Hybrid meta-heuristic machine learning methods applied to landslide susceptibility mapping in the Sahel-Algiers

Landslides are considered as one among many phenomena jeopardizing human beings as well as their constructions. To prevent this disastrous problem, researchers have used several approaches for landslide susceptibility modeling, for the purpose of preparing accurate maps marking landslide prone *** the most frequently used approaches for landslide susceptibility mapping is the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) method. However, the effectiveness of ANN methods could be enhanced by using hybrid metaheuristic algorithms, which are scarcely applied in landslide mapping. In the current study, nine hybrid metaheuristic algorithms, genetic algorithm(GA)-ANN, evolutionary strategy(ES)-ANN, ant colony optimization(ACO)-ANN, particle swarm optimization(PSO)-ANN, biogeography based optimization(BBO)-ANN, gravitational search algorithm(GHA)-ANN, particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm(PSOGSA)-ANN, grey wolves optimization(GWO)-ANN, and probability based incremental learning(PBIL)-ANN have been used to spatially predict landslide susceptibility in Algiers’ Sahel,Algeria. The modeling phase was done using a database of 78 landslides collected utilizing Google Earth images, field surveys, and six conditioning factors(lithology, elevation, slope, land cover, distance to stream, and distance to road). Initially, a gamma test was used to decrease the input variable ***, the optimal inputs have been modeled by the mean of hybrid metaheuristic ANN techniques and their performance was assessed through seven statistical indicators. The comparative study proves the effectiveness of the co-evolutionary PSOGSA-ANN model, which yielded higher performance in predicting landslide susceptibility compared to the other models. Sensitivity analysis using the stepby-step technique was done afterward, which revealed that the distance to the stream is the most influential factor on landslide susceptibility, followed by the slope factor which ranked second. How to repair the Hill cipher

The Hill cipher algorithm is one of the symmetric key algorithms that have several advantages in data encryption. However, a main drawback of this algorithm is that it encrypts identical plaintext blocks to identical ciphertext blocks and cannot encrypt images that contain large areas of a single color. Thus, it does not hide all features of the image which reveals patterns in the plaintext. Moreover, it can be easily broken with a known plaintext attack revealing weak security. This paper presents a variant of the Hill cipher that overcomes these disadvantages. The proposed technique adjusts the encryption key to form a dif- ferent key for each block encryption. Visually and computationally, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed variant yields higher security and significantly superior encryption quality compared to the original one.

In this paper,we consider the NP-hard problem of finding the minimum dominant resolving set of graphs.A vertex set B of a connected graph G resolves G if every vertex of G is uniquely identified by its vector of distances to the vertices in B.A resolving set is dominating if every vertex of G that does not belong to B is a neighbor to some vertices in *** dominant metric dimension of G is the cardinality number of the minimum dominant resolving *** dominant metric dimension is computed by a binary version of the Archimedes optimization algorithm(BAOA).The objects of BAOA are binary encoded and used to represent which one of the vertices of the graph belongs to the dominant resolving *** feasibility is enforced by repairing objects such that an additional vertex generated from vertices of G is added to B and this repairing process is iterated until B becomes the dominant resolving *** is the first attempt to determine the dominant metric dimension problem *** proposed BAOA is compared to binary whale optimization(BWOA)and binary particle optimization(BPSO)*** results confirm the superiority of the BAOA for computing the dominant metric dimension.

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)comprises low power devices that are randomly distributed in a geographically isolated *** energy consumption of nodes is an essential factor to be ***,an improved energy management technique is designed in this investigation to reduce its consumption and to enhance the network’s *** can be attained by balancing energy clusters using a meta-heuristic Firefly algorithm model for network *** improved technique is based on the cluster head selection technique with measurement of the tour length of *** Division Multiple Access(TDMA)scheduler is also improved with the characteristics/behavior of fireflies and also *** last,the development approach shows the progression of the network lifetime,the total number of selected Cluster Heads(CH),the energy consumed by nodes,and the number of packets *** approach is compared with Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector(AODV),Dynamic Source Routing(DSR)and Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEAH)*** is performed in MATLAB with the numerical outcomes showing the efficiency of the proposed *** energy consumption of sensor nodes is reduced by about 50%and increases the lifetime of nodes by 78%more than AODV,DSR and LEACH *** parameters such as cluster formation,end to end delay,percentage of nodes alive and packet delivery ratio,are also evaluated...The anticipated method shows better trade-off in contrast to existing techniques.

The Internet ofMedical Things(IoMT)is mainly concernedwith the efficient utilisation of wearable devices in the healthcare domain to manage various processes automatically,whereas machine learning approaches enable these smart systems to make informed ***,broadcasting is used for the transmission of frames,whereas congestion,energy efficiency,and excessive load are among the common issues associated with existing *** this paper,a machine learning-enabled shortest path identification scheme is presented to ensure reliable transmission of frames,especially with the minimum possible communication overheads in the IoMT *** this purpose,the proposed scheme utilises a well-known technique,i.e.,Kruskal’s algorithm,to find an optimal path from source to destination wearable ***,other evaluation metrics are used to find a reliable and shortest possible communication path between the two interested *** from that,every device is bound to hold a supplementary path,preferably a second optimised path,for situations where the current communication path is no longer available,either due to device failure or heavy ***,the machine learning approach helps enable these devices to update their routing tables simultaneously,and an optimal path could be replaced if a better one is *** proposed mechanism has been tested using a smart environment developed for the healthcare domain using IoMT *** results show that the proposed machine learning-oriented approach performs better than existing approaches where the proposed scheme has achieved the minimum possible ratios,i.e.,17%and 23%,in terms of end to end delay and packet losses,***,the proposed scheme has achieved an approximately 21%improvement in the average throughput compared to the existing schemes.

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)has been extensively utilized as a communication model in Internet of Things(IoT).As well,to offer service,numerous IoT based applications need effective transmission over unstable *** ensure reliability,prevailing investigations exploit multiple candidate forwarders over geographic opportunistic routing in ***,these models are affected by crucial denial of service(DoS)attacks,where huge amount of invalid data are delivered intentionally to the receivers to disturb the functionality of ***,secure localization based authentication(SLA)is presented to fight against DoS attack,and to fulfil the need of reliability and *** examining state information,SLA projects a trust model to enhance efficacy of data ***,of the prevailing opportunistic protocols,SLA guarantees data integrity by modelling a trust based authentication,providing protection against DoS attackers and diminishing computational ***,this model acts as a verification strategy to accelerate?attackers and to handle *** strategy helps SLA in eliminating duplicate transmission and by continuous verification that results from conventional opportunistic *** is performed in a MATLAB environment that offers authentic and reliable delivery by consuming approximately 50%of the cost in contrast to other *** anticipated model shows better trade off in comparison to the prevailing ones.

Simple, Flexible, and Interoperable SCADA System Based on Agent Technology

SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is concerned with gathering process information from industrial control processes found in utilities such as power grids, water networks, transportation, manufacturing, etc., to provide the human operators with the required real-time access to industrial processes to be monitored and controlled either locally (on-site)or remotely (i.e., through Internet). Conventional solutions such as custom SCADA packages, custom communication protocols, and centralized architectures are no longer appropriate for engineering this type of systems because of their highly distribution and their uncertain continuously changing working environments. Multi-agent systems (MAS) appeared as a new architectural style for engineering complex and highly dynamic applications such as SCADA systems. In this paper, we propose an approach for simply developing flexible and interoperable SCADA systems based on the integration of MAS and OPC process protocol. The proposed SCADA system has the following advantages: 1) simple (easier to be implemented);2) flexible (able to adapt to its environment dynamic changes);and 3) interoperable (relative to the underlying control systems, which belongs to diverse of vendors). The applicability of the proposed approach is demonstrated by a real case study example carried out in a paper mill.
