuclear transcriptional complexes were purified and then examined by mass spectrometry. Results Our data showed that AICD overexpression not only affected cell proliferation but also led to apoptosis in differentiated SH-SY5Y cells. Moreover, biotinylation allowed single-step purification of biotinylated AICD-associated complexes from total nuclear extract via high-affinity biotin-streptavidin binding. Following this by mass spectrometry, we identified physically associated proteins, some reported previously and other novel binding partners, CUX1 and SPT5. Conclusion Based on these results, a map of the AICD-associated nuclear interactome was depicted. Specifically, AICD can activate CUX1 transcriptional activity, which may be associated with AICD-dependent neuronal cell death. This work helps to understand the AICD-associated biological events in AD progression and provides novel insights into the development of AD.

Use of a male antioxidant nutraceutical is associated with superior live birth rates during IVF treatment

Oxidative stress is prevalent among infertile men and is a significant cause of sperm DNA *** sperm DNA damage may reduce embryo quality and increase miscarriage rates,it is possible that untreated sperm oxidative stress may impair in vitro fertilization(IVF)live birth *** that the antioxidant Menevit is reported to reduce sperm DNA damage,it was hypothesized that men’s consumption of this supplement may alter IVF ***,a retrospective cohort study was conducted analyzing outcomes for couples undergoing their first fresh embryo *** were classified as controls if they were taking no supplements,health conscious controls if taking“general health”supplements,or Menevit *** with karyotype abnormalities,or cycles using donated,frozen and surgically extracted sperm were *** the final study cohort of 657 men,live birth rates were significantly higher in Menevit users than controls(multivariate adjusted odds ratio[OR]:1.57,95%confidence interval[Cl]:1.01-2.45,P=0.046),but not between controls taking no supplements and those using general health supplements,thereby suggesting that potential health conscious behavior in supplement users is unlikely responsible for the superior outcomes in Menevit ***,in a post hoc sensitivity analysis,live birth rates among Menevit users were statistically superior to controls for lean men(OR:2.73,95%Cl:1.18-6.28;P=0.019),not their overweight/obese counterparts(OR:1.29,95%Cl:0.75-2.22,P=0.37).The results of this large cohort study therefore support a positive association between men’s use of the Menevit antioxidant during IVF treatment and live birth rates,especially in lean individuals.
