Randomized controlled trial of topical EMLA and vapocoolant spray for reducing pain during wDPT vaccination

Background:Intramuscular vaccination is among the most common source of iatrogenic pain in *** sprays are rapid-acting alternative to topical *** provide transient anesthesia via evaporation induced skin cooling,and reduce pain due to vaccine injection in children and *** objective was to compare the synergistic analgesic effect of eutectic mixture of local anesthetics (EMLA) with breastfeeding (EB group) and vapocoolant spay with breastfeeding (VB group) to that of only breastfeeding (BO group) during whole cell diptheria,pertussis and tetanus (wDPT) ***:A double blind randomized controlled trial was done to include infants up to 3 months of age who came for their first wDPT *** primary outcome variable was the duration of cry after *** outcome variables were Modified Facial Coding Score,Neonatal Infant Pain Scale and latency of onset of ***:Of the 201 eligible participants,111 babies were excluded and remaining 90 babies were randomized into three groups of thirty *** groups did not differ significantly in baseline *** (interquartile range,IQR) of duration of cry was lesser [35.86 (21.07-107.75) seconds] in babies receiving EMLA cream with breast feeding (EB group) and in babies receiving vapocoolant spray with breast feeding (VB group) [32.58 (21.25-106.21) seconds] as compared to babies receiving only breast feeding (BO group) [67.5 (27.6-180) seconds] (P=-0.147).Difference in median (IQR) of latency of cry was not statistically *** Facial Coding Score and Neonatal Infant Pain Scale at 1 minute and 3 minutes was significantly lower in the EB and VB group,as compared to the BO group (P<0.05).Conclusions:Addition of topical EMLA application or vapocoolant spray to breastfeeding during wDPT vaccination does not reduce duration of cry in infants up to 3 months of ***,they are able to show reduction in pain score and further studi

CHEMICAL SYNTHESIS,SPECTRAL CHARACTERIZATION AND STABILITY OF SOME ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTING POLYMERS

The synthesis, characterization, thermal degradation and stability of polyaniline （PANI）, poly（m-nitroaniline）, poly（m-chloroaniline） and poly（o-methylaniline） were reported. Different properties were measured and compared with PANI to find out the effect of electron donating groups （-CH3） and electron withdrawing groups （-Cl, -NO2）. It was found that the presence of any type of substitution in the benzene ring of aniline increased the solubility but reduced the yield, thermal stability and electrical conductivity. Two probe methods were used to measure the electrical conductivity of these polymers. The structural properties of these polymers were characterized by using FTIR and UV-Vis spectroscopic methods. Thermal degradation and stability of these polymers were explained by using thermogravimetric analysis （TGA） and conductivity measurements.

Gd^(3+) ion induced UV upconversion emission and temperature sensing in Tm^(3+)/Yb^(3+):Y_(2)O_(3) phosphor

Cubic phase Tm^(3+)/Yb^(3+):Y_(2)O_(3) and Tm^(3+)/Yb^(3+)/Gd^(3+):Y_(2)O_(3) phosphors were prepared by low temperature combustion technique for upconversion emission in UV-visible *** 980 nm excitation has generated UV emission at 314 nm in tridoped phosphor due to the energy transfer from Tm^(3+) to Gd^(3+)*** emission bands from Tm^(3+) are also observed in both the *** coupled Stark sublevels ^(1)G_(4(a))(476 nm) and ^(1)G_(4(b))(488 nm) of Tm^(3+) ion were utilised for optical thermometry using fluorescent intensity ratio(FIR) *** result shows that maximum absolute sensitivity in tridoped phosphor is observed to be 1.33 × 10^(-3) K^(-1) at 298 ***,temperature rise of phosphor at various pump power densities was also measured and it is estimated to achieve 407 K at the pump power density of 38.46 W/cm^(2).

Simulation and optimization approach for uncertainty-based short-term planning in open pit mines

Accuracy in predictions leads to better planning with a minimum of opportunity lost. In open pit mining,the complexity of operations, coupled with a highly uncertain and dynamic production environment,limit the accuracy of predictions and force a reactive planning approach to mitigate deviations from original plans. A simulation optimization framework/tool is presented in this paper to account for uncertainties in mining operations for robust short-term production planning and proactive decision making. This framework/tool uses a discrete event simulation model of mine operations, which interacts with a goalprogramming based mine operational optimization tool to develop an uncertainty based short-term schedule. Using scenario analysis, this framework allows the planner to make proactive decisions to achieve the mine's operational and long-term objectives. This paper details the development of simulation and optimization models and presents the implementation of the framework on an iron ore mine case study for verification through scenario analysis.

Nonsmooth Semi-Infinite Minmax Programming Involving Generalized(Φ, ρ)-Invexity

This paper introduces some new generalizations of the concept of （~, p）-invexity for non- differentiable locally Lipschitz functions using the tools of Clarke subdifferential. These functions are used to derive the necessary and sufficient optimality conditions for a class of nonsmooth semi-infinite minmax programming problems, where set of restrictions are indexed in a compact set. Utilizing the sufficient optimality conditions, the authors formulate three types of dual models and establish weak and strong duality results. The results of the paper extend and unify naturally some earlier results from the literature.

Study of structural, electrical, and photoluminescent properties of SrCeO3 and Sr2CeO4

Phase pure powders of SrCeO3 and Sr2Ce O4 have been synthesized by calcination at 1000℃for 14 h via solid state ceramic ***/pellets of these samples have been obtained by sintering at 1200℃for 12 *** Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction(XRD)pattern of sintered powders confirmed orthorhombic structure of both the samples with space group Pnma and Pbam for SrCeO3 and Sr2CeO4,*** electron microscopic(SEM)studies indicated that both the compounds have dense microstructure,but morphology and size of the grains are *** impedance spectroscopy technique has been employed to study the relaxation *** conductivity of the samples has been measured in the temperature range of 200–600℃to understand the conduction *** activation energy for relaxation(Erelax)and DC conduction(Econd)are found to be the same for both the *** on the numerical value of activation energies,relaxation and conduction mechanism in both the samples are attributed to migration of doubly ionized oxygen vacancies(Vo··).Photoluminescence technique has been employed to confirm the existence of oxygen *** studies have indicated that migration of oxygen vacancies in Sr2CeO4 is occurring mainly along a and c direction,i.e.,via perovskite ***,the present work has clearly indicated that besides optical properties,electrical properties of Sr2CeO4 are also interesting and can be utilized for various applications such as oxide ion conduction electrolyte in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs).
